The City’s Strongest Son-in-law

155: Chapter 155: Showcasing Culinary Skills 155: Chapter 155: Showcasing Culinary Skills The grandfather and granddaughter duo sat in the living room, watching TV together—an idol drama.

Gu Changsheng listened to Gu Qing’er describe the complicated relationships between the characters with a smack of the lips.

“They’ve been in love for so long, and finally, they’re actually biological siblings?”

“The male lead’s lover is actually his father’s illegitimate daughter?”

“And now this person has cancer?”

Gu Changsheng looked speechless, as if saying, what on earth is this idol drama?

Gu Qing’er was thoroughly enjoying herself, but most of her attention was already in the kitchen.

She quietly said to Gu Changsheng, “Grandpa, Su Changfeng is inside the Tang Family, could it be that he really did housework for three years?”

“We’ll find out in a bit whether it’s true or not, but judging by the aroma wafting over, it definitely seems that way.” After speaking, Gu Changsheng took a deep sniff, just from the kitchen’s pleasant scent, he felt that Su Changfeng’s culinary skills were likely no worse than Gu Changsheng’s.

“Grandpa, if I become one with him, then you won’t need to run to a hotel for your birthday in the future.” Gu Qing’er said with a smile.

Gu Changsheng looked at Gu Qing’er with a doting expression.

He understood the meaning behind her words and he indeed appreciated Su Changfeng.

He wouldn’t mind if Su Changfeng divorced and had a fake marriage with Gu Qing’er afterward, but he must ensure Gu Qing’er never gets hurt.

“Qing’er, grandpa will not interfere with how you handle your feelings, but remember, you mustn’t get hurt.” Gu Changsheng said.

“But grandpa, your granddaughter won’t be easily hurt.”

The grandfather and granddaughter continued chatting like this while Su Changfeng busied himself in the kitchen.

Dinner was served right at six, five dishes and one soup.

Just looking at these dishes made one salivate uncontrollably.

Gu Qing’er was especially picky when eating.

Even those chefs from five-star hotels couldn’t satisfy her perfectly, but now, eating the food prepared by Su Changfeng, her face was full of admiration.

Even though she tried to find faults, she couldn’t find a single one.

Gu Changsheng was equally surprised.

Preparing a decent-looking meal was easy, but reaching Su Changfeng’s standard was somewhat challenging.

“Did you really cook for three years at the Tang Family?” Gu Changsheng asked.

“Most of the circulating rumors are true.” Su Changfeng laughed.

“The Tang Family must be blind not to see your talent?” Gu Changsheng shook his head.

If they had cultivated Su Changfeng properly, the Tang Family would surely undergo a qualitative change, but such a talented person like Su Changfeng was just cooking and doing chores at the Tang Family?

Su Changfeng smiled a bit but didn’t say anything.

After dinner, this time Gu Qing’er was in charge of clearing the table and washing the dishes and chopsticks.

Su Changfeng and Gu Changsheng chatted about martial arts-related topics and asked about Su Changfeng’s lineage, but Su Changfeng didn’t say much, as it was related to his true identity.

When Su Changfeng left Gu Qing’er’s home, it was already close to nine o’clock.

Upon returning to the mansion, Tang Qiulu was unexpectedly sitting in the living room.

Just as Su Changfeng was about to say something, Tang Qiulu suddenly stood up and said, “We need to visit grandma tomorrow.”

After saying this, Tang Qiulu returned to the bedroom.

She must have been waiting for Su Changfeng, just to inform him of this.

However, tomorrow isn’t a family day, and the group hasn’t had any special matters recently.

Based on past experiences, it’s likely grandma intends to participate in Gu Changsheng’s grand birthday celebration this year, hence everyone from the Tang Family must come together to discuss it.

The Tang Family currently handles the West District project, equivalent to having a chance to enter the first-class family tier.

If they can establish good relations with the Gu Family, this chance will increase significantly.

The next day, after everyone gathered at the Tang Family Mansion, grandma indeed brought it up, but the Tang Family members didn’t feel hopeful since they hadn’t entered the top tier for years.

Although there have been some changes, it still wasn’t certain that the Gu Family would notice them.

The Gu Family is virtually the highest in Hai City, and their status is unmatched.

Invitations to Gu Changsheng’s birthday party include only top-class families in Hai City.

Although some in the Tang Family felt arrogant, they know their place compared to this giant.

“Now, our Tang Family has achieved some things, maybe it won’t be like before.

Donglin, Qiulu, find time to visit the Gu Family.” First, send gifts.

If the Gu Family accepts them, it means the Tang Family can attend the birthday celebration.

If not, it remains as before, no invitation.

Of course, grandma definitely wouldn’t go herself.

Hence, it’s bound to be embarrassing, and she must uphold the Tang Family’s dignity.

Tang Xiangdong was unwilling upon hearing this, because the security at the mansion were all snobbish, and he didn’t want to be looked down on.

However, since grandma spoke, he didn’t dare refuse directly.

“Grandma, I’ve been quite busy with the group lately.” Tang Xiangdong subtly refused.

“Grandma, let Tang Qiulu and Su Changfeng go.

After all, such a humiliating task won’t affect Su Changfeng much.

It’s something he’s already used to.” Tang Siwen hurriedly spoke, afraid grandma might assign it to her.

Visiting the Gu Family, they would take their sincerity.

The higher the status of the person going within the Tang Family, the more it reflects their sincerity.

Su Changfeng evidently lacked such qualifications, and grandma didn’t want to send him either.

Su Changfeng was notorious in Hai City as a coward; if the Gu Family knew the Tang Family sent him, they definitely wouldn’t invite them.

“Tang Siwen, do you intend for the Tang Family to miss the birthday celebration?” Grandma said coldly.

Upon hearing this, the originally smug Tang Siwen felt as if doused with cold water, quickly lowered her head: “Grandma, I wouldn’t dare.”

“Qiulu, why don’t you go to the Gu Family yourself?

Anyway, it’s been three years of embarrassment, a bit more won’t matter, right?” Tang Xiangdong said.

After many years, the Tang Family had never attended a single birthday party, and Tang Xiangdong had been turned away numerous times.

He indeed didn’t plan to go this time either, knowing it’d be a disgrace, but still had to go despite that.

Why subject himself to discomfort?

“I can go, but I can’t guarantee I’ll accomplish the task.” Tang Qiulu said.
