My Youth Began With Him

“That’s right, once you pass the standard exam, you will get a medical license. That way, others won’t question you when you’re seeing patients or saving lives in the future… I know that you’re very low-key and don’t want to cause trouble, but I hope that you can carefully consider this. South Side is in need of doctors, and we all know that you have great potential. Young people need to have dreams, and I believe that you’ll become an exceptional doctor, given your abilities and talent.”

After Director Wu spoke, the other doctors all followed suit…

Director Li of the Neurology Department said, “Huo Mian, we all support you, so I hope that you’ll respect yourself as well.”

“Director Li… I don’t think I can…” Huo Mian’s eyes flashed with tears.

She never thought that one day, all these people would work hard to advance her medical career…

What did she, Huo Mian, do to deserve the joint support of all these doctors and the director… They sure were confident in her.

“Little Sister Mian, isn’t being a doctor the dream you’ve had since you were little? Now you’re about to achieve it… God has given you a gift in its original packaging, just a few years late.” Huo Siqian looked at her and smiled.

When Director Wu spoke to him about this, he immediately agreed, and even took time off to be here…

“So what should I do now?” Huo Mian was a bit emotional.

“You should choose which department you want to join… because the exams are divided by specialty. Once you’ve chosen one, you won’t be able to change it. You can choose whichever one you want… Of course, we’ve discussed this, and thought that you would best fit in gynecology, neurology, neurosurgery, or ophthalmology.”

Huo Mian was so moved that she couldn’t speak…

Director Wu had done his research well…

Gynecology was the department she interned at, and neurosurgery was the program that she once learned on her own at school by pulling all-nighters.

Neurology was her personal hobby that she studied on her own time, but Department Director Li liked her quite a lot.

She even entrusted Ni Yang’s case to her…

Even though she didn’t have much experience in ophthalmology, she used to write Ning Zhiyuan’s papers for him.

So, she understood bits and pieces of this specialty…

“Huo Mian, I hope that you can choose neurology… I need an exceptional helper like you,” Department Director Li couldn’t hold it in anymore.

“Department Director Li is already fighting over for you, but don’t make your decision yet… Huo Mian, come to gynecology… Every day, there are tons of pregnant patients in need of C-sections… After you come over, we’ll mainly focus on natural birth. We can collaborate together and look into water births. What do you think?” The director of gynecology smiled.

Before Huo Mian could say anything…

The Ophthalmology Department’s director began convincing her to join them…

“Huo Mian, I heard that you used to write Ning Zhiyuan’s papers. You’re too talented… Ophthalmology is very simple, all we do is eye research. We could give countless patients the opportunity to see the world again… Ning Zhiyuan has already left the hospital, so you’re welcome to report to our department any time,” the director of ophthalmology offered.

“Shhhh! Huo Mian is the head nurse of the Orthopaedics Department, so she knows a lot about our department as well. We need to keep this ace in our department.”

“No, no, the entire country pays great attention to neurosurgery, so if you want to be an exceptional doctor, you have to choose our department.”

The chief physicians started arguing…

Huo Mian’s brain was about to be jumbled into a pile of mush…

“Huo Mian, what do you think?” Director Wu looked at her and asked.

“Director Wu, my mind is in a big mess…”

“Haha, don’t feel hurried. Go back and think about it. After you’ve decided, just fill out a form and give it to me, and I’ll arrange for you to take the exam.”

“Director Wu, I…”

“Don’t say that you won’t be able to do it. We trust that you won’t let us down. You can do it, Huo Mian.”

“Once you pass the test, I’ll throw a celebration for you,” Huo Siqian interrupted as he bit his pen.

Huo Mian was still in a daze as she walked out of the conference room…

Everything that just happened felt like a dream…

“Am I really going to become a doctor?” Huo Mian mumbled to herself.

She couldn’t contain her joy, so she picked up her phone and send a message to Qin Chu.

“Honey, I have good news to announce.”

“Are you pregnant?” Qin Chu immediately replied.
