Chapter 42: Demon Spider Staff, Open the Silver Treasure Chest

Cao Xing glanced at the Frost Wolf Winter beside him.

It was also a level 10 creature, meeting the requirement for advancement.

Once it advanced to the Second Order, all his recruited creatures, except for Yilena, would be Second Order!

Hence, he handed the Heart of Power to Assam.

“Assam, go on, let your Winter advance. A powerful knight needs a powerful mount to fully exert his war power.”

Upon hearing this, Assam shakily accepted the crimson crystal from Cao Xing’s hand.

He looked at Cao Xing gratefully and spoke no more.

Instead, he turned and directly approached the Frost Wolf Winter.

“Winter, accept the power bestowed by the Lord!”

“Let us both swear to defend the Lord’s honor to the death!”

With these words, he tossed the Power Crystal forward.

The Frost Wolf Winter seemed to understand, knowing this was something that could make it stronger.

As Assam threw the crystal down, it opened its huge mouth and bit down.

Crunch!

The sound of the crystal shattering echoed, as powerful energy surged within it.

Instantly, Winter’s aura grew at a terrifying speed!

Cao Xing observed as Winter’s already robust limbs grew even thicker.

Not only that, its body size also expanded rapidly!

From the original length of three meters, it surged to nearly four meters.

“Roar!”

A fearsome roar reverberated through the cave.

The mere presence of this ferocious giant wolf exuded an overwhelming pressure!

Cao Xing nodded in satisfaction once more.

Then, it was time for the final reward, the [Demon Spider Staff (Blue)].

This item was the first piece of Blue Equipment that Cao Xing had gotten, and he was quite eager to see its attributes.

[Demon Spider Staff (Blue)]

[Quality: Fine]

[Attack Power: 31~37]

[Attached Effect ①: Spirit +10]

[Attached Effect ②: Basic Magic Amplification (When casting a magic attack, there is a 40% chance to increase this attack’s magic damage by 10%)]

[Attached Effect ③: Command Demon Spider (Summons 5 level 10 First-tier Demon Spiders to assist in battle, lasting for 60 seconds, effect cooldown time 300 seconds)]

…

After reading the equipment description, Cao Xing’s eyes lit up with joy.

“Is this the Blue Equipment? So strong!”

Not only did it increase his spiritual power by 10 points but it also had a Demon Spider summoning effect.

He immediately equipped it, significantly boosting his spiritual power.

Cao Xing nodded in satisfaction.

Then, he turned to Assam and the others and ordered, “Search the cave, see if you can find any treasures.”

Assam and the others began their search after receiving the order.

A few minutes later, Sarah made a discovery in a corner of the cave.

“There’s a treasure chest here.”

Upon hearing this, Cao Xing’s heart leapt with joy, and he walked over.

In a corner of the cave, in an area covered by a spider web, indeed there was a white treasure box.

“Goodness, another Silver Treasure Chest,” Cao Xing rejoiced.

After cutting through the web, a system prompt appeared.

[Discovered an unlocked Silver Treasure Chest. Open it?]

Cao Xing immediately clicked to open it.

Clang!

[Successfully opened the Silver Treasure Chest.]

[Acquired Noble Backpack (Green) *1]

[Acquired Iron Rail Construction Blueprint *1]

[Acquired Medium Shelter Construction Blueprint *1]

[Acquired Large Dry Food *12]

[Acquired Medical Bag *3]

“Oh? Got a backpack? And an iron rail blueprint?”

Cao Xing’s eyes shone with excitement.

“Not bad at all. Now I can make more iron rails, connecting all the mines near the territory.”

Cao Xing nodded in satisfaction, then examined the properties of the backpack and the other shelter blueprint.

[Noble Backpack (Green)]

[Backpack Capacity: 40 slots]

[Attached Effect: Charm +4]

(Note: Charm is a hidden attribute, not displayed on the panel.)

…

[Medium Shelter Construction Blueprint]

[Land Area: 40 square meters]

[Can Accommodate 6 people]

[Additional Effect: Provides a life recovery effect to friendly units resting inside, restoring 0.5 Life Value per second.]

[Construction Requirements: Stone *120, Wood *240, Iron *20, Basic-level Elemental Crystal *5]

…

[Iron Rail Construction Blueprint: Allows for crafting a section of iron rail at the Blacksmith Shop by consuming materials]

[Length: 1 meter]

[Required: Iron *8, Level 1 Blacksmith Shop]

…

A backpack and two blueprints were quite a good haul.

Cao Xing was pleased and equipped the backpack.

Then, he looked at the Silver Treasure Chest on the ground again.

[Would you like to dismantle the opened Silver Treasure Chest *1?]

“Yes.”

[Dismantling successful, acquired Mithril *10]

By this point, almost everything inside the Earth Cave Demon Spider had been looted by Cao Xing.

At this moment, Cao Xing’s gaze shifted to the giant cocoons entwined in spider webs above.

He suddenly thought, “Muxue, do you think there might be treasures inside these cocoons?”

“Hmm?” Liu Muxue looked somewhat puzzled.

Cao Xing pondered for a moment and directly said, “Assam, help me knock down these cocoons.”

Assam followed the order, slashing with a Frost Sword Energy.

Whoosh!

A white cocoon thudded to the ground.

Cao Xing approached the cocoon and then glanced at the Druid beside him, saying, “Andrew, help me peel open the cocoon.”

Andrew hesitated, “Lord, this is desecrating the bodies of the dead…”

“But if it’s your order, I will comply.”

It swung its sharp claws, and with two swipes, the cocoon was peeled open.

Inside, a pale human face was revealed.

“A human?”

Seeing this scene, everyone was quite surprised.

Cao Xing bent down and examined the body, discovering an emblem with petals and a longsword, as well as some coins.

[Acquired Cartel Family Crest *1]

[Acquired Coins *72]

Cao Xing checked the attributes of the crest.

[Cartel Family Crest (Accessory)]

[Quality: Ordinary]

[Equipment Effect: Power +1, Agility +1]

Cao Xing nodded, though the attribute increase was little, it was an accessory that didn’t occupy an equipment slot, which was better than nothing.

Then, Cao Xing knocked down the other cocoons.

Inside, he found many bodies, both Mole Men and humans.

From these bodies, Cao Xing retrieved a total of 17 iron ingots, 452 coins, 6 Basic-level Elemental Crystals, and 11 crests.

The haul was quite decent.

At this moment, Cao Xing looked at the Druid with a guilty expression beside him.

“Andrew, this is not desecrating the dead; it is allowing them to return to the earth.”

“Only by rescuing them can the souls of the deceased be freed.”

“Now, bury their bodies in the land you cherish most.”

Cao Xing’s tone was very solemn, as if it were the truth.

Hearing this, Andrew’s furrowed brow smoothed out instantly.

He placed one hand on his chest and respectfully saluted, “So this is the Lord’s intention; forgive my ignorance, Andrew misunderstood you!”

The system prompt appeared.

[Your actions have moved Andrew, Loyalty has increased, current Loyalty is 88]

Cao Xing nodded, secretly pleased.

These guys really appreciated hearing these diplomatic words.

Then, they spent about ten minutes dealing with these corpses.

Seeing that there was no other place to search in the cave, Cao Xing commanded, “Head back the way we came, to the other passage.”

“Yes, my Lord.”

The four powerful Second Order creatures obeyed Cao Xing’s instruction and began returning the way they came.

Thud, thud, thud!

The advanced Frost Wolf’s steps were heavy and imposing.

Its hefty footsteps echoed throughout the mine.

Soon, they returned to the original fork in the path.

This time, they were headed for the left passage.

As before, the four recruited creatures led the way.

Cao Xing and Liu Muxue followed behind, picking up iron rails and scattered ores from the ground.

[Iron Rail +1]

[Magic Energy Stone +3]
