My Youth Began With Him

“Mom… as long as you accept Huo Mian, we will all be at peace,” Qin Chu said slowly…

Mrs. Qin was furious. “You want me to accept the daughter of a mistress? Impossible! She’s the scum of this earth, she doesn’t have the right to be a part of our family! You really don’t have good taste in women.”

Mrs. Qin was unwilling to compromise, not even a tiny bit…

“If that’s the case, then I have nothing left to say. Get some rest.”

Then, Qin Chu turned around to leave…

He was sick of talking to his thick-headed mother…

“Stop! I’m not done yet!”

Mrs. Qin yelled from within the room… but Qin Chu’s footsteps never once stopped.

Song Yishi, on the other hand, turned around to follow him out…

“Qin Chu.”

“What is it?” Qin Chu turned around, as indifferent as he always was.

Aside from Huo Mian, that was how he treated everyone else he knew…

“Mrs. Qin injured her ankle and is in a bad mood, that’s why she was so rude in her choice of words. Don’t be like her, you know how proud and stubborn she is.”

“I know.”

“Don’t worry about things here, I’ll take good care of Mrs. Qin. You have a lot of work at the office to deal with.”

“Thank you.”

As he thanked her, the expression on his face was indifferent and emotionless…

She felt a sense of distance from him…

Song Yishi smiled elegantly and said goodbye to him. Then, she watched as he went downstairs.

Upon seeing that his mother was fine, Qin Chu went to Sky Blessing Court after he left the hospital.

When he passed by a fireworks store, he bought a bunch of fireworks and put them in the trunk of his car.

– Sky Blessing Court –

It was already 8 PM when they cleaned and put everything away.

Huo Mian was starving; she lied on the couch in exhaustion. “Mom, I’m really hungry.”

“Mom… so am I.” Zhixin lied down on the couch as well, imitating his sister.

“Let me go and make some dinner, wait here,” Yang Meirong said as she walked towards the kitchen.

“It’s okay, cooking takes to long, let’s order delivery…” Huo Mian said as she whipped out her phone and opened the delivery app.

Then, she scrolled through the restaurants…

“Zhixin, what do you want to eat?”

“I’m okay with anything, as long as it’s filling.” Zhixin was starving.

“Then, I’ll just order some dishes from a nearby restaurant.”

Huo Mian ordered 8 dishes and a soup…

The three of them then began organizing cutlery and utensils…

Qin Chu arrived at the same time the delivery did…

“Honey, perfect timing, it’s dinner time!”

Huo Mian coyishly held Qin Chu’s hand…

“Zhixin, take out the fireworks from the car trunk.”

“Fireworks? It’s not Chinese New Year, why would we light fireworks?” Huo Mian was confused.

“Sis… don’t you know this? You’re so lame. People light up fireworks when they move into a new place. It’s not just a small celebration, it’s so all the bad luck will be cleared away. This is a custom in our city…”

“Okay… you win, Jing Zhixin.” Huo Mian had no idea that this was a thing, but both Qin Chu and Zhixin did.

Zhixin took out the fireworks and placed them in the yard…

Once Qin Chu lit them up, the four of them walked up to the door…

They watched as colorful fireworks lit up the night sky; they were beautiful.

Huo Mian leaned on Qin Chu’s shoulder. “Honey, will the residential management yell at us for lighting up fireworks in such a flashy matter?”

“It’s a property under GK, who are they going to yell at?” Qin Chu chuckled.

“How capricious of us… Family businesses are the best.” Huo Mian smiled.

Then, the four of them sat down around the table and began eating…

“It’s too late today, but this weekend, I want to invite Lingling and Gao Ran over for a housewarming,” Huo Mian said as she ate…

“Sounds good, everyone should be free over the weekend.” Qin Chu nodded.

While they ate, Yang Meirong suddenly brought something up, “Qin Chu… your mom came to our old house today.”

“Mom… why are you bringing this up?” Jing Zhixin felt bad, thinking that his mother was being a tattle-tail.
