Empire Rising: Spain

Chapter 189: Chapter 45: Treasure Hunting Collaboration (Part 3)

As for the intelligence agency established by Carlo, Prime Minister Prim does not have much objection. After all, the government cannot stop the actions of the King, and although Carlo does not have much power, the King of Spain is not just a figurehead.

Pressing too hard would not be beneficial for either Prime Minister Prim or Carlo. Maintaining the current balance is the most suitable choice, as it won’t delay Prime Minister Prim’s reforms for the government and Spain, nor will it hinder Carlo’s power arrangements.

Prime Minister Prim and Carlo are naturally aware of the current situation of the Spanish government. Now, Prime Minister Prim is the absolute leader of the Spanish government, and Carlo’s influence is far less than that of Prime Minister Prim.

But such power will have to be returned to Carlo in the future. Until their respective plans are completed, neither Carlo nor Prime Minister Prim is willing to damage their relationship with the other.

Since Carlo expressed his willingness to bear the cost of this operation, Prime Minister Prim naturally has nothing to say. Even if there is no so-called treasure, it would at most be considered a playful endeavor for the government and the young King.

The proposals made by the King each year are not many, and Prime Minister Prim certainly cannot frequently dismiss the King’s opinions.

Moreover, such a proposal does not cause significant loss to the government, it merely involves selecting a reliable group from the military to cooperate with the King on an operation.

“If that’s the case, then there’s no problem. But Your Majesty, according to the plan you mentioned, the government will act as the actual leader of this operation.

If the treasure share is too small, the government will have nothing to gain. I suggest splitting the shares fifty-fifty, as such distribution is fair for both the Royal Family and the government,” Prime Minister Prim continued.

“The government is willing to cooperate with Your Majesty the King’s operation, and if this treasure exists, regardless of which country’s territory it is on, we can bring it back to Spain.”

Carlo certainly knew that a seventy-thirty split was impossible, and Prime Minister Prim would never agree to a thirty percent share.

The proposal for a seventy-thirty split was actually meant to achieve a fifty-fifty split. If a fifty-fifty split was proposed from the beginning, Prime Minister Prim would most likely continue to lower it, resulting in a smaller share for the Imperial Family.

It’s like negotiating a business deal, initially setting a high price, then gradually negotiating it down. Prime Minister Prim also understood that a seventy-thirty split was not Carlo’s bottom line, and his intentions were clear too; the government can cooperate with Carlo’s actions, but the share must be a relatively fair number.

For Carlo, a fifty-fifty split is completely acceptable. The Temple Treasure is said to be worth tens of billions, hundreds of billions, or even trillions.

Although Carlo is not sure how much the Indian Temple Treasure is, a half share for the Royal Family would definitely not be small.

Currently, the Royal Family’s total assets are only several million pesetas, and obtaining this treasure could potentially increase the Royal Family’s assets several times.

What could be more appealing than such a windfall? The Spanish government will use its share to develop Spain as a whole, and the stronger Spain becomes, the more benefits it will bring to Carlo.

Carlo feigned hesitation and finally nodded, saying reluctantly, “Then let’s split it fifty-fifty, Prime Minister Prim.

But I hope there will be no changes, the Royal Family accepts at least a fifty-fifty split. I hope our cooperation will be enjoyable.”

“Of course, Your Majesty the King.” Obtaining a fifty percent share, Prime Minister Prim was quite satisfied. He smiled and nodded, assuring Carlo, “Our cooperation will be enjoyable, and I hope we can see this treasure soon. I’m quite eager myself.”
