Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Blade Venerable looked at Lin Moyu with admiration in his eyes.

He could set aside his final strike.

The Dreadbeast Emperor and the Blade Zerg were undeniably powerful, but after suffering severe injuries and sleeping for many years, they had yet to fully recover.

Now, surrounded by their own kind, their defeat was inevitable.

Though curious, Blade Venerable chose not to pry.

Every class user carried secrets of their own, and given his current state, there was little point in asking.

Lin Moyu could tell that Blade Venerable was already dead.

He had endured only because the Dreadbeast Emperor and the Blade Zerg still lived, preserving that final strike solely for them.

Had he truly still been alive, he would have charged into battle long ago.

A clear boundary divided the two graveyard regions. One side belonged to the humans and the Gods; the other, to the Dreadbeasts and the Zerg.

Even in death, their soul remnants had continued fighting for countless years.

Lin Moyu surveyed the battlefield. The outcome was already decided; the demise of the Dreadbeast Emperor and the Blade Zerg was only a matter of time.

He turned back to Blade Venerable, “Senior, if it’s convenient, I have a few questions.”

Blade Venerable laughed heartily, “What’s inconvenient about it? Ask away.”

It was clear he regarded this junior highly.

Lin Moyu spoke directly, “Back then, after the Gods were plotted against and the humans were forced into a desperate struggle. From what I can tell, the gap in strength between the two sides was overwhelming. How did we actually win?”

Looking at the resurrected before him—thousands of half-step Transcendent God-level and dozens of Transcendent God-level—the strength of the Dreadbeasts and the Zerg far surpassed that of the humans.

Logically, the war should have ended in humanity’s defeat. Yet humanity ultimately prevailed.

Certainly, human unwavering resolve had played a part, as had the world will’s use of world force.

Antares had also intervened.

But Lin Moyu felt those alone could not have determined the outcome of the war. There had to be another reason.

Blade Venerable gave him a meaningful look, “You’re perceptive. There were indeed other factors. We received a batch of equipment, along with some miraculous medicinal pills.”

Lin Moyu paused in surprise, “Equipment? Pills?”

Blade Venerable nodded, “That’s right. A batch of Transcendent God-level equipment, and of high grade. With them, we could unleash power far beyond our limits.”

Lin Moyu’s gaze fell upon the blade in the Blade Venerable’s hand, then the sword wielded by Sword Venerable.

He had already suspected something unusual: the fact that soul remnants could still wield physical weapons meant those weapons were anything but ordinary.

Guessing his thoughts, Blade Venerable confirmed them, “You’re correct. It’s these weapons. Their power is extraordinary. They can amplify our combat strength immensely. I am only at Transcendent God 6th tier, yet with this blade, I can wield Transcendent God 8th tier power.”

“A leap of two entire tiers… That’s incredible.” Lin Moyu inhaled sharply.

At Transcendent God-level, the gap between each tier was tremendous.

Anyone below Transcendent God-level could never imagine it.

But Lin Moyu had personally experienced Antares increasing his power step by step, from Transcendent God 1st tier all the way to Transcendent God 9th tier, and eventually to the True God realm.

He understood just how insurmountable the difference between each tier truly was.

A two-tier gap was like the difference between level 80 and level 90, something numbers alone could not overcome.

Blade Venerable continued, “The Dreadbeast Emperor and the Blade Zerg are both Transcendent God 8th tier. Without this weapon, I wouldn’t stand a chance against either of them.”

The implication was obvious.

These weapons—not merely one or two, but an entire batch—had been one of the decisive reasons humanity achieved victory.

Lin Moyu asked, “And the pills? What kind were they.”

Blade Venerable replied, “They were just as important. They directly increased our strength. Before taking them, I was only at Transcendent God 4th tier. Even with this weapon, my combat strength would have peaked at Transcendent God 7th tier.”

“But after consuming the pills, I advanced to Transcendent God 6th tier. Combined with the weapon, I could reach Transcendent God 8th tier combat power.”

“I wasn’t the only one. Many of us relied on those pills to strengthen ourselves.”

Lin Moyu frowned, “Medicinal pills powerful enough to raise strength so quickly… they must have carried side effects.”

“Of course. The price was that we could never break past the Transcendent God tier. But what did it matter? As long as we won that war, it was enough. Had we lost, there would have been no future left to speak of.”

Blade Sovereign chuckled, completely unconcerned.

Lin Moyu sighed softly. It made perfect sense.

A medicine capable of granting such overwhelming power could never come without a cost.

In exchange for immediate strength, they had sacrificed all future potential.

The sacrifice was immense.

What true expert did not dream of climbing higher and reaching greater heights?

And yet, when faced with the destruction of their homeland, Blade Venerable and countless others had abandoned their futures without hesitation to gain the strength needed to protect the present.

Just as Blade Venerable had said, if that battle had been lost, there would have been no future at all.

Lin Moyu bowed respectfully to Blade Venerable, “This junior, on behalf of humanity, offers thanks to the Seniors.”

That bow was not only for Blade Venerable, but for every gravestone before him, for every human and God who had given their lives for this world.

Blade Venerable let out a chuckle, “Fortunately, we won.”

“Back then, those guys from the world beyond schemed against us, but luckily, someone was aiding us from the shadows.”

Lin Moyu knew the origins of those weapons and medicinal pills were far from ordinary.

Antares was as poor as a beggar; even if his scales could be forged into weapons, he could never have produced those miraculous medicinal pills.

By that logic, the assistance must have come from the world beyond.

Which meant that within the greater world, there had been people helping them.

“It must have been the humans of the greater world.”

In the greater world, humanity was an immensely powerful race, inferior to none.

Though this world had been reduced to a mere pawn, the humans there had still chosen to intervene.

Blade Venerable smiled, “Young fellow, tell me how the human race fares today.”

“After that battle, I fell into slumber and know not how many years have passed.”

“Very well.”

Lin Moyu began recounting the current state of humanity.

Over the past millennium, the humans had endured countless trials and upheavals, causing Blade Venerable’s expression to shift again and again as he listened.

Meanwhile, the battle had reached its conclusion.

The Dreadbeast Emperor was finally slain for good, its colossal body torn apart.

The Blade Zerg met the same fate, smashed into pieces by its own kind, its remains strewn across the battlefield.

Lin Moyu paid it no mind.

Without interrupting his narration, he casually released two flames.

The flames erupted, landing upon the Dreadbeast Emperor and the Blade Zerg.

Before Blade Venerable’s eyes, the two colossal creatures were resurrected.

The resurrected Dreadbeast Emperor immediately prostrated itself on the ground, showing absolute reverence toward Lin Moyu.

Blade Venerable could not help but marvel at Lin Moyu’s law art. To resurrect the dead and bind them in complete obedience…

Fortunately, Lin Moyu was human.

Had he belonged to another race, even Blade Venerable’s soul remnant felt a chill at the thought of becoming such a puppet after death.

At last, Lin Moyu finished recounting humanity’s history.

Blade Venerable sighed softly, “I never imagined the human race would continue to suffer so many hardships.”

“What is it with those races from the world beyond? One after another, they set their sights upon our world and kept coming.”

“What is so special about this world that draws them here?”

Lin Moyu remained silent. Some truths needed no explanation.

Suddenly, Blade Venerable burst into hearty laughter, “But this is good as well. At least humanity has endured to this day, and among us has risen a prodigy like you. I have a feeling that humanity has nothing to fear.”

“Rest assured, Senior. Humanity will be safe.”

Lin Moyu’s voice was firm and unwavering.

Blade Venerable laughed once more. At that moment, he finally let go.

At long last, the great war had truly come to an end.

He had fought in life and continued fighting after death. It was finally time for it all to end.
