Crafting an Immortal Race with Daily Hexagrams

Chapter 418: Chapter 211: Purple Thunder Break Extreme (Part 6)

”If Brother Ming wants to implement this strategy, he needs to think of some rewards to appease everyone.”

After going over the conversation between the two in his mind, Shen Chongming nodded slightly.

Speaking of rewards, he actually had a good idea.

”Grandfather has organized many inheritances related to the Hundred Skills of Cultivation over the years. Would it be suitable to use this as a reward?”

Lu Zhiyuan’s expression was slightly stunned, and then he widened his eyes and said, ”I think this is a very good idea!”

”Using the Hundred Skills of Cultivation as a reward can encourage each family to specialize in one skill. In the long run, if each affiliated clan can achieve something in one of the Hundred Skills of Cultivation, not only will they be self-sufficient, but they may also pay tribute to the main family.”

Shen Chongming was somewhat excited by his words.

If this is truly the case, among the affiliated clans under his rule, some may excel in Alchemy, others in Talisman Making, and others in Artifact Refining...

The Shen Family collects tribute from them and provides protection—it was indeed a good arrangement.

However, thinking it over carefully, implementing this might prove difficult.

Not to mention how long it will take for each affiliated clan to achieve something in one of the Hundred Skills of Cultivation.

Just enforcing it this way may easily lead these affiliated clans to break away from our control.

Still, there seems to be no other method at the moment, so for the time being, this will have to do.

Fortunately, the Shen Family currently has the absolute power to suppress them.

The three of them discussed the matter further, and after confirming that there were no flaws, Lu Zhiyuan instructed the accompanying Clan Court disciples to draw up the new clan rules, then notify the affiliated clans once it was finalized.

”Since this matter is settled, I have something to discuss with the patriarch,” Lu Zhiyuan said with a slight sigh, ”The Clan Court has been established for over thirty years.”

”In recent years, I have felt my energy fading, and fear I can no longer fulfill the role of Clan Chief.”

”The patriarch should select someone suitable within the Shen Family’s direct lineage to take over.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Chongming looked at him with a complex expression.

Literary Dao is not Immortal Dao; the Literary Heart nurtures the spirit but cannot nourish the body.

Lu Zhiyuan’s current strength is comparable to the Immortal Dao Fetal Breathing, but his lifespan barely matches that of a Qi Cultivation Realm Immortal Dao cultivator.

His body shows signs of decay, and his system is filled with the aura of decline.

Indeed, it is no longer appropriate for him to continue working for the Shen Family.

Yet, the Clan Court holds significant power, and not just anyone can be suited to the role of Clan Chief.

Among the Shen Family, Shen Chongxuan is thoughtful but lacks a certain majesty.

His younger brother Shen Chonghong has the majesty, but his character is not suitable for administering punishment; his personal likes and dislikes are evident, and he easily loses fairness.

As for Shen Chongxu, there’s no need to mention him; he has more faults and lacks self-discipline, let alone overseeing the Clan Court?

Apart from these three, He Zhongyi is of weak character...

Suddenly, an image popped into Shen Chongming’s mind.

”That girl should be able...”

After murmuring quietly, he cupped his hands towards Lu Zhiyuan and said, ”Indeed, it has been exhausting these years, Teacher. Chongming’s considerations were insufficient; I hope Teacher forgives me.”

Lu Zhiyuan waved his hand with a smile.

”Once the patriarch has a suitable candidate, let him come to the Clan Court to see me. I still need to guide them so they can successfully inherit the role.”

”If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave first.”

After the brothers stood up and respectfully saw Lu Zhiyuan off, Shen Chongxuan curiously said, ”Brother Ming is planning to let Li’Er take over the Clan Court?”

Shen Chongming nodded and said, ”Just let her act temporarily for a few years.”

”The Clan Court is a public instrument, holding the power of life and death over the clan. In the future, it should be taken over by a candidate for the Shen Family patriarch.”

Shen Chongxuan inwardly agreed with his elder brother’s words.

The Shen Family, newly established, still maintains respect and cooperation among the brothers of the third generation.

In the future, who can say for sure?

Having cultivated Literary Dao and read historical books, he has seen many secular families before the arrival of Immortal Sect, where after just a hundred years of inheritance, the same clan begins scheming against each other and turning into enemies.

Among the affiliated clans under the Shen Family’s rule, similar events of fratricide often arise due to disputes between the direct lineage and secondary branches.

”By the way, grandfather mentioned Chongxu had a romantic debt; do you know the specifics, Brother Xuan?”

Shen Chongming shifted the subject and asked.

Shen Chongxuan heavily sighed, showing a look of disappointment.

”The woman is a secondary line member of the Xingyang Liu Family.”

”Brother Ming accidentally saved the pair of siblings, and for some reason, later had a romantic encounter with Brother Ming.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Chongming’s eyes flashed coldly and he said, ”Does this have anything to do with the Liu Family?”

Daring to plot against the main family’s members, if established, he would eradicate the entire Liu Family on this alone!

”After grandfather learned of this, he secretly sent people to investigate.”

”The woman and her brother are illegitimate children born to the Liu Family master Liu Jing and a secular actress.”

”During their childhood, the siblings followed their birth mother, living in hardship until their mother’s death, having never been acknowledged by Liu Jing.”

”Later, during a Spirit Root screening, they were found to have Spirit Roots, prompting Liu Jing to secretly bring them into the family.”

”To avoid punishment from the Clan Court, he falsely claimed they were born to a deceased concubine, fearing to give their birth mother her status.”

Shen Chongxuan paused before continuing sternly:

”The encounter with Chongxu seems coincidental.”

”The siblings displayed a cultivation talent that made the Liu Family’s elder son envious, leading him to send the siblings to investigate the Spirit Field at Xingyang’s border, intending to use Southern Border Cultivators and Demon Beasts to eliminate them.”

”If there truly is a Liu Family plot behind this...”

”It can only mean Liu Jing is a remarkable character.”

After hearing these words, Shen Chongming’s gaze deepened as he fell into contemplation.

Based on Shen Chongxuan’s account, everything seemed to be a coincidence, lacking any conspiracy.

Yet, he dared not be careless.

Although it wouldn’t greatly impact the Shen Family, committing such insubordination, plotting against the main family, constitutes the greatest threat itself!

”What did Chongxu say?”

Shen Chongxuan hesitated slightly before saying, ”He only stated he would not marry that woman, saying nothing else.”

”I also secretly inquired about that brother and sister.”

”What did they say?” Shen Chongming asked sternly.

”They seek no status, only hoping the Shen Family allows them to keep the child.”

Upon hearing this, Shen Chongming’s face revealed a slight cold smile.

The pair likely guessed the Shen Family values bloodline; once the child is born, they would not be deprived of the child’s status.

”Please, Brother Xuan, arrange for that brother and sister to be brought to Yunshui City. I will meet them,” Shen Chongming said sternly, intending to see what they have planned!
