She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 32: The dance

The penthouse salon felt worlds apart from the formal buzz below. Soft jazz slipped through hidden speakers, the dimmed lights casting gentle shadows over polished marble floors.

Floor-to-ceiling windows revealed the city’s glittering heartbeat, but no one glanced outside... not when the room itself was alive.

Elena moved first, just as Alex had expected. She stepped forward with the fluid grace. A slow smile played on her lips, equal parts invitation and dare.

”Well then,” she said, her voice low and smooth as silk, extending her hand. ”Let’s see if you move as well as you talk.”

Alex took her hand, his thumb brushing across her knuckles. ”Careful what you ask for,” he murmured, pulling her close with deliberate confidence.

She led him to the center, hips already swaying with practiced sensuality. His arm settled around her waist, and a shiver shot through her spine, a fire igniting beneath skin and bone. Her breath hitched; every nerve sang.

”You’re dangerous,” she murmured into his ear, lips brushing the shell, voice trembling with a mixture of warning and need. Her hips pressed forward, testing, teasing. ”I can tell.”

The contact wasn’t just touch, it was a charge, a pulse that spread, slow and deep, igniting pleasure that outpaced reason.

What is this feeling? Elena’s thoughts scattered like sparks in the wind. I’m melting... like I’m eighteen again, raw and wild and burning up.

Her hands slid up his back, fingers tracing hidden patterns. She pressed against him, breath shallow and quickening.

”That’s it,” Alex encouraged, his voice low and approving. He spun her suddenly, catching her off-guard, then pulled her back against his chest. ”Stop thinking. Just feel.”

The music became a primal rhythm, her body unchained after years of restraint. When the last note faded, she stayed close, forehead resting lightly against his.

”Jesus,” she whispered, then louder, ”Jesus, Victoria. Where did you find him?”

Alex smiled, still holding her steady. ”The night’s just getting started.”

_____

Patricia had watched with a careful eye, military precision sharpening her gaze as she cataloged every flicker, every quiver. But as Elena stepped away, breathless and undone, something stirred in Patricia’s chest... an ember long buried beneath discipline and iron will.

Control, Hamilton, she told herself, straightening her spine. You’ve stared down generals. You can handle a dance.

Alex’s eyes caught hers, and he approached with predatory grace. ”Senator Hamilton,” he said, voice carrying subtle challenge. ”Your turn.”

All her confidence wavered under his direct gaze.

”My turn,” she said, voice steady but softer, carrying the quiet power that silenced entire rooms.

Where Elena blazed with fire, Patricia was a slow-burning flame, a fortress built on decades of proving herself in a man’s world. Her first steps were precise, measured, rigid... but Alex wasn’t having it.

”Relax,” he commanded softly, his hand firm at her waist. ”You’re not commanding troops here.”

”I’ve been dancing since I was five,” she murmured as they found their rhythm. ”Cotillion, state dinners, campaign events. I know every step.”

”Good,” Alex said, suddenly dipping her low, forcing her to trust his strength. ”Then you’ll know when I’m breaking all the rules.”

But not this one, she thought, lips tightening. Not this surrender.

His hand at her waist was firm, commanding, pulling her into a dance she no longer led but wanted to follow. When she tried to regain control, he simply smiled and spun her again.

”Stop fighting me,” Alex murmured against her ear. ”For once in your life, let someone else be strong.”

The sensation was alien and intoxicating. Patricia Hamilton, the woman who’d ordered armies, shaped nations... found herself craving the simple act of being guided.

”You’re not what I expected,” she admitted, voice dropping an octave, vulnerability slipping through the cracks.

”I’m exactly what you need,” Alex replied, his confidence absolute. He guided her into a complex turn she’d never learned, his body leading hers with perfect precision.

Her body began to bend and curve with the music, responding not out of duty or protocol, but desire. The armor she wore for decades cracked like fragile glass.

When did I last feel like a woman and not a senator? The question landed like a blow. When did I last let someone else be strong?

”There she is,” Alex said softly, watching the transformation in her eyes. ”I wondered when the real Patricia would show up.”

Tears threatened her lashes as the song ended. She looked up at Alex, wonder softening her gaze.

”How did you...?” she started.

”Your secret’s safe with me,” Alex said with a knowing smile.

_____

Diana practically vibrated forward, nerves coiling tight beneath her petite frame. Her marriage was a hollow routine... polite words, separate bedrooms, passion locked away.

Don’t embarrass yourself, she pleaded inwardly. You’re a judge’s wife. You don’t...

Alex’s arms silenced her doubts, but his voice was what undid her. ”Forget about everyone watching,” he whispered. ”This is just for you.”

Where her husband’s touch was cold obligation, Alex’s was electric resurrection. Her movements trembled at first, hesitant as a bird testing wings.

”I used to love dancing,” she whispered, voice cracked with rediscovery. ”Before marriage. Before responsibility. Before I forgot who I was.”

”Show me,” Alex encouraged, his hands steady and sure. ”Show me who you were.”

Her body molded against his, warm and fluid as if they’d danced a thousand times before. Every rule, every restraint melted away under his patient guidance.

Is this what I’ve been missing? The thought shook her. Is this how it’s supposed to feel?

____

Sarah approached with practiced poise, but the flames of curiosity flickered just beneath the surface of her diplomatic mask.

”My turn to solve this mystery,” she announced, extending her hand to Alex with businesslike efficiency.

Alex took it with an amused smile. ”Good luck with that, Ambassador.”

”I negotiate billion-dollar deals,” she said, voice smooth and controlled as they moved. ”I can usually read anyone within minutes.”

”And?” Alex asked, spinning her effortlessly.

But not you, she thought, unease creeping in as his enhanced charm worked silently, insidiously. What secrets lie behind that perfect smile?

”Still working on it,” she admitted, her legendary control slipping with every step, every touch. She noted it even as her body betrayed her... pressing closer, surrendering to sensations she’d buried beneath years of steel.

”Take your time,” Alex said with knowing confidence. ”I’m not going anywhere.”

This is dangerous, she warned herself. I should stop. I should...

But she didn’t stop.

Instead, she fell deeper into the sensation, diplomatic armor cracking like thin ice on a spring river.

_____

Jessica bounced forward with trademark enthusiasm, but even her bravado faltered under the room’s electric charge.

”Okay, okay,” she laughed, voice shaking slightly. ”Let’s see what all the fuss is about.”

Alex pulled her into his arms with practiced ease. ”Hold on tight,” he warned with a grin.

Holy shit, she thought, breath caught. No wonder they all looked dazed.

Alex’s abilities slammed into her like a tidal wave, cutting through boldness like a knife through silk. Raw need replaced her usual irreverence.

”God,” she gasped as they moved, voice trembling with awe and something more primal. ”What are you doing to us?”

”Just dancing,” Alex replied innocently, though his smile was anything but innocent.

She didn’t pull away. Instead, she surrendered to the hunger, letting the moment consume her.

_____

Victoria watched from the sidelines, emotions twisting... a complex weave of pride and possessiveness. These were her most powerful friends, yet here they were, utterly captivated by her man.

Look at them, she thought, lips curling with fierce satisfaction. Every one of them, like schoolgirls undone by my man.

She reveled in the sight: Elena’s fire reduced to molten need, Patricia’s walls crumbling, Diana shedding years of repression.

They see it now, Victoria realized. They see what I saw all along. They know why I chose him.

As the last dancers finished, breathless and transformed, expectant gazes turned to her.

”Your turn, Victoria,” Elena said, voice rough with awe.

”Come on,” Jessica added, grinning slyly. ”Time for the main event.”

Victoria hesitated. She was always the composed one... the careful strategist. The others might lose themselves in passion, but she held control. It was her identity, her armor.

But look at what control has given them, she thought, eyes flicking to their glowing faces. Look what I could have...

Alex approached her slowly, his eyes never leaving hers. ”Victoria,” he said simply, extending his hand. ”Dance with me.”

In his eyes, she saw more than desire. She saw understanding. He knew what she risked.

She took his hand.

---

The room fell silent the moment they moved together. This wasn’t mere charm or seduction... it was something elemental, magnetic.

”Finally,” Alex murmured against her ear, and Victoria felt herself melt at the possessive satisfaction in his voice.

Victoria transformed instantly. Gone was the measured woman they knew. In her place stood a force of nature... grace flowing like liquid silk, every move a declaration of power.

Her hands slid up his chest, fingers threading into his hair. She claimed him with possessive certainty.

”Mine,” she whispered, voice low and fierce, just loud enough.

”Always,” Alex replied, his own voice rough with desire. He spun her in his arms, head falling back, back pressed against his chest, their bodies swaying as one.

Diana clutched her throat, breath caught. ”Oh my God...”

Victoria’s gaze sharpened, predatory and sure. Alex guided her into a dip so low her leg hooked his hip, trusting him utterly. The arch of her back was a perfect curve of sensual power.

”Show them,” Alex whispered as he brought her back up. ”Show them what’s mine.”

Patricia gasped. ”Victoria...”

But Victoria wasn’t finished, and neither was Alex.

She rose slowly, sliding her body against his with intimacy that bordered on possession. His hands roamed with her... chest, arms, every inch marked.

”Beautiful,” Alex murmured, his approval making her bold.

Sarah began, ”I’ve never...” then stopped, breathless.

Her dance wove a spell of ownership and desire, her movements speaking louder than words. When she pressed back against Alex’s chest, arms circling his neck, he held her there, the moment sacred... almost voyeuristic.

”Let them watch,” Alex said quietly. ”Let them see what they can’t have.”

Elena gripped her glass so tightly her knuckles whitened. ”Jesus Christ, Victoria...”

The final movement was a silent vow. Foreheads touched, eyes locked... a gaze brimming with hunger, claiming, and absolute certainty.

”Now,” Alex commanded softly.

When the music ended, Victoria rose on her toes and kissed Alex... bold, fierce, branding him with a passion none would forget. He kissed her back with equal intensity, his hands tangling in her hair.

The room held its breath.

Diana’s hand trembled at her throat. ”I... I had no idea she could move like that.”

Patricia’s voice was a whisper. ”In our years of friendship, I’ve never seen Victoria... dance like that.”

Sarah’s control cracked. ”That was...”

”Fucking incredible,” Jessica finished, breathless.

Elena’s eyes shone with reverence. ”That wasn’t dancing. That was claiming. That was...”

Victoria finally stepped back, but her hand lingered on Alex’s chest, possessive and sure. Alex’s arm remained around her waist, equally possessive.

A new light burned in her eyes... something beyond politics, beyond power. This was primal certainty.

”What have you done to our friend, Alex?” Elena’s voice brimmed with mischievous wonder.

Alex smiled, his arm tightening around Victoria. ”I showed her who she really is.”

Before more questions came, distant applause drifted up from below.

”The speech,” Sarah murmured, voice shadowed with reluctance.

Victoria smiled... radiant and transformed. ”Shall we go down?” she asked.

Alex offered his arm with practiced gallantry. There was no doubt who would walk beside her.

As they moved toward the elevators, the women exchanged looks of shock, admiration, and a newfound understanding.

Something had shifted in the penthouse salon... a quiet revolution of surrender and strength.

At its heart was Alex... the man who had unlocked parts of them all they never knew existed, and claimed the most powerful woman in the room as his own.
