Dumas away in public, there won’t be any problem,”

Upon hearing this, a subordinate couldn’t restrain himself from asking, “But…

if we kidnap Mr.

Dumas, wouldn’t Mr.

Hastings report it to the police?”

“Report it to the police?”

Victor spat and gently patted the subordinate’s forehead, “Vakul, use your brain.

Mr.

Hastings himself is a Police Inspector at Scotland Yard.

Would an inspector report that his friend has gone missing, especially since this friend is the Frenchman he saved from international waters last time?

Do you think he’d do something so foolish?

Reporting it would be the same as admitting his incompetence.

So, as long as we can get Mr.

Dumas away, Mr.

Hastings will likely turn a blind eye, and that will be the end of it.

Mr.

Hastings isn’t the type like Duplacey, who climbed ranks through office politics and having an affair with the director’s wife.

He moved up so quickly because he understands these simple things.”

However, the subordinate named Vakul remained puzzled, “But…

if Mr.

Hastings is a smart man, couldn’t we just negotiate with him?

After all, the reward is sixty thousand Francs.

Can’t we simply share some with him, and we all make money together?”

Victor glared at him, “Vakul, have you been away from the underworld too long, forgetting our rules?

Indeed, Mr.

Hastings is a smart man, but expecting to share money with me without proving his worth first?

Isn’t that too easy?

If Mr.

Hastings wants to do business with us, he’d at least need to show some skills that warrant him deserving a share.”

“But…”

Vakul glanced at the bustling scene in front of the door where prostitutes still awaited their last chance to enter, and scratched his head, “Boss, most of the guys entering tonight have brought their own companions.

It seems our usual approach won’t work.

Didn’t we notice a few windows on the second floor while scouting the theater vicinity?

If we climb the walls, perhaps we could get in.

How about we get ready after you finish that cigarette.”

Upon hearing this, Victor simply raised his hand to signal a wait, “Let’s not hurry, we didn’t make it inside, but ‘Coconut Tree’ got lucky today and snagged a fool who can’t control his lower half.

He will definitely find a way to support us once he’s in.

We just need to wait.

Make sure those brothers in charge of transportation are ready, as we need to leave immediately as soon as we succeed, without staying a moment longer.”

Victor exhaled a puff of smoke and glanced at the Greenwich District patrols around the theater, “With such a big event tonight, there’s quite a number of Scotland Yard officers present to maintain order.

If Mr.

Hastings senses something is off, he’ll definitely order a pursuit immediately.

If our people get pinned down in London, we are done for.”

As soon as Victor finished, a tall, slender lady with bright lipstick and a touch of pale pink makeup on her pale cheeks emerged from the theater’s back door.

She looked around briefly and soon spotted Victor hiding in the alley, smoking.

Suddenly, the lady who was previously gently moving in her red and black pleated skirt, lifted her skirt to reveal her white stockings, and sprinted towards him.

As soon as she entered the alley, she couldn’t help but curse furiously, “Damn it, what a bloody bad day.

Of all the people to notice, had to be some monkey.

If it weren’t for that guy holding a box ticket, I’d have cornered and beaten him.”

Vakul asked, “Coconut Tree, what’s wrong?

Why the rage?”

Coconut Tree glared back and responded, “Damn it, you haven’t met that man.

You don’t know, even though I’m wearing this thick petticoat and stuffed two layers of cotton at my backside, my ass was almost swollen from his fondling.”

Hearing this, Victor impatiently remarked, “Rub it and it’s fine, your ass is worth sixty thousand Francs right now.

It’s not the first time we’ve encountered such situations.

Isn’t it common to face such things in disguise?

If he has a box ticket, just let it go.”

The palm tree grumbled, “Yeah!

That’s exactly what I was thinking, but you have no idea, this guy only massages one side.

Now one of my butt cheeks is higher than the other, and the cotton padding has shifted.

If I hadn’t reacted quickly, he almost caught on to something being off.”

Victor obviously wasn’t in the mood to listen to his subordinate’s complaints, so he passed over the half-smoked pipe as a form of consolation.

He immediately asked, “How’s the job coming along?”

After taking a puff of the pipe, the palm tree felt a bit better and began, “We’re pretty lucky.

The idiot I fished out has some connections with Chief Hastings, seems they were college buddies or something.

And from what he said, it seems he also rents a house from Hastings’ family and lives with Dumas every day.”

Upon hearing this, Vakul perked up and laughed loudly, “Palm tree!

Not bad!

Next time, you should not only give him a butt massage but also sacrifice some of your pecs.”

“Fuck that!” the palm tree couldn’t help but adjust his tight corset and cursed loudly, “Don’t come to me with this kind of job next time.

Sixty thousand francs is not too little, but how much of it actually ends up in our hands?

How many women do I have to massage to make up for the mental loss I endured tonight?”

Upon hearing this, Victor could only try to stabilize the palm tree’s mood since their ability to infiltrate depended entirely on him.

Victor said, “Alright, as you know, Paris has just undergone a revolution, and the police department is in a state of disarray.

No one knows if they can continue working there.

For someone like me who has resigned before, it’s even harder to return.”

“This mission isn’t just about the sixty thousand francs.

What’s important is that we can use Mr.

Dumas to demonstrate to our superiors our resolve to cut ties with the Republicans.

As for the Bonapartists, it’s because of them that I had to leave last time.”

“As long as I can prove that I am neither a Bonapartist nor a Republican, there will be no obstacles to me retaking control of the Security Department.

Once I return, how could I possibly make my brothers suffer?

You all know how I have treated you in the past.”

“Speaking of which, palm tree, I’ve noticed your sacrifices today.

When I return to the Paris police headquarters, the position of Head of Intelligence Collection at the Security Department is yours for the taking.”

Hearing this, the palm tree felt the anger in his heart suddenly evaporate into thin air.

He showed a slight smile, subtly pointing his finger towards Vakul while addressing Victor, “Boss, it’s not about the position of head or not, I’ve always believed that promotion should be based on capability.”

Victor, pretending not to understand the palm tree’s implication, stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder, “Of course.

Today, everyone held back but you went in, isn’t that capability?

But while it’s good to be capable, palm tree, don’t try to be too clever in front of me.

After all, you know what happened with Nemo, and I don’t want to harm our friendship.”

Hearing this, the palm tree involuntarily shuddered, nodding, “Boss, don’t worry.”

Meanwhile, Vakul, who was standing beside them, also reached out and patted the palm tree’s arm, “Brother.”

The palm tree, his forehead beaded with cold sweat, asked, “What’s up?”

Vakul replied, “If you can’t hold up later, just let me take over.

I might not be very capable, but for this matter, I think I can handle it.”
