Cultivation is just so scientific!

Chapter 650: Chapter 371: Guidance_2

However, he dared not extend his “Telepathy” to the four high monks; to him, the spiritual power of these four monks was as blinding as four suns.

This was a manifestation of extremely strong spiritual power; the spiritual power of the four monks far surpassed that of Li Yuanba.

With Li Yuanba’s “Telepathy” ability, trying to shake the minds and spirits of the four monks was nothing but a fool’s dream.

Li Shiming controlled the spiritual force of “Telepathy”, passed through the strange energy barrier, crossed the overlapping spaces of spatial formation, and arrived at a space that overlapped with the one where Li Yuanba was located.

He immediately sensed a spirit, whose spiritual power was like a mountain.

If the spiritual power of the four monks was like the sun, then the sun was actually illusory, but the spiritual force of this spirit he felt was like a tangible mountain, which was even more terrifying than the illusory sun.

Just as Li Shiming was about to retreat, he stopped.

He noticed a trace of chaos in the spiritual power of this spirit. For a cultivator with a spirit force as solid as a mountain, there should be no chaos whatsoever in their spiritual power.

If it had reached substance-like spiritual power, how could it be in chaos?

“Unless…” Li Shiming thought of a possibility, he recalled a rumor.

There was a rumor about Qianye Temple that, apart from the loss of buildings and personnel caused by the last remote rocket attack, the Venerable Huijing had developed a heart demon.

This matter was only circulated among the upper echelons of the six major sects, mainly because Venerable Huijing’s actions at that time were too conspicuous. Qianye Temple couldn’t keep it secret even if they wanted to.

With Li Shiming’s status and his particular attention to Qianye Temple, he too was aware of this matter.

Now it seemed that the cultivator in the same Bodhi Hall as Li Yuanba was very likely the Venerable Huijing who had developed the heart demon.

If Venerable Huijing was in a normal state, Li Shiming wouldn’t dare to provoke him with his beginner level “Telepathy”, even if it meant death.

But under the current circumstances, perhaps Venerable Huijing was Li Yuanba’s chance to break free.

At this point, he had no more concerns; at worst, he would simply lose Li Yuanba’s incarnation, which was already the worst possible outcome if he did nothing.

In order to let the incarnation Li Yuanba survive, he was willing to take the risk.

Li Shiming first left the cave-dwelling; he sent a message to his mentor Elder Su and Elder Ma, explaining that he needed to go out for a while.

Since he hadn’t encountered any good fortune on many of his previous excursions, Elder Su and Elder Ma had gradually grown accustomed to him leaving the sect, and no longer had much opposition.

As soon as he left the sect, he continuously activated the “Sky Concealing Secret Technique” and the “Charming Soul Concealing Secret Technique”, using the invisibility effect of the shadows and employing “Step by Step Lotus” to head in the direction of Qianye Temple.

While hurrying on his way, it didn’t affect his control over the incarnation Li Yuanba as he tried using “Telepathy” to contact Venerable Huijing.

Venerable Huijing’s condition had improved a lot; his heart demon was suppressed to the depths of his spirit, and each time the four monks preached the Buddhist teachings, it weakened the heart demon.

But this heart demon was too stubborn to be completely eradicated.

He wasn’t too anxious; being in Qianye Temple, with the help of the four monks and the targeted environment of the Bodhi Hall, his heart demon would eventually weaken to a point where it could no longer affect him.

Although the four monks had stopped preaching the Buddhist teachings, he didn’t cease his own contemplation of the Buddhist teachings.

His spirit was open, which was to allow better assimilation of the Buddhist teachings during the preaching by the four monks.

After all, being in Qianye Temple, there was no possibility of danger.

Probably he had also never considered that within Qianye Temple, he would encounter a cultivator who had mastered the divine skill of spirit force and was in the same great hall as him.

The probability of such an event was so low, it should be practically impossible.

Qianye Temple was a place of such stature, that even the other five major sects wouldn’t dare to underestimate it.

Apart from the last time a rocket breached the temple gates, there hadn’t been an actual invasion in thousands of years.

Venerable Huijing was utterly unprepared; his mind was like an undefended city, with doors wide open, welcoming visitors.

The problem was, the mind control exerted by Li Shiming was far from a simple visit.

‘Telepathy,’ as a divine skill, was extremely covert in its invasion of the mind.

As the spiritual power approached the mountains, it encountered no resistance and allowed the spiritual power to enter.

At this time, the four Buddhist monks once again began preaching the Buddhist teachings, still targeting Venerable Huijing and Li Yuanba.

Li Shiming didn’t mind the impact of the Buddhist teachings on himself, which he simply ignored.

Venerable Huijing began to alternate between joy and sorrow with the Buddhist teachings, his emotions freely expressed within them, and through their guidance, he was able to dispel the root causes of his inner demons, which then became sourceless waters, continually weakening.

Of course, emotions can never be fully eliminated, but such guided release could keep his negative emotions at their lowest.

Today, as usual, Venerable Huijing was releasing his emotions within the Buddhist teachings, shouting and crying, joyous and sorrowful, without the demeanor of a Venerable.

Neither he nor the four monks noticed a thread of spiritual power mingled within the Buddhist teachings.

As Venerable Huijing was releasing his anger, this spiritual power subtly redirected the anger in another direction.

Even though this spiritual power was much weaker than the Buddhist teachings augmented by the Bodhi Hall of the four monks, being ‘Telepathy’ in nature, it was intrinsically a level above that of the monks’ Buddhist teachings.

Li Shiming wasn’t using spiritual power to confront the Buddhist teachings of the four monks; he used a minimal force to redirect their guidance.

Under the direction of his spiritual power, Venerable Huijing’s rage not only didn’t diminish from venting, but it also grew even more intense.

The inner demon, originally suppressed deep within, found an opportunity to take over Li Shiming’s work, influencing Venerable Huijing’s anger.

In Venerable Huijing’s heart, the four monks became his captors.

He wanted to break free from this cage; he shouldn’t be here, he should be free to follow his heart, to do as he wished.

Initially, Venerable Huijing could still suppress his inner demons, but with the renewed influence of Li Shiming’s controlled spiritual power, it took but slight influence to completely overwhelm Venerable Huijing with his inner demons.

Just before Venerable Huijing lost control, Li Shiming exerted his full power of ‘Telepathy’ to embed a subconscious suggestion into Venerable Huijing’s mind.

He didn’t know how effective this subconscious suggestion would be or whether it could function under the influence of the inner demons, but it was the limit of what he could do.

He only hoped that when Venerable Huijing went mad, he wouldn’t shatter this space and in doing so, harm Li Yuanba’s body.

If he were to be attacked by Venerable Huijing, Li Shiming’s body refinement strength, even at the Great Elder Level, would not be enough.

Since all of this was the work of spiritual power, even Venerable Huike, who had always been watching over Li Yuanba, failed to notice anything unusual.

Venerable Huike believed Li Yuanba was the reincarnation of a Buddhist power, so to a great extent, he treated Li Yuanba with respect, even surveilling him through a formation that could not detect spiritual power.

“Amitabha!” the four monks chanted in unison, a flash of horror crossing their normally unflappable faces.

They then collapsed to the ground, coughing up blood and becoming extremely weak.

Venerable Huike noticed something was wrong, immediately moved to one of the monks, and fed him a Spirit Pill.

He then appeared beside the remaining three monks, one after the other, administering Spirit Pills to each of them.

The four monks had a very high status within Qianye Temple and if they could be saved, Venerable Huike was still going to aid them.

At the same time, Venerable Huike sensed the volcanic fury inside Bodhi Hall; he knew Venerable Huijing had lost control.
