A New Life in Fairy Tail

”Hahahahaha! I was wondering what you were up to, and it turns out you just called over a pretty boy! Do you really think adding one more pretty boy is enough to beat me? Heeheeheeheehee!”

The blonde man, Zancrow, laughed wildly, his voice dripping with undisguised mockery.

Erza and Ultear were both momentarily stunned by his words.

”Pretty boy?”

”Well, he does kind of look like one.”

They both turned to look at Noah. After so many years of training, he hadn’t developed a body of explosive muscle. Instead, because he was always reading and doing research, he gave off a scholarly and refined aura. With his clothes covering him, his true physical strength was not at all apparent.

Hearing them, Noah rolled his eyes. He was just handsome and kept himself in shape; he wasn’t a ”pretty boy.”

Ignoring their comments, Noah stepped forward and asked Ultear, ”What’s the situation with these two?”

”They’re strong,” Ultear said, her teasing expression gone. ”That blonde one uses a magic that creates a special black flame. It’s extremely hard to extinguish and very powerful. The ice I created just melts the moment it touches his fire. I haven’t seen the other one use magic, but his physical strength is immense. He pushed over an entire building with one shove.”

Noah nodded, looking at the two men. The blonde, Zancrow, used the Lost Magic, Fire God Slayer Magic. He called himself a ”God Slayer” and could use the flames of a ”God,” which were said to be superior to those of a ”Dragon.” His magic had been taught to him by the master of Grimoire Heart, Hades. The tall man beside him, Kain Hikaru, used the Lost Magic ”Ushi no Koku Mairi,” a type of curse magic. By sticking a target’s hair onto a doll, he could control their actions, and by using his own hair, he could strengthen or change his own body.

Both of their magic types were powerful. It would indeed be a very difficult fight for the current Erza and Ultear.

”These two are definitely strong. Even I’m feeling the pressure.”

Hearing this, Ultear and Erza were both speechless. These two were, at most, a little stronger than them. Noah was saying he felt ”pressure”? Were they just dreaming during their exams when he had beaten them so effortlessly?

”Hahahahaha! You’ve got some self-awareness, knowing you’re no match for us! Then hurry up and die!” Zancrow roared with laughter.

Kain added, ”Th-th-th-then let’s hurry up and kill them all.”

”That’s right. Our mission was to kill all the residents here anyway. One or two more wizards doesn’t matter. You just have bad luck! Heeheeheeheehee!”

With that, black flames erupted from Zancrow’s right hand, and he charged at them.

”Sigh. That’s not really what I meant, but oh well—” Noah held out his right hand, and a golden magic circle unfolded, a massive amount of magic power gathering in front of it.

In that instant, both Zancrow and Kain felt an immense sense of danger and simultaneously unleashed their own magic with all their might. Zancrow immediately retracted the flames on his hand, and a black magic circle appeared in front of him.

”Bellow of the Flame God!” A torrent of black fire surged from the magic circle, rushing towards Noah.

Kain pulled out a doll with the character for ”curse” written on its head, stuck a strand of his own hair on it, and held it up. ”Doll Material Change: Light Body!” His body instantly began to glow, turning into a being of pure light. He then pushed his palm forward. ”Shining Push!”

A massive amount of black fire and light shot towards Noah. Just then, his own spell was ready.

”Heaven’s Sundering Light!”

A massive torrent of light magic surged forth, forming a cannon that crashed into the incoming fire and light.

The moment they made contact, with barely a sign of resistance, the black flames and the light were torn apart by Noah’s beam, which continued straight towards the two men.

A huge explosion occurred. Countless clouds of dust and smoke rose up, obscuring the scene. The powerful shockwave from the blast blew away the surrounding buildings and even extinguished the black flames that were still burning. The little pink-haired girl in Erza’s arms was startled by the massive sound, and her crying stopped. Erza quickly hugged her and turned, using her own back to shield her from the powerful wind.

Ultear held a hand up in front of her face, half-closing her eyes as she looked towards the explosion. ”Are they dead?”

Noah shook his head. ”No. I specifically controlled the power. The ’pressure’ I mentioned was the fear of accidentally killing them. But, they are quite impressive—”

As he spoke, the wind blew away the smoke, revealing the scene inside. The two of them were in a large crater. Zancrow was standing, covered in injuries and panting heavily. He had used his full power to weaken Noah’s attack, but he was still severely wounded.

Nearby, Kain’s entire body was shining with a metallic luster. ”Doll Material Change: Iron!” He had transformed his own body into steel to increase his attack and defense, allowing him to block the attack. But his magic was nearly depleted, and the spell gave out. The moment his body returned to normal, his legs gave out, and he fell to one knee, panting, sweat pouring from his body.

”Good physical strength, good magic... and my own good control,” Noah said, looking at the two who were still standing after taking a controlled hit from him.

”So what now? Do we capture them?” Ultear asked, once again marveling at Noah’s strength.

Noah nodded. ”First, we’ll restrain them. Then we’ll see if there are any other survivors.”

As he spoke, he prepared to walk towards them. Zancrow, in the crater, heard their conversation and let out a furious laugh. ”Haha... cough, cough... hahaha! You want to capture us alive? Who the hell do you think you are?!”

”Huh? Did I hit you so hard you went stupid? I’m the one who’s here to capture you.”
