S.P.E.C.T.O.R – [A Sci-fi space adventure with fantasy elements]

“What the fuck are those idiots doing?” The man in the dark room said angrily as he watched the lead ship of the group he had hired become disabled and begin floating in space.

“What happened to all their confidence that they could get the job done?

Not only have they failed, but the lead ship is in a position to be boarded. If I didn’t accept our communications, I would be worried.

As it stands, I now need to think up a new plan to get rid of Diva Lorelie as well as come up with an excuse for Drotas.”

💫💫💫

“Well, viewers, would you look at that? They actually managed to disable the enemy’s lead ship. I wonder what Diva Lorelie’s boyfriend has planned for them and why he didn’t just destroy it.” Malgath said.

“I think it’s pretty obvious that Diva Lorelie’s boyfriend wants to board the ship to try and find out who is targeting his girlfriend,” Kasumi said with a flirtatious smile.

“Damn straight he does, my boyfriend is very protective of me after all,” Lorelie said proudly.

“I’m going to attack the two medium-class now, if that’s ok? I’m getting fed up with them attacking us without any punishment.” Stacey said.

While they were working on disabling the enemy’s lead ship, the two medium-class ships had been continuously attacking Spector with little effect since even their combined weapons were not strong enough to drain her shields.

“Go for it,” Adam said as the micro-fighters split and began attacking the large-class ship from different directions with their laser repeaters.

Spector turned in the direction of one of the medium-class ships as Stacey opened fire on it with the three triple laser repeaters, which impacted its shields and started to drain them quickly.

“Spector, arm Ratler missiles,” Stacey ordered as the medium-class ship’s shields began to collapse.

“Ratler missiles armed,” Spector responded.

“Firing,” Stacey said as she pressed the button to launch the rattler missiles twice.

The viewers and chat watched as two missiles were deployed from the missile rack and shot off towards the medium-class ship whose shields had just collapsed, while Stacey had the triple lasser repeaters switch target to the other medium-class ship before opening fire.

As they watched, they saw the rattler missiles’ front end open like tempest missiles had before, eighteen smaller missiles shot out from each, making a total of thirty-six missiles that shot towards the medium-class ship with no shields.

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Oh man, that ship is fucked. These aren’t EMP missiles but the real thing.]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): That Stacey seems to have a thing for scatter missiles, doesn’t she?]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Maybe she has a thing for taking it from more than one source. Kekeke.]

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Better watch what you say about her, bro, unless you want to get banned.]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): …]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Scatter missiles are more effective against ships than single missiles. While each individual scatter missile does not pack the same punch as a single like the seeker they used back on Trillion, scatter missiles are far more likely to hit since there are more targets a ship’s defences have to deal with.]

The medium-class ships’ defensive ballistic weapons opened fire at the incoming rattler missiles; however, it was unable to take them all out in time, and as such, several rattler missiles impacted the ship, causing massive damage and setting off a series of explosions that eventually engulfed the entire ship.

“Hehe, and then there were two,” Kasumi said with a giggle as she watched the medium-class ship exploding.

“You seem to be enjoying yourself, Kasumi,” Malgath asked as he shot her a quick look before returning his focus to the stream.

“Why wouldn’t I be, as you said yourself, we never get to watch space combat like this,” Kasumi replied.

“What about the UMB Cup?” Tephe asked with interest.

“The UMB Cup is fun to watch; however, it is limited to mechs only, and it doesn’t have that raw feeling since there are safety precautions in place to prevent the death of the pilots,” Kasumi replied.

“I think you will find it interesting this time around, or at least the charity match,” Rowena said with her signature smirk.

“Oh, why? I know that Diva Lorelie will be performing at the opening ceremony, as Director Opalbeard of the UMB has already announced this.” Kasumi asked.

“Part of the agreement for me to perform at the opening ceremony was that they would allow my boyfriend to compete in the charity match,” Lorelie explained with a bright smile.

“Wait, your boyfriend has a mech?” Malgath asked in surprise.

“He does, and it’s a very special and famous one,” Tephe replied happily.

“Famous? How is it famous?” Malgath asked curiously before adding, “As far as I’m aware, he has only been in the known universe a short time and has never used a mech.”

“It’s a secret,” Tephe replied mischievously.

[Animefangirl (Earth): OMFG, he actually has a mech? Show me, show me, this is gonna be so Anime.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Oh, heck yeah, I bet his mech has some major firepower. I can’t wait to see it.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): I did wonder if he would have a mech. Considering how advanced his tech is, I figured he might. I look forward to seeing what it’s capable of.]

[Phoenixempress (Fenix Nest): So it’s finally time, is it?]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Finally, time for what?]

[Phoenixempress (Fenix Nest): I guess you will see at the UMB Cup charity match.]

The micro-fighters flew rapidly around the large-class ship, easily evading any attacks it fired at them, whether they be energy or ballistic-based. While the ship’s sensors could lock onto the micro-fighters, they were too small and nimble to receive a direct hit, and after evading an attack, they always fired back with their laser repeaters.

Suddenly, several new ships appeared from around Oceana Five before a message was broadcast on an open channel.

“This is the Merinmian Defence Force ship Sebastian. Unknown vessels, you have committed a crime based on Universal law, you are hereby ordered to surrender.”

As they finished broadcasting their message, the Merinmian Defence Force ships started firing on the two remaining enemy ships.

“Let’s finish this up, Stacey,” Adam suddenly said.

“Copy that,” Stacey said happily.

While the micro-fighters evaded attacks before counterattacking, Spector stopped evading the attacks aimed at it now that only one ship was targeting it and just had its powerful shields absorb everything since the lone medium-class ship was unable to breach its shields.

“I know the ship’s AI said that alone they posed minimal threat, but watching its shields absorb all those attacks from a ship in the same size category is very impressive.” Kasumi committed as her eyes started to shine slightly as she watched the battle that was clearly coming to an end.

“I know, normally you only see capital or the largest ship classes tank hits instead of evading since they lack the manoeuvrability,” Eri replied.

“Well, viewers, now that the Merinmian Defence Force has finally arrived, it looks like the battle is coming to an end with Diva Lorelie’s ship the winner by a clear margin. The question now is what her boyfriend plans to do with the lead ship that they disabled earlier.” Malgath commented.

“They’re both about to blow,” Eri said in excitement as the stream showed that both enemy ships’ shields had collapsed and their hulls were now taking laser damage directly.

As they watched, both ships exploded and remnants scattered out into space before starting to float away.

“IT’S OVER, OUR WINNER IS DIVA LORELIE’S BOYFRIEND,” Malgath shouted like a commentator, causing the studio audience to cheer and best into applause.

With that over and since we have a moment before Diva Lorelie’s boyfriend goes and inspects the disabled lead ship, why don’t we take a look at the poll we opened when the fight began and pick our lucky winner who will receive a signed Kasumi t-shirt.” Malgath said to the audience as a new holographic screen appeared next to him.

[[Xer-verse Poll: Who will win?]]

[[Diva Lorelie’s boyfriend: 97%]]

[[Enemy attackers: 3%]]

“Well, as we can all see, almost everyone who voted chose to side with Diva Lorelie’s boyfriend, whether that’s because they had faith in him or because Diva Lorelie was on his side, we don’t know, but I’m sure we could all hazard a guess,” Malgath said with a grin before he asked.

“Now, who is the lucky winner of the signed Kasumi t-shirt?”

The holographic screen changed to show a roulette wheel that was spinning so fast no one could make out what each of the sections said until the roulette wheel started to slow down, until it finally stopped on the Xer-verse ID: Prime.

“You’ve gotta be shitting me,” Rowena suddenly said as she saw the name making the audience laugh.

“Haha, well, ladies and gentlemen, Prime might not be lucky when it comes to things related to Diva Lorelie like being her chaperone, however it seems he does have some luck with Kasumi as he has just won her signed t-shirt,” Malgath said with a chuckle as he noticed that Kasumi’s smile seemed a bit forced that it kept twitching slightly.
