My Youth Began With Him

Still a little boy, Gao Boyuan began to stammer due to his anxiety.

Little Bean got worried, too. At this moment, Pudding walked to Little Bean’s side.

“Sis, look. What can we do? Auntie Lingling and Boyuan are in trouble in a hotel. Let’s call Daddy to help them.”

Little Bean’s hand holding her cellphone shook in fear.

“We can’t get there in time. Give me your cell phone.”

Pudding grabbed the cellphone from Little Bean’s hand and said to Gao Boyuan, “Boyuan, calm down and listen to me. Find a box of matches which are usually in a drawer. Light some paper in the room… Don’t hurt yourself. Hotel rooms all have smoke detectors and the smoke will set off the fire alarm.”

“Okay, okay. I’m on it.”

Gao Boyuan calmed down and ran to the drawer. Taking out the box of matches and some paper, he lit them with trembling fingers.

He did it with a blank mind and followed the instructions mechanically, but his actions achieved the desired effects…

One minute later, a fire alarm screamed all over the whole hotel.

By now, Zhu Lingling had been dragged to the entrance of the staircase; in a moment, she’d be dragged into that gloomy and narrow space.

Hearing the loud alarm, the guy looked scared. He released Zhu Lingling abruptly and fled through the stairs.

A line of purple bruises appeared on her neck. Coughing violently, she climbed back to the carpeted floor of the corridor.

At this moment, Gao Boyuan opened the door and dashed out…

“Help… Someone help my mom…”

The staff of the hotel arrived and called the police.

Gao Ran was the first police officer arriving to the hotel.

Receiving the location from his friend, he drove to the hotel.

The moment he arrived, he heard a fire alarm sound in the hotel and bedlam broke out.

Of course, the suspect had fled in the confusion.

Gao Ran carried Zhu Lingling into his arms. She pressed her face on his chest and wept; she could speak a word.

It was the first time that she encountered such a horrible thing and she was scared witless.

“I’m sorry, Hon. I’m late and you got scared.”

Gao Ran blamed himself and kissed her on the forehead.

Then he carried her to his car and drove to the hospital.

Qin Chu and Huo Mian drove directly to the hospital and saw Zhu Lingling in a ward.

“I’m sorry to trouble you guys so late in the night.” Zhu Lingling’s voice was hoarse.

“Don’t mention it. You gave us such a fright.”

Huo Mian reached out and caught Zhu Lingling’s hand tightly.

“Your two little princesses are smart and directed Boyuan to set off the fire alarm, otherwise I’d be a corpse by now.”

“Pooh! Don’t be a doomsayer. As the saying goes, those who survive a catastrophe are bound to have good fortune later on. You’ll be fine.”

Huo Mian soothed her.

Pudding and Little Bean came with their parents. They saw Gao Boyuan sitting on the sofa in the ward, looking as if he was still dazed by the fright.

Little Bean ran over and held Gao Boyuan.

“Boyuan, it’s great to see you’re fine. You did a great job.”

Gao Boyuan looked up at Little Bean and felt better.

“Little Bean… I’m afraid…” Remembering what had happened, his eyes teared up.

“Don’t cry. I brought donuts for you…” Before Gao Boyuan’s tears fell, Little Bean stuffed a donut into his mouth.

Not able to stand this sight, Pudding looked away.

“Auntie Lingling, did you see the bad guy’s face?” Pudding asked Zhu Lingling.
