My Youth Began With Him

“Uh… I know the warden. I got in with a phone call. Easy peasy.”

“Don’t lie to me. I’m a convicted felon of a huge homicide case. Back when Qin Chu was arrested, I couldn’t see him, no matter how hard I tried. You, coming in here alone, without the glass separating us… I’m pretty sure you spent a lot of effort to get to me.”

“Not really… it was pretty easy.” Su Yu lowered his head, unable to look Huo Mian in the eyes.

“Su Yu…”

“Hm?”

“Go home… and get some rest. Stop worrying about me. Don’t get involved in this mess. It’s my choice… I don’t want to drag you down with me.”

“Bullsh*t! How am I supposed to watch you die? I came here to tell you to not worry. Don’t be anxious. Within half a month, I’ll get you out of here for sure.”

Huo Mian smiled a sad smile. “But I’m a murderer.”

Su Yu lifted his head and gazed deeply into Huo Mian’s eyes. “I know you’re not.”

“You only said those things to save Qin Chu. I don’t know how you got the details of the murder, but you really shocked all of us… I don’t think Qin Chu is happy either. If he’s saved but you died, he would never live on. So, your plan sucks. Genius, you really did a stupid thing this time.”

“Listen to me, Su Yu, nothing will happen to me. Huo Siqian’s behind all of this. He knows everything that happened and designed every stage of this case. I swear on my life that he has many eyes in prison and he’d never let me die.”

“But he’s a psycho. Even if he doesn’t kill you, he would still never let you be with Qin Chu. You can’t gamble with your life on a psychopath.” Su Yu almost jumped out of his chair.

Huo Mian bit down on her lips, lowering her head slowly…

“I don’t have another choice… maybe this isn’t the worst ending…”

“No… you have other options. You still have me. I’ll get you out, I promise. Once you’re out, you can do whatever you want. Whether you leave the country with Qin Chu, or stay here and change your identity, it’s all up to you. I will never let you die. I will definitely get you out of this stupid place,” Su Yu promised.

“Su Yu…” Huo Mian seemed like she wanted to say more, but she was cut off by a voice outside the door.

“Young Master Su, time’s almost up. Please hurry.”

Su Yu nodded and stood up a little…

“Su Yu, could you please tell Qin Chu something for me?”

“What?”

“Tell him to leave this place first. He has to leave. Once I get out, I’ll go find him.”

“Of course, I’ll tell him… but he’s the one with the legs.”

“He has to leave. Otherwise, Huo Siqian might find another way to harm him…” Huo Mian insisted.

“But he would never leave you behind.”

“Then tell him that I’ll kill myself if he doesn’t leave.” Huo Mian was resolute.

“Huo Mian…”

“Su Yu, sorry but I have to do this. Tell Qin Chu that this isn’t a joke.”

After five seconds of silence, Su Yu nodded. “Alright, I’ll tell him.”

With that, Su Yu turned and left…

Although it was only 10 minutes, Su Yu was more than satisfied.

Seeing Huo Mian safe and sound made his heart calm down…

The next step was getting Huo Mian out.

As he walked out of prison, Su Yu took out a slip from his shirt and handed it to the man who guided him to Huo Mian.

“Thank you. Take good care of her for me. Buy yourself some tea with this.”

Before the man could refuse, Su Yu left through the back door.
