(4K4)_3 But the reality is, as soon as these writers get the chance, they run off to Europe, the slightly more shamefaced ones squatting in Paris, and the utterly shameless settling directly in London.

If there’s anything wrong with Mr.

Dunlap’s “Andre,” it’s that he was too honest.

He aired the innermost thoughts of bankers, major merchants, and writers.

As a result, those two lines of honest words pierced the fragile self-esteem of Americans.

After that, Mr.

Dunlap must have realized that in the field of artistic creation, it’s better to deceive them than to tell the truth.”

Arthur, upon hearing Colt’s words, felt a bit odd, yet found himself with an inexplicable sense of superiority.

It was his first time realizing what it felt like to stand behind the good ol’ Stars and Stripes.

Agares noticed the change in Arthur’s mood and, with a mischievous smirk, rubbed his hands together and said, “Arthur, how is it?

Isn’t this cheap thrill wonderful?

A millionaire from the United States, yet he needs a British has-been nobleman to prop him up.

Tsk tsk tsk, silly humans are always like that.”

Arthur drank a sip of hot cocoa and said calmly, “That’s enough, Agares.

If you keep this up, I’ll have to buy a boat ticket to America tomorrow.”

“No no no, now is not the time.” Agares pushed up his small glasses.

“Didn’t you hear what this young man said?

Now is not the time.

You have to earn a knighthood before you go.

Sir Arthur Hastings, just the title alone could swindle all the wealth of New York’s rich.

Arthur, with your current rising momentum at Scotland Yard, why rush to show off in front of a bunch of country bumpkins?”

At these words, Arthur couldn’t help but glance at him and exclaim sincerely, “Who would have thought that in this day and age, even the Devil looks down on Yankees, huh?”

Hearing Arthur speak, Colt couldn’t resist adding, “Devil?

I think those rich guys are more like a bunch of vampires!

Fat and full from sucking on America’s belly, then they turn around and exchange big wads of cash for a sip of Thames River water.

If I ever get rich…”

Arthur, hearing this, suddenly interjected, “Right, as I mentioned before, it’s still a bit inconvenient for Americans to run factories in Britain, especially since you’re in the arms industry, dealing with guns.

So, have you considered taking up British citizenship first?

I know the application process is a pain, with certain residency requirements and other conditions, but if you really can improve the Colt Revolver and secure the patent, I think it could be expedited.”

“I…” Colt, upon hearing this, furrowed his brows involuntarily.

After all, he had just finished criticizing others; it was difficult for him to change his tune, as young people’s skins are usually quite thin.

Of course, Arthur understood where his reluctance stemmed from and said, “Samuel, I know you are a great patriot, a true American.

But frankly speaking, there is another great patriot living in my house, a genuine Frenchman.

Although he often bristles at the mention of Britain, this does not stop him from submitting work there for money.

Look at it from another angle: taking the money earned in Britain and spending it in America, isn’t that an act of true patriotism?

You’re much better than the banker who spends a fortune on marrying off his daughter.”

“You…” Colt hesitated, “Does your French friend also have British citizenship?”

“Not quite.” Arthur shook his head.

“But just two days ago, I completed the citizenship application for another Frenchman, also a great patriot.

His patriotic fervor was so profound that it made me feel if there is one man loyal to France, it would be him.”

“Is it that exaggerated?”

“Of course.” Arthur picked up a piece of crispy biscuit and took a light bite.

“By the way, that man’s last name is Bonaparte.”
