Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2290: Guidance

Emery spent hours meticulously observing the four Earth warriors as they demonstrated their abilities. Morgana and Shinta stood nearby, watching with keen interest. The atmosphere was tense, with each of them determined to showcase their progress.

Brandt emerged as the most formidable among the group, showcasing his impressive progress by having advanced to the 7th pillar—a notable achievement, reflecting a two-level increase in just two years. His unmatched mastery of the spear made him a dominant force on the battlefield, combining precision and power with every strike.

Close behind was Glita, the former champion of the Earth tournament. She had reached the 6th pillar, her strength further amplified by her wolf transformation. However, despite her formidable abilities, she couldnʼt surpass Brandtʼs superior skill and experience.

The other two, Octavius and Gwen, lagged significantly behind in their progress. Octavius, though clever and skilled in combat, had only managed to form his 4th pillar. His tactical intelligence was apparent, but the gap between him and the stronger members was clear. Gwen faced even greater challenges, having only reached her 2nd pillar, leaving her far behind the others in terms of power and capability.

After Gwenʼs demonstration, Shintaʼs curiosity got the better of her. Leaning toward Morgana, she asked with a puzzled expression,

”I can understand why Octavius included; heʼs about 10 years younger than the others”

”But who is the old lady? Why is she part of this group?”

”...”

Morgana was momentarily speechless when Shinta asked about Gwen. The memories of their complicated history, especially their past rivalry over Emery, flooded her mind, making it difficult to offer a clear explanation. Trying to mask her unease, she responded with a nonchalant expression, saying, ”Ask your father...”

This vague answer only intensified Shintaʼs curiosity. She observed Gwen more closely, noting the unusual bond she seemed to share with Emery.

”Hmm… sus…” she murmured to herself, intrigued by what she saw.

Soon enough, Emery called Gwen forward, instructing her to draw a special sword. Shintaʼs eyes widened in realization as Gwen revealed a gleaming, majestic-looking sword.

”Thatʼs a tier 7 sword, isnʼt it?!” she exclaimed.

The weapon in Gwenʼs hand was Excalibur. The sheer power emanating from the blade was unmistakable, and Shinta quickly understood its significance.

The sword wasnʼt just a formidable weapon but the key to Gwenʼs strength. With Excalibur in her hands, Gwenʼs power surged, pushing her to the very peak of the saint realm, just a step away from breaking into the magus realm.

Seeing this, Shinta suggested,

”Why not just give the sword to Octavius? we will have a much stronger candidate… no, No, wait... even better, give the sword to me, and Iʼll take on two opponents!”

Moments after, Emery decided to call Shinta forward and instructed her to spar with them.

She stepped up and declared with confidence

”Alright… all four of you can attack together,” Brandt, seasoned and proud, was not particularly thrilled about facing someone so young. Glita, on the other hand, completely underestimated her.

”Little niece… I think you can just fight with me first… and then—”

Before Glita could even finish her sentence, Shinta unleashed her power. In a flash, she transformed, and within a split second, she had already dropped the unprepared Glita to the ground, leaving the seasoned warrior stunned. 𝙧𝔞₦ο𝖇ΕꞨ

Octavius, realizing the seriousness of the situation, quickly raised his shield and took a strategic position opposite Brandt. Meanwhile, Gwen stood still, observing with a calculated eye.

Despite being surrounded on two sides, Shinta moved with a fluid grace, easily dodging their combined attacks. Her simple yet precise movement techniques made it impossible for them to land a single hit. Even when Glita rejoined the fray, all three couldnʼt touch her. Shintaʼs agility and mastery over her techniques were evident, leaving the others struggling to keep up.

Octavius, sensing the need for a more coordinated effort, quickly devised a strategy. He and Brandt would engage Shinta in close combat, while Glita would use her ice spells to restrict her movements.

”Good call! But far from enough!” Shinta responded confidently.

In response, she unleashed her formidable vines, which easily shattered Glitaʼs spells, clearing the path for a counterattack.

Despite their combined efforts, it was clear that the three of them were struggling to gain any ground against her. Noticing this, Emery signaled for Gwen to join the fray, and without hesitation, the Britannia queen drew Excalibur and entered the battle.

Gwen employed the Knight Order sword technique—a style simple in its execution but made immensely powerful by the divine blade in her hands. Each swing of Excalibur seemed capable of slicing through the sky and cracking the earth beneath them.

”Wow! This is not fair,” Shinta protested, glancing at her father for support. Emery, however, pretended not to notice, leaving her to fend for herself.

Frustrated, Shinta decided to escalate the battle, channeling her Hex—a powerful and advanced curse spell. Dark energy pulsed outward, and before her opponents could react, they were caught in an unseen trap. It felt as though they had been ensnared by a massive spiderʼs web, their movements suddenly sluggish and heavy.

Unfamiliar with such high-level magus spells, none of the four had the means to counter or break free from the curse.

Within seconds, it became clear that Shinta had the upper hand. She controlled the fight effortlessly, her opponents helpless against her overwhelming power. The battle concluded swiftly, leaving the others stunned by the enormous gap in their abilities.

Emery had no intention of revealing that Shinta was among the top 10 geniuses at the Magus Academy. He deliberately allowed the gap in their abilities to serve as a stark reminder of the formidable opponents they would face in the upcoming duel.

He wanted them to understand that if they lacked the determination to reach such heights, it would be better for them not to participate in the duel at all.

The path to reaching the Magus realm within two years was a nearly impossible feat for most of them, especially for Gwen, who had already spent decades just to reach her current level.

Despite this, Emery believed that even if they couldnʼt achieve a breakthrough in time for the duel, the training would still be invaluable. Emery carefully selected higher-grade spells and techniques tailored to each of the four warriors. He knew that these advanced teachings would push them beyond their current limits.

Additionally, Emery also prepared some of his most potent potions. He knew that distributing such valuable resources could attract unwanted attention within the alliance, potentially leading to scrutiny. However, the dire situation and the imminent threat of a dangerous killer roaming free left him little choice. Emery prioritized the safety of his people above any possible consequences.

With the Khaos Gate at his disposal, Emery had the ability to travel swiftly between the academy and Golden City, but his attention remained fixed on Earth. His vigilance stemmed not only from the immediate dangers but also from a deeper, more calculated concern.

He wasnʼt merely guarding against danger—he was expecting someone.

A few days later, the long-anticipated guest arrived: an elder accompanied by a young woman with flowing light green hair. With a gesture of respect, Emery welcomed them.

”Thank you for coming, Elder Yvere,”

What reason the Grand Magus come to Earth?
