Empire Rising: Spain

”Language can be deceptive, but experiment results won’t be,” Benz said with a smile, ”We have comprehensive experimental data regarding this automobile. If anyone is interested, you can also receive a copy to look at.

Of course, we’ve also prepared some simple experiments for your reference. We have quite enough confidence in this groundbreaking automobile.

You are right; it truly is a transportation tool that can completely replace the carriage. Everyone, a new era of transportation is about to arrive.

Riding in this automobile, we can shorten travel time by at least half. This will greatly change our lives, and it’s one of the reasons Mercedes-Benz Company was founded.”

Hearing that there are experiment data and related demonstrations to watch, most of the onlookers believed Benz’s data.

After all, Benz had no reason to deceive people, even though exaggerating the data can indeed create a lot of buzz. But once such automobiles are sold and buyers find that the cars in their hands are not as great as Benz claimed, the reputation of Mercedes-Benz Company could collapse instantly.

The automotive testing soon began. To let the onlookers personally experience the speed and stability of the car, those interested could apply for a ride to get a feel of it.

Of course, such slots are destined to be limited. Besides journalists from some more famous newspapers, only a few distinguished guests could enjoy this experience.

As for the majority of ordinary people, they only had the right to watch.

Most people were eagerly looking forward to personally riding this big machine.

Fortunately, the exhibition venue was spacious enough that several cars traveling together didn’t feel crowded.

To directly showcase the car’s speed, all cars participating in the test drove at maximum speed.

When these journalists boarded the car and experienced the speed of 36 kilometers per hour, they were quite surprised.

Although today’s cars don’t offer the same comfort as future vehicles, in terms of speed alone, they have already far exceeded the horse-drawn carriages people usually ride.

Even the trams that have become popular in Europe in recent years can’t match the speed of horse-drawn carriages.

Take Spain, for example, where tram speeds generally don’t exceed 20 kilometers per hour to ensure safety on city roads.

Besides trains running at full speed exceeding 36 kilometers per hour, no other mode of transportation can reach the level of 36 kilometers per hour.

This is why the journalists were surprised; in terms of speed alone, this so-called automobile already surpasses the vast majority of transportation tools.

Due to the high number of people wanting to experience the car, the few participating test cars basically didn’t shut down, and they were almost always running at full speed except for loading and unloading passengers.

Thanks to the engine’s stability, the cars didn’t encounter any problems during prolonged driving, only stopping when all the fuel ran out.

Of course, before stopping, Benz had already explained in detail the type of fuel the engines use and how far each car can travel on a full tank.

Under the watchful eyes of the journalists, once the fuel was refilled in these cars, they quickly started up again.

This made the journalists begin to believe what Benz had said, that the car before their eyes was indeed a groundbreaking vehicle, surpassing carriages in terms of utility.

Putting aside anything else, just the act of continuously driving hundreds of kilometers is something a carriage cannot achieve.

After all, horses are animals and always need to eat, drink, and relieve themselves. Cars, on the other hand, only need the fuel they carry, and as they run, the exhaust pipe expels the waste gases produced from burning, wasting no extra time at all.

”Mr. Benz, is your company considering selling such car technology?” In the line of journalists waiting to experience the car, foreign capitalists had already approached Benz, wanting to purchase Mercedes-Benz Company’s car technology.

With the automotive technology shown at the current exhibition, other countries’ car companies are far from being able to match it.

Much like previous electricity and tram technologies, these foreign investors were keen on acquisition. If they could acquire Mercedes-Benz Company’s automotive technology, they could sell these cars in their own countries and earn a lot of money.

”I’m sorry, but currently we are not considering selling any car-related technology,” Benz shook his head, saying with slight regret.

Before the man could reply, Benz continued, ”But in the future, we will consider establishing more factories in more countries and are willing to collaborate with more foreign capital.”

Carlo’s goal was to sell Mercedes-Benz cars worldwide, but such a goal couldn’t be achieved with just one Mercedes-Benz Company headquarters.

Even the European market alone requires several car companies to develop together. Not to mention the United States market; it’s impossible to control too much market scale without setting up several factories.

To establish factories in other countries, cooperation with these countries’ capital is absolutely necessary.

Trying to control the majority of the car market on one’s own with just Spanish capital is impossible; this would provoke the vigilance of other countries and also make many foreign investors hostile.
