Chapter 1018: JI YUNʼS BIRTHDAY (III)

SHEN JI YUN walked upstairs with a blindfold on. Since he was deprived of his vision, his uncle was supporting him from the side and also leading him to wherever place they should go. Since thereʼs only one place to go by going upstairs, so itʼs understandable where his uncle was leading him.

Itʼs towards the rooftop deck.

Their houseʼs rooftop deck was not usually use. But a housekeeper that came by the house every week cleaned it weekly. It also had a glass enclosure and a retractable roof that could protect the people from extreme weather and even provide insulation against the cold. So, it wouldnʼt be a bad idea to have a party there.

Since today was his birthday, the surprise that they had prepared for him must be there. He already somewhat expected what it could be, so now the problem was how should he act surprise. Luo Yan definitely helped in preparing this surprise, so if his reaction was stale, it might disappoint the other.

”Weʼre here, Ji Yun. You can take off the blindfold now.”

Hearing his uncle say that, Shen Ji Yun raised his hand and removed the blindfold. Because his eyes had been in the dark for quite a while, it needed time to adjust to the sudden brightness. Once it did, the first thing he saw was the long table filled with different food.

When he did a quick glance, he saw tables and chairs. Not that many, just enough for a few people. The rooftop deck was also decorated, not in some kind of overly tacky manner, but in something subdued and very minimalist. Like one flower on a long glass on each of the table, small lights that it looked like they were floating around, and there were even three classic arcade machines lined up on one side.

And thatʼs only when he noticed the other people around. Uncle Yue, Bai Ze, Su Yuqi, Luo Jin, and even Brother Zhao were all here. Wait- but whereʼs Luo Yan?

”Happy birthday, Ji Yun,” his uncle said.

Then a soft happy birthday tune started to play. It was followed by the people around singing ʼhappy birthdayʼ while clapping their hands.

”Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!~”

And then the people parted, and he finally saw the person heʼs looking for.

Luo Yan was walking towards him, holding a tray of cake that was shaped like a chibi qilin. But that was not what caught Shen Ji Yunʼs attention. It was the white rabbit ears on top of Luo Yanʼs head. The way it twitched and moved up and down like a real fluffy rabbit ears made him imagine things that he probably shouldnʼt at the moment.

He had to focus his gaze on Luo Yanʼs face before his imagination started taking him somewhere he shouldnʼt. But that didnʼt really help. Since the otherʼs beautiful face only fed his active imagination more.

With the combination of Luo Yanʼs face and those fluffy rabbit ears, he felt like he just received a double shot of cuteness. An 18-year-old boy wearing such things should.

He took a deep breath to prevent his face from heating up and looking like some kind of red apple in front of everyone.

”Happy birthday, Brother Ji Yun,” Luo Yan greeted once he stood in front of him. Then he stretched out his hands, holding the cake. ”Blow your candles!”

Shen Ji Yun bowed down and once again blew a birthday candle. After he did that, everyone walked towards him. While Luo Yan put down the cake on the table with the other dishes.

”Ji Yun here,” Bai Ze said, handing Shen Ji Yun a small paper bag.

Since the paper bag was not sealed, Shen Ji Yun easily saw whatʼs inside. Itʼs a box of perfume. He looked at Bai Ze in confusion, wondering why the other gave him such an item.

Bai Ze seemed to have read what he was thinking because he quickly whispered, ”Itʼs Xiao Yanʼs favorite perfume scent.”

Shen Ji Yun immediately understood when he heard that. Bai Ze must have asked Luo Yan about this and then bought this perfume after. Although heʼs not the type to use perfume, if itʼs a scent that Luo Yan liked, then heʼs willing to try. He almost gave Bai Ze a thumbs up.

He cleared his throat and said in a very mature manner, ”I will use it well.”

”My gift is a game item. So just check it out later,” Su Yuqi said.

”Mine as well,” Luo Jin followed with a very reluctant expression. As if heʼs still wondering why he was even here.

After the three finished, they made way for the other two adults.

”Happy birthday, Ji Yun,” Brother Zhao greeted, patting his shoulder.

It seemed that the other had cleaned up quite well before coming here. Considering that Brother Zhao wouldnʼt even bother shaving his beard or even combing his hair, even wearing wrinkled clothes when he went out. Which was why he was often avoided by people who didnʼt know him well.

”Thank you, Brother Zhao.”

Uncle Yue then gave him a quick hug. ”Happy birthday, Xiao Yun. Hereʼs my gift for you.”

Shen Ji Yun accepted the gift box Uncle Yue gave him. ”Thank you, Uncle Yue.”

”I made something with Ah Cheng. It will be our gift for you. But it will still need some testing, so you might have to wait quite a while to receive it,” his uncle said.

”Itʼs really cool, so youʼll definitely like it,” Brother Zhao added.

[I think Xiao Yan will like it more.]—Shen Yi Mu thought, but decided not to voice that out. Anyway, as long as Luo Yan liked it, his nephew would like it as well.

Shen Ji Yun thanked the two. He didnʼt really mind that he had to wait to receive their gift. Luo Yan walked towards him then and pulled him to one of the tables so he could put his gifts there.

”Brother Ji Yun, Iʼll give you your gift later.”

Shen Ji Yun finally could no longer stop himself and raised his hand to pinch the fluffy rabbit ear. ”I think I already receive more than enough.”
