My Youth Began With Him

“Did I hear it right? You said you bought these things for that homewrecker’s parents?”

Zhu Lingling was mad. Huo Mian had paid about 100,000 yuan from her credit card for these top-level food supplements. Why should they give them to the homewrecker’s parents?

“Calm down. Just watch how I handle it.”

Huo Mian smiled but didn’t explain.

Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a rice noodle restaurant; it was small and looked a bit time-worn.

But there were many customers in there since it was almost lunch time.

Zhu Lingling got out of the car with a dark expression, wondering what kind of parents would raise such a homewrecker who would try to seduce another woman’s husband.

Huo Mian’s bodyguards took the gifts from the car and walked in with them.

“Girls, do you want rice noodles?”

An aproned woman in her fifties welcomed them warmly.

“Madam, is this Chen Yuning’s home?”

“Yeah. Do you know our Yuning?”

Huo Mian exchanged a look with Zhu Lingling and said with a smile, “Hello, this is Mrs. Gao, wife of Chief Gao of the municipal public security bureau. We’re here to visit the family of our employee.”

“Whoa. You’re Mrs. Gao. Come on in, please,” the old lady immediately asked Huo Mian and Zhu Lingling to enter the restaurant.

“Madam, don’t be nervous. We heard that you have a restaurant selling delicious rice noodles, so we decided to come and see you… We bought some gifts for you and your husband.”

Huo Mian signaled her bodyguards to place the gifts on the table.

“No, they are too expensive. We can’t take them. Besides, you’re from the chief’s family, and it’s we who should bring you gifts, not the other way around.”

The old lady knew the workings of the world.

Zhu Lingling had a cold expression on her face the whole time and let Huo Mian take control of the conversation.

“It’s fine. Don’t worry; Yuning is doing well in the bureau and everyone likes her. These are benefits we give to our employees.”

Hearing Huo Mian’s words, the old lady took the gifts happily.

“Have you had lunch? Do you want to try our rice noodles?”

“Yes, we do. Thank you, Madam,” Huo Mian answered with a smile.

The old lady went into the kitchen to prepare rice noodles and talked happily with her husband.

Zhu Lingling looked incredulous.

“Mian, I’d rather toss the money into water than giving it to these people. Have you turned moronic after you got pregnant?”

“Calm down. This is part of our strategy.”

Huo Mian picked up the cup of tea and sipped leisurely.

Soon, the old lady came over with steaming rice noodles.

“I don’t know what flavor you like, but seeing this girl’s pregnant, I guess she can’t eat spicy food, so I made the noodles with mushroom soup.”

“I like mushroom soup. Thank you, Madam.”

Huo Mian thanked her with a smile and said, “If you are not busy, can you sit down and talk with us?”

“Of course.”

The old lady was a bit meek in front of Mrs. Chief Gao.

“Madam, Yuning is a good girl. How come she chose to study in the Public Security University? It’s a dangerous career for a girl…” Huo Mian asked.

This topic got the old lady talking with gusto. “You’re right. Her dad and I didn’t approve of her choice, but she was stubborn… Fortunately, she does office work and doesn’t need to do field missions. We can finally relax.”

“Does Yuning have a boyfriend?” Huo Mian asked with faked casualness as she ate the rice noodles

“No. The girl is busy with her work. Many friends and relatives try to introduce guys to her, but she just wouldn’t meet them. Her dad and I are really worried.”

“It’s fine. She’s probably waiting for her other half.”

“I don’t think so. I think she has set her sights on someone…” Zhu Lingling cut in suddenly.

Hearing her words, Chen Yuning’s mother looked surprised.
