My Youth Began With Him

“The kids are in the room. The door’s locked and he has the keys.”

“Go find the keys. I’m taking the kids.”

“Alright, wait here, Cousin.”

Thanks to his connections at the village, Zhang Manlin’s younger cousin had already conspired and planned the whole thing with the owner of the farmhouse, telling them to put sleeping pills into He Yongjun and Shen Jiani’s dinner.

The twins ate the same food as He Yongjun, so Zhang Manlin was certain that Pudding and Little Bean were also out.

Zhang Manlin’s younger cousin, as per Zhang Manlin’s order, took away the keys from He Yongjun’s shirt pocket and brought out the twins.

What Zhang Manlin didn’t realize, however, was that Pudding had been suspicious of the food all along. The girls didn’t eat dinner even if they were very hungry.

They hid their dinner and pretended to have finished the food. In reality, they didn’t touch the food at all.

They were completely awake when they were being taken into the car.

“Cousin, the kids are in the car. Where are you going now?”

“That’s none of your business. Here, take this.” Zhang Manlin took out 20,000 Yuan and gave it to her younger cousin.

It was definitely a sizeable amount for someone from the village.

“Cousin, I heard that you got rich in the city, but I wasn’t expecting you to be this loaded…”

“Shut up, take the money, and leave. Don’t stay here and don’t mention this to anyone. Otherwise, we’ll both die. Got it?”

“Is it this serious? Who are the two little kids?” Zhang Manlin’s younger cousin was more than curious.

“That’s not for you to know. Why do you have so many questions?” Zhang Manlin felt annoyed.

“Oh, right, got it. Cousin, you see, the owner of this place still needs to be paid off… maybe you should…” He put out his hands again.

Nothing could limit a man’s greed…

Zhang Manlin glared at him in disgust. However, in order to finish her mission quickly, she took out another 10,000 Yuan and handed the stack to him.

“Here’s 10,000 for them. Also, remember what I said. Leave immediately, as far away as possible, and don’t come back for a long while.”

“Got it, Cousin, you should go.”

…

Zhang Manlin nodded. She then got into her car and drove off with the twins…

For the sake of not getting chased down by He Yongjun, Zhang Manlin avoided the route she took from the city. Instead, she kept going forward, on the difficult mountain path.

According to her calculations, once she was six or seven hours out and the sky was bright, she would be hundreds of miles away.

Then, even if the kidnappers did wake up, she would have a huge lead on them, and even if they could catch up to her, they wouldn’t know which road she took.

Having grown up there, Zhang Manlin was all too familiar with the road…

– Early morning –

He Yongjun woke up and immediately felt that something was off. He nudged Shen Jiani. “Wake up!”

“Big Brother Jun, what’s wrong?”

“It’s already 7:30.”

“What? But I set the alarm to 6:30…” Shen Jiani took out her phone, still groggy.

Still undressed, He Yongjun looked at the lock on the tiny room.

“Shit… the kids are gone.”

“What?” Shen Jiani was also stunned.

The duo rushed over to the room and opened its doors; they were greeted by an empty room…

“How’s this possible?” Shen Jiani had no idea what had happened.

“Something’s up with this farmhouse.” Livid, He Yongjun rushed out with his gun.

The entire place, however, was empty. The owner, the workers, and everyone else was all gone.

“Looks like we’ve been drugged. I can’t believe I didn’t expect that…” He Yongjun said with a heavy expression.

“Big Brother Jun, what do we do now?” Shen Jiani panicked, shaking from head to toe.

The kids were gone, and they knew exactly what was coming for them.
