The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 1971: Cain, Amon, and Bael vs Legion (II)

Cain smiled grimly as he perceived the wave of attacks unleashed by the brothers from below. Without hesitation, he flashed down, appearing above Legion in an instant. His fingers extended, glowing with lethal radiance, each sharper and deadlier than any blade.

”Sundering Sovereign Slash!”

His voice echoed across the sky as his hand carved a brilliant arc. Energy surged, and where his strike passed, reality itself split apart. A massive tear manifested along Legion’s grotesque body, a wound that not only shredded flesh but also eroded everything in its path, extending outward in every direction.

”AHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

Once again, Legion howled in agony. This time, the scream was not only from the tearing of its monstrous flesh, but from the sundered psychic energy that formed the very core of its existence. Its wounded soul trembled. Its damaged essence faltered. For the first time since the battle above the Ouroboros Cult began, Legion suffered true internal damage.

Below, Amon and Bael allowed brief smiles to cross their battle-worn faces. Hearing Legion’s scream and seeing the rift Cain had opened filled them with a savage joy and hope. They did not stop. The brothers continued to unleash torrents of fire and darkness, their colossal sword strikes carrying absolute physical might as they battered Legion’s massive body again and again.

The Ouroboros Cult’s defensive mechanisms also gave no respite. For every heartbeat, countless formation pillars blazed, and endless projectiles rained upon Legion. The Cult poured forth its entire strength, determined to annihilate the abomination that invaded its domain.

Legion was a terrifying existence, a being whose sheer power dwarfed comprehension. Yet even it had limits. The clash with Apex had destroyed two-thirds of its colossal existence. Spiritual damage compounded the devastation, leaving its vast form unstable.

A being of such size and power could not endure easily with a damaged soul. Though its energy pool and physical might surpassed the limits of Arch-Deity rank, Legion could no longer properly control or channel that strength. Against Cain, Bael, and Amon—especially while under constant bombardment from the Ouroboros formation—its overwhelming advantage was slipping away.

Size itself had become a curse. A smaller form could have focused its energy, but Legion’s galactic immensity made it difficult to stabilize its fractured essence. That was the very reason Cain’s Resurrección had adopted a compact, humanoid form instead of a giant monstrosity: focus, efficiency, and lethal precision.

Yet even crippled, even fractured in body and soul, Legion was still the embodiment of all that was negative and evil in countless souls. It would not accept defeat. It would not stand idle and serve as a target for its enemies’ slaughter.

”ALL OF YOU, DIE!”

With a roar that shook the Sacred Dimension itself, Legion’s body contorted, and massive draconic deformities erupted from its flesh. Dozens of dragon-like heads lunged outward, each a twisted abomination brimming with corrosive power. Their bites carried force enough to crush Arch-Deity-tier defenses in a single strike.

The trio reacted instantly.

Bael, his massive muscular frame moving with shocking speed, twisted aside to dodge one abomination’s bite. His blade slashed upward in the same motion, cleaving the draconic head apart before it could recover. Without pause, he spun his body, carrying the momentum into another devastating strike that tore a deep wound into Legion’s main body.

Amon unleashed torrents of fire and darkness that blasted apart the draconic deformities. With perfect control, he guided the flames, forcing them into Legion’s wounds where they exploded violently, searing and corrupting from within.

Cain, however, surpassed them both. With a mere wave of his fingers, he conjured countless invisible blades. They flashed through the air, slicing the abominations to fragments before they could even roar. He pressed the assault further, his strikes carving deeper wounds into Legion’s vast body, destabilizing it further and preventing it from properly channeling its cosmic power.

Bit by bit, the trio’s relentless assault pushed Legion closer to collapse.

But victory was far from secure.

Less than a minute after the battle began, Cain’s body trembled violently. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth. Though Resurrección had allowed him to survive the destructive power of the Coffin of Life and Death’s liquid, the transformation placed immense pressure on both his body and soul. His endurance was reaching its limit.

Cain understood the true might of Legion better than anyone—for the abomination had dwelled within his mind. He knew they could not kill it here and now. But they had to cripple it. They had to inflict wounds so severe that its cultivation base would suffer permanent collapse. Otherwise, if this monster reached the Everstreif Empyrean World at full power, it would trigger a cataclysmic event.

He had already faced Azazel. He would not endure a war on two fronts.

”There is only enough power left for one more attack.”

Cain’s eyes glowed with icy determination as the thought passed through his mind. He raised his voice, roaring to his brothers.

”Use everything you have in the next strike!”

Amon and Bael’s gazes sharpened. Flames of willpower surged within them. They channeled the last fragments of their existence into their weapons and powers, ready to unleash their final assault.

”Everything Grows!”

Bael’s body bulged as his physical might soared to a new level. With a roar, he swung his colossal sword, releasing an arc of energy that tore across Legion’s body with unstoppable force.

”Everything Perishes!”

At the same instant, Amon’s chest ignited with a vortex of fire and darkness. The core essence of death itself manifested, only to be hurled into the mangled abomination.

”AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

Legion shrieked in agony, the sound reverberating from the myriad maws scattered across its monstrous form.

But the battle was not over.

”Blast Variant—Great Conqueror Cannon!”

Cain’s voice rang out, steady and commanding. His hands condensed the powers of gluttony, evolution, and entropy into a swirling black hole edged by a blinding white horizon. Normally, this power would be released as a cannon, a destructive path that annihilated all in its wake. But Cain had another idea.

Taking a deep breath, he compressed the black hole further, squeezing its shocking density until it shrank down to the size of a grain of sand.

The innate abilities of a Resurrección were determined by the cultivator’s nature, leaving little room for choice. Yet that did not mean they were fixed. Powers could adapt. They could evolve. Especially if your wisdom and imagination were powerful enough.
