The Shadow of Great Britain

346: Chapter 212 Regulations Don’t Allow You to Speak (5K8)_2 346: Chapter 212 Regulations Don’t Allow You to Speak (5K8)_2 Although Member of Parliament Bernie Harrison did not catch those better times, nor did he necessarily have much devotion, I think there might be something worth our attention in this set of operations.”

Rowan was no fool, and upon Arthur’s mention, he immediately understood what the other meant, “You mean, Bernie Harrison wants to make a big move, to seize some political capital for himself, packaging himself as a justice warrior persecuted unfairly?”

Arthur closed the file, and placed it before him, “I can only say it’s possible, although the social environment is different now, but madmen and ambitious individuals have always existed.

Mr.

Harrison has been a backbencher for several years now, and nowadays the Tory Party is deeply divided, with the hardliners’ leader, Earl of Eldon, being old and even more lamentable recently due to repeated public criticisms, and the Duke of Wellington being regarded as a traitor by the hardliners because of the ‘Catholic Emancipation Act’, naturally he couldn’t lead them anymore.

So…”

Rowan flipped through the files, then casually tossed them onto the desk, “Well, it seems our MP Harrison wants to be a rising star, to step onto the stage after the retirements of the Duke of Wellington and the Earl of Eldon, to compete with Sir Peel who leads the liberals within the Tory Party.

Now it seems his punches are quite heavy, I don’t know if Sir Peel will feel the pain in the future, but I’m already burning all over right now.”

At this point, Rowan suddenly looked up and said, “I’ve already discussed it with Sir Peel a couple of days ago, he doesn’t want this issue to escalate either, but with MP Harrison’s resolute attitude, as the leader of the Tory Party, he can’t simply suppress him and prevent him from defending his own rights.

After all, times are different now, the Tory Party is no longer the picture of governance they once were, they can’t afford to lose a parliament member.

If Harrison is pushed too hard and he decides to jump ship to the Whig Party, it would be disastrous for the reputation and internal unity of the Tory Party.

If things don’t work out with Sir Peel, then we’ll have to think of other ways to solve this problem.”

Upon hearing this, Arthur just smiled, “Whether Sir Peel will change his attitude is yet to be known.

I just sent him something interesting this morning.

With Sir Peel’s intelligence and art appreciation skills, after listening to that record, his mood and attitude towards Bernie Harrison might change.

We can wait a bit longer on the Tory side, there’s no rush.

For now, we just need to focus on shutting up those parliament members who sympathize with Mr.

Harrison.

Regarding this, as you said earlier, we can start with the arrest warrant signed by Louis Bonaparte.”

Rowan’s eyes slowly narrowed, as he stared at Arthur for a long time before the Army Colonel grinned, “Arthur, it seems that you are privy to much that I am unaware of.

Why have I not heard any wind of this?

May I ask presumptuously, do I have the honor to know this intelligence?”

Upon hearing this, Arthur, holding his folder, stood up and smiled, “Sir, it’s better you don’t know, after all, the delightful music Sir Peel heard is just a part of it.”

Rowan lit his pipe and took a puff, the office filling with smoke, “What do you mean by that?”

Arthur laughed, “Just like what Mr.

Louis Bonaparte, who signed the arrest warrant,’s uncle once said: if it’s good news, there is no hurry.

But if it’s bad news, wake me immediately, as bad news cannot be delayed.

As the head of Scotland Yard, a man of equal stature to Napoleon, you really shouldn’t be distracted by messages of lesser importance.”

Rowan puffed on his pipe, his eyebrows slightly raised, “So, the news from your end is good for Scotland Yard but bad for Sir Peel?

Thus, I don’t need to know, but Sir Peel does need to?”

Arthur smilingly replied, “Sir, I don’t know on what information you base your conclusions, but according to the ‘London Police Intelligence Bureau Information Management Ordinance,’ I am not authorized to answer your question.”

Upon hearing this, Rowan took several quick puffs on his pipe.

Behind the dense smoke, his expression was completely obscured.

Seeing this, Arthur calmly took a step backward, “Then, Sir, I will go and apply at the local court for a search warrant for Joseph Bonaparte’s residence at Regency Crescent, an unregistered Frenchman and at the same time a fugitive wanted in France under the July Monarchy, the Papal States, and several other Apennine countries.

According to current British law, it’s completely reasonable for Scotland Yard to apply for his arrest or surveillance.

As for the procedures at the Foreign Office, that will need your intervention to organize this cross-departmental cooperation according to regulations.”

With that, Arthur saluted him, then turned and prepared to push the door to leave.

But just as his hand touched the doorknob, he heard Rowan’s familiar raspy voice from behind the desk.

“Arthur.”

Arthur turned his head, nodding slightly, “Sir, is there anything else?”

Rowan waved away the smoke in front of him and tapped the ashes from his pipe into the ashtray, “Believe me, you’re going to make it big.

Young man, good luck.”
