Empire Rising: Spain

Because of the short distance, this army arrived around Fuban the next day and launched an attack on the third day.

Back then, in response to the Spanish Army’s invasion, the Bam Sultan had summoned the majority of the soldiers from the entire Kingdom.

The Sultan’s direct troops had all been deployed, leaving only small forces from other tribal leaders within the Bam Kingdom, numbering only a few thousand in total.

Facing the Spanish Army’s attack, these soldiers formed by different tribes were quick to collapse, not daring to confront the Spanish Army head-on.

Under the bombardment of twenty cannons, Fuban’s defensive forces were quickly destroyed, allowing the Spanish Army to capture this city of hundreds of thousands of people at little cost.

After occupying Fuban, the Spanish Army wasted no time in implementing military management, strictly forbidding any indigenous people from appearing outside their homes.

If any indigenous person dared to step out, regardless of the reason, they would be executed without exception.

Under such high-pressure policies, the indigenous people didn’t dare to leave their homes, cowering inside as they trembled and awaited their fate.

After dealing with the indigenous people in the city, the Spanish Army turned its attention elsewhere, digging trenches south of Fuban, quietly waiting for the main force of the Bam Kingdom to arrive.

As thousands of indigenous people drew closer to Fuban, the hope in the Bam Sultan’s heart gradually faded.

What he faced was not an unprepared and sparse Spanish Army, but a well-dug defensive position, and he could not even make out how many Spanish soldiers were inside.

In a way, the indigenous people in the city inadvertently contributed to the Spanish Army.

The reason the Spanish Army was able to dig well-prepared defensive positions in such a short period was mainly due to the large amount of indigenous labor in the city.

With the help of these indigenous people, the positions took shape. After a simple adjustment by the Spanish Army, it became the seemingly impregnable defensive position in front of his eyes.

Gradually, the indigenous soldiers slowed their pace.

They stared dumbfounded at the positions before them, unsure of what to say.

Gulp!

Some indigenous soldiers couldn’t help but swallow hard, their eyes filled with fear and panic.

”Fire!”

Seeing these indigenous people arriving within range, the Spanish Army hesitated not at all, and the leading officer immediately issued the order to open fire.

In an instant, the sound of rifles firing and cannons launching were continuous, like thunderclaps.

Boom! Bang! Bang!

A shell, almost by coincidence, landed just over twenty meters in front of the Bam Sultan.

The indigenous soldiers standing there were immediately blown to pieces, the blast wave from the exploding shell quickly reached the Bam Sultan, making him instantly dizzy and his ears ring.

The Bam Sultan was comparatively lucky, merely being hit by the blast wave of the exploding shell.

Other soldiers were not so fortunate; those within the explosion’s radius were quickly torn apart and severely injured by the shell fragments.

In an instant, wails of despair filled the air amongst the indigenous people. After a long and arduous escape, their fighting spirit had already crumbled.

Now, once again bombarded by artillery, even the indigenous people who luckily weren’t hit couldn’t help but feel hopeless.

With strong enemies in front and pursuers behind, where was their path to survival?

The answer was nowhere.

To eliminate future threats, the Spanish Army would show no mercy to these indigenous soldiers.

Spain did not lack manpower, so before the action, Giotto communicated with all Spanish officers, making it clear that this war was to thoroughly eliminate these indigenous soldiers.

From the Sultan of the Bam Kingdom to every indigenous soldier of the Bam Army, all were on the Spanish Army’s kill list.

Even ordinary civilians would be partially cleared out, after all, Spain didn’t have enough food to feed them all.

Of course, on the surface, Spain still had to appear like a civilized country.

The official cause of death for these indigenous people wouldn’t be labeled as massacres by Spain but rather deaths due to plague or other diseases.

Wouldn’t it seem normal for tens of thousands of indigenous people to die from a plague? Anyway, this was what other countries were doing, and Spain felt no psychological burden following suit.

The war soon ended, with thousands of indigenous people unable to hold out for long.

The Spanish Army, well-equipped and fully stocked with bullets and shells, mercilessly suppressed the indigenous forces.

Under the firepower suppression, the indigenous people couldn’t lift their heads. More fatally, the high ground was occupied by the Spanish Army, while the indigenous ones were in an open plain with no cover.

They were practically living targets, and the Spanish Army wouldn’t miss such a perfect opportunity for target practice.

Moreover, nearly all indigenous soldiers equipped with rifles had been wiped out; only the Sultan’s supervisory team still had rifles.

The supervisory team was at the far rear, unable to advance under artillery suppression.

This left the indigenous forces with no counterattack capability; they were like fixed targets, helplessly waiting for the bullets meant for them.

After a day, Giotto led the main force to Fuban.

Upon learning of the indigenous people’s complete annihilation, Giotto was overjoyed and immediately ordered the soldiers to deliver the news to the Guinea Colony, ensuring Carlo received the good news promptly.
