When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 468: Chapter 164: Green Tea Female Side Character in a Period Novel (51)

The project Jiang Zishi had his eye on was coming up soon. Unable to sit still, he went and sat down in the seat behind Chi Yun’er.

He knew that while others might face a ceiling on the final price, he could barely see a sliver of hope for himself.

”Yun’er, what exactly do I have to do for you to let me off the hook today?” Jiang Zishi asked through gritted teeth. Despite his anger, he reverted to his old methods of coaxing women, his tone a mixture of helplessness and feigned affection.

His act thoroughly disgusted the three men beside her. ”Hey, you foreigner, can’t you talk like a normal person? Are you even close with our Chi Yun’er? Stop trying to act so familiar!”

Jiang Zishi ignored them and continued, ”Yun’er, can’t we settle this in private? Or... or you could name your price?”

Chi Yun’er raised an eyebrow. ”Are you sure about that?”

Jiang Zishi clenched his fists, steeling himself.

’On one hand, I’m facing Chi Yun’er driving the price far beyond my comfort zone. I’ll either have to give up or keep setting new record highs. After all, compared to the future profits, what’s this little bit of money for a plot of land?’

’On the other hand, I could deal with Chi Yun’er’s targeted attacks for now. At least then, like everyone else, there would be a reachable price ceiling, and I could secure this plot of land!’

’So, sacrificing a little money seems worth it.’

He nodded. ”Of course. I’ve done many things wrong in the past, and today, I apologize. Consider this money my peace offering.”

With that, he swiftly wrote out a check for two hundred thousand. ℴ

Chi Yun’er took it without ceremony. Then she said coolly, ”Sir, after you tried to humiliate me by throwing a million Pounds in my face, you really think I’d be interested in a mere two hundred thousand? You’ve already whetted my appetite.”

Jiang Zishi was so angry he could have coughed up blood. He once again felt the sting of regret, the utter foolishness of having shot himself in the foot.

’It’s all because of that one million Pounds!’

’Why didn’t I just take care of business first before trying to humiliate Chi Yun’er?’

’That way, I wouldn’t have caught her attention so early and become her target. Now my real business is being jeopardized!’

”But the starting bid for this plot is only two million RMB, which is about two hundred thousand Pounds. Even if the price doubles, that’s only five hundred thousand Pounds. You...”

Chi Yun’er chuckled. ”So what? I’ve got my heart set on this plot. I’ll get it even if I have to throw in every penny I have and borrow more from my organization.”

”If I didn’t see how badly you want it, I wouldn’t even be giving you this chance to buy me off.”

”How about five hundred thousand?” Jiang Yihua interjected, taking a deep breath and trying to sound as calm as possible. ”I’ve noticed you usually just double or triple the price for others.”

”But who’s to say you don’t deserve my special, all-out treatment?” Chi Yun’er said with a light laugh. ”Anything less than ten times the price wouldn’t do justice to our decade-plus relationship, now would it?”

’Ten times... that would be over 2.3 million Pounds,’ he thought. ’But if I give her the money, will Chi Yun’er really back off?’

”One point three million! I don’t believe you have more money than that to throw around. And you’ll have to sign a written guarantee that you won’t inflate the price!” Jiang Zishi, after thinking for a long moment and seeing his item was next, couldn’t help but blurt out in desperation.

’So rich and arrogant,’ Chi Yun’er’s eyes shifted slightly, narrowing into a foxy gaze. ”But I just won a plot of land that I can resell. I’m sure that by the end of the auction, someone who hasn’t gotten what they want will be willing to pay a premium to buy it from me.”

”So the capital I have to compete with you is more, not less, than one point three million,” she said, waving the freshly acquired two-hundred-thousand check in her hand.

Jiang Zishi was so furious he felt like his lungs would explode.

’I just had to do it, didn’t I!’

”One point five million,” he ground out, word by word.

Chi Yun’er furrowed her brow slightly. ”One point seven million. I do really want that plot of land, you know.”

’Haggling is a delicate art. You have to take it one step at a time.’

Jiang Zishi stared at her coldly. The bidding for the plot was about to begin. He nodded. ”Fine. Let’s sign the agreement first.”

With that, he quickly drafted two simple agreements. They both signed and added their thumbprints.

Chi Yun’er was now another one-point-seven-million-Pound check richer, a sight that made her three companions’ jaws drop in astonishment.

’Who in this world is so eager to be a Money Scattering Child?’ they wondered.

Chi Yun’er put the checks away and chuckled. ”I may have agreed to stop competing with you, but we still have to go through the motions. Otherwise, people might think we’re working together to rip everyone off.”

Jiang Zishi breathed a sigh of relief. He was more than willing to spend money to buy himself some peace and quiet.

The most important thing was the land itself. Once he bought it and developed it into commercial housing, he could flip it and multiply his investment several times over. Plus, they were also planning to build a large shopping mall. Whether they ran it themselves or leased it out, it promised substantial, long-term profits.
