My Youth Began With Him

“You know my daddy?” Luna asked earnestly as she blinked her deep blue eyes.

“No, but I’ve heard of him… After all, he’s famous.”

“Oh…” Luna nodded. She looked like something was on her mind.

“Is she your girlfriend? She’s very cute, just like a Chinese doll. If she wore a Cheongsam, she’d look prettier,” Luna said as she looked at Huo Mian.

“No, she’s my wife.”

“Oh! You guys are married already?” Luna was shocked.

“Yes and we even have two three-year-olds,” Qin Chu said proudly.

“Wow… That sure sounds nice. Rick, we should get married soon so I can have a lot of babies for you,” Luna said. Then she tried to hold onto Rick’s arm, trying to extend the intimacy.

Rick stepped away, leaving the girl disappointed and embarrassed.

“Luna, go home. Your father’s going to be worried about you.”

“No. I’m safe here. I’m not done having fun here… I can eat and play here…”

“I don’t have time to play with you. There’s a lot of business to deal with.”

“I’m still staying so I can nourish our relationship so we can get married soon.”

“I didn’t say I wanted to marry you,” Rick emphasized.

“But you told my dad that you’d think about it.”

“I said that just so he would change the subject… I’m just being polite, you know?” Rick said.

“I don’t care. To me, it’s real…”

Rick: “…”

“I haven’t had breakfast yet. I’m hungry.” Luna pouted.

“You’re just in time. We have food here; let’s eat together,” Huo Mian said awkwardly.

“You can eat alone. We just finished.”

Then, Rick turned around and walked away.

Qin Chu and Huo Mian followed Rick while Luna actually sat down to enjoy the breakfast.

When they walked out the door, Huo Mian pulled Qin Chu’s sleeve and asked quietly, “Honey, who is she? What does her father do? Why would Rick marry her?”

“She’s the oldest daughter of the Frank family. Her father, Modor Frank, is the head of Mexico’s black market. He’s in charge of local sex traffickers, drug dealers, and the black market… He even trades slaves… All in all, he’s one of the most powerful men you’d ever meet…”

“No wonder. Like Rick’s family, the Franks operate underground as well.”

“Yeah, I heard Rick mention briefly that they had business with the Frank family and their partnership’s gone pretty well over the last three years… It seems like Modor wants his daughter to marry Rick to deepen their families’ relationship.”

“What about Rick?” Huo Mian seemed concerned.

“I don’t know yet. I haven’t asked.”

“If Rick got married but it wasn’t out of love, Xixi would be very sad when she finds out.”

“So what… Everyone has a different path to take. Honey… we have to look at it from Rick’s perspective, not ours. We haven’t walked his life so we have no right to decide his future for him,” Qin Chu said as he put his hands on Huo Mian’s shoulders and lightly embraced her.

“I know.” Huo Mian nodded.

“Want to play golf?” Rick held up three golf clubs and looked at them.

– In a gorgeous mansion in Los Angeles –

Ever since Qin Ning’s dad met the twins, he had been refusing to go to work.

Even though he was the chairman of the board, he spent all his time playing with the twins.

They played Chinese chess and international chess, and he enjoyed every bit of it.

“Chairman Qin, you have a call.” His assistant walked over with the phone.

“Who is it?” Qin Chu’s uncle seemed a bit discontent.
