Tyrant Sky Martial Soul

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Dominant Strike_1

While Ling Xiao was chatting with Ling Yihang, the Master of Tianfeng City had already finished speaking.

The grand event of Tianfeng City was thus officially inaugurated.

The competition method of this event was somewhat special.

It adopted the mode of seizing the platform.

There were a total of ten platforms.

Anyone could go up to become the platform master, choose a platform position that suited them, and then accept challenges.

If they lost, they naturally had to step down from the platform. Each person was restricted to three challenge opportunities, but these three opportunities would only be used up if the challenge failed—if they kept winning, they wouldn’t be consumed.

The rules were actually very simple and quite interesting.

”Now, take the platforms!”

As the host of the event, the City Lord of Tianfeng City had barely finished speaking when suddenly dozens of figures darted out.

Some flew out from the pavilions.

Others flew out from the kiosks.

And still others shot out from the woods.

Clearly, there were many contenders for the platforms, but those with stronger light-work skills naturally held a greater advantage.

In just an instant, all ten platforms had been occupied.

Li Xinghui took the highest platform.

Ling Chen was next.

Shi Fei Yu was third.

Wang Zui was fourth.

Shi Yu Lian was fifth.

The remaining five platforms, four of them were divided among the Li Clan, Wang Clan, and Shi Clan. Only the tenth-ranked platform was taken by a disciple from a medium-sized family.

To the disgrace of the Ling Family, aside from Ling Chen, Ling Xiao, Ling Yihang, and Ling Yixue actually hadn’t moved.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to move.

The key was that they had not been informed of such rules by anyone, so they didn’t move at all.

This slight hesitation made it too late to compete.

”Hahaha, the Ling Family is laughable to think they stand equal with the other Three Great Families; only Ling Chen managed to take a platform.”

”Exactly, are those three idiots?”

”Isn’t that Ling Xiao said to have defeated Ling Feifan? I think he must have used some sneaky tricks!”

The disciples of the Li Clan, Shi Clan, and Wang Clan had no goodwill toward the Ling Family and naturally took the opportunity to kick them while they were down.

Strictly speaking, none of the Four Great Clans had any goodwill toward any other clan, but it was only because the performance of the Ling Family was so poor that they were mocked.

”I can’t sit still any longer!” declared Ling Yihang as he stood up.

”Then go have some fun, but don’t lose, okay? Just grab the fourth or fifth would do.”

Ling Xiao said with a smile.

”You make it sound so easy,” replied Ling Yihang with a wry smile. However, he did not disappoint Ling Xiao. After stepping up, the first person he called out to challenge was none other than the fourth-ranked Wang Zui.

Logically, he might have had an easier win challenging Shi Yu Lian, but he disliked fighting women.

Ling Yihang was just that kind of a man with peculiar temperament.

”Wang Zui, do you dare to battle with me!”

Ling Yihang stood with his hands clasped behind his back, his long saber slung at his waist, looking quite carefree and natural.

”Although I deign not to fight with you, I do not wish to break the rules. So, if it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’ll get!”

Wang Zui sat atop the platform, actually showing no intention of even standing up.

Ling Yihang sneered inwardly.

However, he said nothing.

He didn’t care for lip service.

”This Ling Yihang is really audacious, daring to directly challenge one of the Four Young Masters, Wang Zui.”

”Anyway, there are three chances. Losing just means it’s a friendly exchange; I wouldn’t be afraid if it were me.”

”But what’s the point of sparring with someone whose strength is far below yours? It won’t lead to any improvement at all, right?”

”I think he’s just putting on airs, like a pig trying to look dignified by wearing leeks on its nose. He must have felt that our earlier comments were unpleasant and just wanted to save face—too bad he’s more likely to lose face instead.”

The crowd below the stage was discussing, none holding out much hope for Ling Yihang, which made Wang Zui even more arrogant; he didn’t even prepare to stand up for the fight.

”Sitting here, I can easily defeat you, so there’s no need for me to stand.”

He said that facing Ling Yihang.

”Ling Yihang challenges Wang Zui, begin!”

As the command from the Master of Tianfeng City was issued, a dazzling blade light touched down almost simultaneously.

Then they saw Wang Zui lying on the stage like a dead dog, bleeding from seven orifices but thankfully, not dead.

”Idiot!”

Ling Yihang finally vented the anger he had been bottling up. Seeing Wang Zui being carried off the stage, he finally felt a sense of elation.

”What ’Four Young Masters’? He’s just a temporary frontrunner, so full of himself and foolish beyond measure!”

Having said that, Ling Yihang plunged his long saber into the stage and watched the rest of the challenges with high spirits.

”It seems we all misjudged. The strongest in the Ling Family might not be Ling Chen or Ling Xiao, but this Ling Yihang. His strength is too overwhelming. I could feel the chilling intent from that slash!”

”That’s right, I felt it too. To defeat Wang Zui with a single slash; no one else can match that strength, and it’s very possible even Li Xinghui couldn’t beat him.”

That’s just how people are: whoever performs better gains more respect and admiration.

Ling Yihang’s single slash that severely injured Wang Zui showcased a truly terrifying level of strength.

The subsequent challenges seemed somewhat lackluster by comparison.

No one challenged the top five stages, they only aimed for the stages ranked six to ten.

However, the ones occupying those stages were not to be trifled with, so aside from Ling Yihang’s successful first challenge, there was not a single other successful challenge.

”Junior Brother, I’ll go up and give it a try too.”

Ling Yixue said to Ling Xiao after looking at him.

”Go ahead, but remember not to challenge Shi Yu Lian. That woman is much stronger than she appears. Shi Fei Yu, on the other hand, is a good opponent. You can choose him.”

Ling Xiao advised.

Somehow, Ling Xiao’s status in Ling Yixue’s eyes had become even higher than that of the Ling Family’s senior elders.

Whenever she had doubts, she would not go to those people but would directly ask Ling Xiao instead.

”Okay, I’ll listen to you!”

Ling Yixue stepped onto the stage and gave Shi Fei Yu a bow, saying, ”I am Ling Yixue. I hope for your guidance!”

”What’s with the Ling Family members, challenging one of the Four Young Masters right off the bat?”

”Maybe they really do have the ability.”

”Hmm, let’s not jump to conclusions, better wait and see.”

”Look at you guys, all so timid. I don’t believe that after Ling Yihang, the Ling Family can produce someone even stronger than him.”

Ling Yixue’s challenge against Shi Fei Yu instantly propelled the Tianfeng Grand Gathering to a new peak, surprising everyone.

And they were also somewhat expectant.

”Ling Chen, the people of your Ling Family are quite domineering,” said Li Xinghui, glancing at Ling Chen.

”Don’t say that to me; I don’t know that cheap woman,” Ling Chen replied coldly. ”Besides, with her strength, it’s highly unlikely she’ll win. She’s only ranked sixth in the annual competition, and that’s only because someone else was in closed-door cultivation; otherwise, it wouldn’t be her turn.”

”Is that so?”

Li Xinghui frowned slightly and said nothing more.

Shi Fei Yu took Ling Yixue very seriously, especially after Wang Zui’s lesson. He certainly didn’t want to capsize in the canal, so he employed his best defensive martial arts right from the start.

”Isn’t that the beginner-level top defensive martial art ’Iron Armor Divine Skill’?”

”Yes, Shi Fei Yu swept through his opponents with the Iron Armor Divine Skill at last year’s Tianfeng Grand Gathering. He only lost to Li Xinghui and Wang Zui, and at that time his Iron Armor Divine Skill had just reached the stage of Small Success. I wonder how much he has improved this year.”

”He must’ve at least reached the Mastery Level.”

”If that’s the case, it’s even more daunting. A top defensive martial art, even at the beginner level, is very difficult to master.”

Amidst the murmuring, Shi Fei Yu had already launched his attack.

While executing the ”Iron Armor Divine Skill,” one’s body seemed as if clad in iron armor, significantly enhancing defense and simultaneously boosting attack strength.
