Chapter 275: Chapter 187: The Eccentric Cultivator (Part 3)

Recently, with the presence of Hundred Beasts Mountain, Qiyun Valley and the Fengxian County under its governance dared not easily extend their reach to the Western Wilderness.

Now that Hundred Beasts Mountain is no more, even after Luoxia Mountain seized He County, it has not immediately shown signs of claiming the Western Wilderness.

The Liu Family of Fengxian County has developed thoughts of seizing the Western Wilderness.

The Mu Family has reported on this matter, but Wei Qiuling does not wish to fall out with Qiyun Valley, hence she requested the Mu Family to avoid conflicts with the Liu Family of Fengxian County as much as possible.

As the Western Wilderness is vast, both sides could mind their own business without interfering with each other.

If the Mu Family suddenly backed off now, the Liu Family would likely take the opportunity to seize most of the territory of the Western Wilderness.

”Doesn’t matter.”

Wei Qiuling spoke calmly.

One must know when to quit while ahead; under changing circumstances, observing is safer than advancing recklessly.

Although Mu Changhe was somewhat unwilling, he did not dare to defy her wishes and could only reluctantly clasp his hands in acknowledgment.

After listening to the two report some matters regarding He County, Wei Qiuling said: ”Lingxun is about to give birth, since you are here today, you might as well go and see her.”

Mu Changhe got up in a hurry and clasped his hands.

His granddaughter Mu Lingxun married Shen Chongming as a concubine, and now she is finally about to give birth to a descendant for the Shen Family, which makes Mu Changhe very happy.

Despite being Mu Lingxun’s biological grandfather, Mu Changhe needs to go through several reports to see her in Shen Chongming’s small courtyard’s side room.

”Grandfather, how come you have time to see Lingxun today?”

In front of the pavilion, Mu Lingxun, with her big belly, looked at Mu Changhe and spoke with a smile.

She had been married into the Shen Family for more than a year, and this was her first time seeing her family.

Mu Changhe carefully examined his granddaughter in front of him.

”Your cultivation has broken through, and you look well.”

”It seems the Shen Family has not mistreated you.”

”Girl, does the young clan leader of the Shen Family treat you kindly?”

Mu Changhe looked around and asked in a low voice.

Mu Lingxun was startled and answered with a bit of grievance: ”I wouldn’t say he treats me kindly, but he isn’t distant either.”

Over the past year, Shen Chongming hasn’t shown much neglect towards her. All the necessities likewise, are regularly delivered to her.

Occasionally, during leisure, he would come to this side courtyard to sit and inquire about her life and cultivation matters.

Even Chen Youran of the main house would often bring Shen Xiuzhuo over to chat with her.

Hearing this, Mu Changhe’s eyes showed a hint of disappointment.

He had seen the main house’s Chen Youran, and compared to her, his granddaughter Mu Lingxun had a much superior appearance, and her temperament was more gentle.

Mu Changhe had once entertained the thought that after his granddaughter got married, she might be more favored.

”How are Ah Die and Ah Niang doing?” Mu Lingxun’s voice interrupted Mu Changhe’s thoughts.

”They are doing well, the family is doing well,” Mu Changhe replied with a smile: ”Girl, you must strive hard. If you can give birth to a child with a Spirit Root for the Shen Family, your status in the Shen Family may rise further.”

Hearing this, Mu Lingxun felt a bit uncomfortable.

Becoming a concubine in the Shen Family was already carrying a certain amount of opportunistic intentions.

Now that she was pregnant, even her unborn child was to be calculated for its value, which made her feel somewhat sorrowful.

Mu Changhe seemed to notice the change in his granddaughter’s expression and guessed her dislike for such topics. He sighed helplessly: ”Child, your grandfather does not wish it to be this way either.”

”However, the world is already like this. The Shen Family is currently at its peak, and even various Immortal Sects are wary of them.”

”My Mu Family’s foundation is too shallow. If it weren’t for this, who knows when we might fall out of favor.”

”By that time, if we regress, it would still be a good outcome, whereas those families that bear grudges against the Mu Family might take the chance to add insult to injury, devouring us whole.”

Upon hearing this, Mu Lingxun’s eyes showed a trace of fatigue.

Mu Changhe sighed slightly, pulled out a Jade Bottle from his bosom, and placed it in her hand, saying: ”Here are some Qi Nourishing Pills your grandfather saved. Take them and cultivate well after the child is born.”

”You or the child, if either one can secure a foothold in the Shen Family and become a pillar, it will provide greater help to the family.”

”Grandfather, I...” Mu Lingxun was about to say something when a figure entered through the courtyard gate.

”Sister... oh, is this Grandmaster Mu?”

Chen Youran walked in holding Shen Xiuzhuo. Seeing Mu Changhe, she was a bit surprised, then slightly bent over to greet him.

Mu Changhe hurriedly stood up and returned the greeting: ”An old man pays respect to the Young Madam.”

Mu Lingxun also discreetly hid the Jade Bottle containing the Qi Nourishing Pills in her sleeve and stood up to greet her ”sister.”

”Grandmaster Mu, there’s no need for this. Lingxun and I are sisters, and you are her elder, how can I accept such a courtesy?”

Chen Youran spoke with a smile.

Mu Changhe smiled along: ”This old man came here with Fish Fairy to report matters to the Immortal Master. The Immortal Master mentioned that Lingxun is about to give birth, so he specifically asked me to come see her.”

Chen Youran smiled upon hearing this: ”Since that’s the case, Youran won’t intrude on you and my sister.”

”Grandmaster Mu, please take a seat. Youran will have someone prepare a meal...”

”There’s no need for such trouble, Young Madam,” Mu Changhe quickly said: ”I have seen her, and there are still many matters to attend to in He County, I shall not linger.”

Saying so, he glanced at Mu Lingxun: ”Child, grandfather will head back now.”

”While here, listen to the words of the Young Madam and take care of your health.”

Turning around, he clasped his hands towards Chen Youran once more and then left in a hurry.

As the two watched Mu Changhe’s departing figure, Shen Xiuzhuo in Chen Youran’s arms reached out with small hands, attempting to get Mu Lingxun to hold him.

Chen Youran came to her senses, pretending to be cross, and said, ”Auntie has a baby in her belly and cannot hold you.”
