My Youth Began With Him

“These things take time. You have to know that the surgery was very successful. He’s already rid of all those damaging medications,” Jiang Xiaowei comforted her.

Huo Mian didn’t say anything; she simply cried.

After a while, she finally calmed down…

“Wei, I’m hungry.” Huo Mian looked up.

“Wow, finally! I thought you became an immortal and no longer need food!” Jiang Xiaowei joked.

“Professor Jiang, don’t kid around. Hurry and find me some food,” Huo Mian wiped away her tears and joked.

“Alright, alright, Honey, what do you want to eat?”

“Your little honey wants to eat shrimp dumplings.”

“Oh? A Cantonese dish? Difficult to please, are we? Fine, fine, I’ll ask our cook to make it. Be patient.”

After that, Jiang Xiaowei immediately told the chef to make lunch.

Afraid that Huo Mian would be too hungry, she also cut up some fruits and grabbed a pudding cup from the fridge.

“This is a little cold. Wait a bit.”

“For some reason, ever since I gave birth to the twins, I’d think of Pudding every time I eat pudding. I haven’t eaten pudding for a very long time.”

“Give it to me if you don’t want it.” Jiang Xiaowei was just about to take away the pudding.

“No, I can eat one behind Pudding’s back.” Huo Mian held onto the pudding cup tightly, hiding it away like a little child.

Both women were intelligent enough to drop the previous subject after letting out their emotions, about Qin Chu and obsessive disorders.

After their meal, Huo Mian got into her car to leave.

Before she left, Jiang Xiaowei hugged her and whispered into her ear, “This is my specialty. Remember that you can always talk to me when you need to. Don’t suffer by yourself.”

“I know.” Huo Mian nodded. After she said her goodbyes to Jiang Xiaowei, she left the Wei Mansion.

“Young Madam, are we heading home?”

“No, we’re going to GK,” Huo Mian ordered.

“Alright.”

– Qin Chu’s office, GK, half an hour later –

After the meeting, Qin Chu walked back to his office with a heavy expression.

An employee followed closely behind, his face beyond anxious.

“President Qin, I’ve planned this project for a very long time. Could you please give me another chance?”

“You’ve missed your chance.” Qin Chu’s tone was cold as could be.

“I didn’t think that it would turn out like this either. This is the first time that our partners stood us up like this. Maybe something happened over there. Our department worked overtime for three months just to come up with this plan, President Qin…”

“I don’t want to hear any more. This ends here. I don’t care if they’re the problem or you’re the problem. To put it simply, I didn’t see good results. I’ve given you the chance. Let’s leave it at that.”

With that, Qin Chu shut the glass door to his office, barring the man outside.

The man was beyond dejected, only leaving after a while of pacing in front of the door.

The mood in his office was depressing.

He loosened his tie and plopped down on his chair, massaging his temples with his index and middle fingers.

Actually, having a lot to do at work was normal. It was his recent lack of sleep that made him weak.

Before, it was entire nights after entire nights of insomnia. Now, with Huo Mian back, he could sometimes fall asleep for an hour. It was already a big improvement.

Any person would suffer from insomnia; it was very harmful to the brain and the heart.

He couldn’t think straight and didn’t feel like himself.

Qin Chu shut his eyes and brainstormed for the company’s new project. Just then, a pair of gentle hands reached his shoulders, massaging him.
