Chapter 1028: Chapter 1028: Acting Captain, Sikong Jing

The East Dominator Branch has gathered these local forces in Hanluan City to better establish its foothold in the city, making business easier to conduct.

If they lose the support of the Yang family, the East Dominator Branch will inevitably be suppressed by its old rival, Shiyu Commerce.

Watching Yang Zhi and his entourage leave, Duanmu Chun’s mouth twitched uncontrollably, and he said with a bitter smile, ”Sikong Jing, when will you give me a break? You’re always causing me trouble.”

He hadn’t even arrived at the East Dominator Branch before getting into trouble with Ba Lie Venerable, then Xiu Hanzi, and now completely angered Yang Zhi.

Duanmu Chun felt really overwhelmed.

Weng Ting, however, laughed at these words: ”Duanmu, it seems Sikong Jing hasn’t done anything wrong, has he?”

”He’s just strong and formidable, and being inferior to him makes them angry out of shame. Yang Zhi doesn’t seem like a decent person either.”

These words made Duanmu Chun’s expression slightly stiff, and the actions of Sikong Jing flashed through his mind.

In the Xiu Hanzi incident, although he discarded it, Sikong Jing easily defeated Jin Liwu in the Soldier Killing Array aspect.

In the Ba Lie Venerable incident, everyone knew he was innocent.

It was only because Ju Dan wanted to harm him, using her great merits and the authority of Ba Lie Venerable to avenge her daughter.

And today’s incident was something Duanmu Chun witnessed with his own eyes.

Sikong Jing earned the Soul Dominator Order through his real combat prowess. Perhaps part of it was due to his movement technique countering Weng Ting’s Combat Body Power, but it was still genuinely strong.

Yang Li being instantly knocked out already indicated Sikong Jing had the strength of a captain.

Taking a deep breath, Duanmu Chun asked softly, ”Ah Ting, how do you evaluate Sikong Jing?”

Weng Ting blinked and replied, ”In terms of combat power, Sikong Jing is unbelievably strong. If he reaches the peak of the Martial Battle Realm, it’s hard to say if I could win.”

In that instant, Duanmu Chun was utterly shocked, filled with disbelief.

It’s important to know that Weng Ting is a super genius with a fifth-grade War Body, and yet she said that if they were in the same realm, she might not be able to win.

Then, Weng Ting continued with her evaluation: ”I don’t really understand his character, but judging by his gesture of giving away two Soul Dominator Orders, and looking at Yang Yi’s reaction to him, this is someone worth befriending.”

Immediately, Duanmu Chun recalled what Yao Yuzhi had once said, that Sikong Jing had a captivating charm that compelled people to be in awe.

Thinking of this, Duanmu Chun suddenly asked in confusion, ”Gave away two Soul Dominator Orders?”

”Yes, he gave one to Yang Yi and another to Sister Hua Meixi,” Weng Ting nodded gently.

Duanmu Chun was agape, as he had given Weng Ting’s Soul Dominator Order directly to Hua Meixi.

”Duanmu, you won’t take the Soul Dominator Order back just because it was given to Sister Hua, will you?” Weng Ting suddenly asked with a smile.

As they say, giving a Soul Dominator Order outright is not part of the rules. It’s generally acceptable among the same team, but for different teams, he would need the Great Dominator’s consent.

And naturally, Duanmu Chun wouldn’t take it back. Last time, he was even considering giving one to Hua Meixi.

”Indeed, he values affection greatly. However, if he’s a non-combatant, it’s very difficult to elevate his position any further.”

”It seems, he needs to put in more effort in Soldier Killing Arrays.”

With Sikong Jing’s continuous performance, Duanmu Chun found himself paying more and more attention to him.

But one non-combatant Sky Wolf Team was already causing dissatisfaction among many, and elevating Sikong Jing’s position further would incite public outrage.

Yes, from beginning to end, Sikong Jing had done nothing wrong, but as Yang Zhi had threatened, there’s no such thing as fairness for non-combatants. At least in the eyes of many, it’s as if they deserve unfair treatment.

Even if Duanmu Chun was the Great Dominator, he couldn’t change this reality.

However, if Sikong Jing rises through the rank of Soldier Formation Master, then there would be no problem at all.

The headache now is how to appease Yang Zhi, as directly giving Wan Tonghui a Soul Dominator Order is still against the rules.

At this, Weng Ting chuckled lightly and said, ”Well, my words will not go in vain. After all, the East Dominator Branch values strength above all else; if the Yang family wants to leave over something so trivial, then keeping them is of no use.”

”If we yield, wouldn’t Yang Zhi be lording over the East Dominator Branch?”

”Of course, I’m just saying. I’m going to retreat for a few days now to break through to the Spirit Martial Stage.”

Saying this, Weng Ting bid farewell to Duanmu and went into seclusion...

Duanmu Chun rubbed his aching head, momentarily at a loss, realizing he needed to find some Dominators to discuss the matter.

...

While Duanmu Chun was dealing with a pounding headache, Sikong Jing and the others had already returned to Sky Wolf Court.

And Fan Kui, being a big mouth, naturally shared everything that happened in the Soul Dominator Secret Institute with all the members of the Sky Wolf Team immediately.

Instantly, everyone almost threw Sikong Jing up in the air to celebrate, it was simply too thrilling.

”Brother Sikong, I plan to go into seclusion for a few days, and then officially challenge the Soul Dominator Secret Realm.”

Feeling the excitement of the Sky Wolf Team members, Yang Yi suddenly turned to Sikong Jing and said, then added in a deep voice: ”And during these days, Sky Wolf Team’s important affairs will be entrusted to Brother Sikong, is that alright?”

At this statement, the Sky Wolf Team members suddenly fell silent, then all focused intently on Sikong Jing.

The captain’s intention was clear—he wanted Sikong Jing to take on the role of acting captain during his seclusion or when he entered the Soul Dominator Secret Realm. Thinking of this, everyone also glanced at Fan Kui...

By rights, this should be given to Vice Captain Fan; he shouldn’t be dissatisfied, right?

Feeling the gaze of everyone, Fan Kui said openly, ”The captain is right, important matters should be handed over to Brother Sikong. I’m just a rough guy, and now, Brother Sikong’s strength has already surpassed mine.”

Fan Kui’s words caused another round of uproar in the audience, then one by one they turned to Sikong Jing, awaiting his response.

Sikong Jing took a slight breath and cupped his fist toward Yang Yi, saying, ”I accept the responsibility without hesitation.”

He certainly wasn’t too eager to act as some temporary captain, but Fan Kui was indeed a straightforward person, and both the team and Yang Yi placed great hopes in him, so Sikong Jing couldn’t refuse.

When Yang Yi goes into seclusion, someone had to assume the role.

And Sikong Jing wouldn’t put on a false pretense of refusal; neither his personality nor his position in the Sky Wolf Team required it.

Hearing this, Yang Yi smiled, ”Then I’ll have to trouble Brother Sikong. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask Fan Kui and the others.”

After giving a few instructions, Yang Yi then left and went into his closed-door training.

Meanwhile, Sikong Jing exchanged a few words with the Sky Wolf Team members and drank a little wine.

Afterward, he took Gongyang Ying to his courtyard, and once settled, he smiled and said, ”Ah Ying, the new martial skill I want to give you is precisely the one that just countered Weng Ting’s movement technique.”

Hearing this, Gongyang Ying couldn’t help but have her beautiful eyes light up with excitement, looking at Sikong Jing in disbelief.

Wasn’t this supposed to be his exclusive skill?

As if he saw through Gongyang Ying’s thoughts, Sikong Jing smiled and replied, ”It’s not really an exclusive skill. I realized this from the Shadow Moon Rat. By the way... Shadow Moon Rat, you come out too, I have a gift for you.”

In the next moment, a rat’s shadow sprung out.

It stared at Sikong Jing intently and asked, ”Are you giving me something of the Shadow Moon Divine Rat?”
