Child of Destiny

Chapter 1768: The Children of the Sun and the Moon (Part 1)

...

As Shin opened the mysterious letter, the system immediately informed him of the contents.

*Ding*

System: You have received the old letter of the Second Holy Maiden of the Temple of the Moon, which she had sent for Fifth Envoy Altus.

System: The Letter is filled with coded words and runes that you canʼt decipher. It is the unique language of the Sun and the Moon.

System: Head to the Church of the Sun and Moon and look for a Cardinal to decipher the message.

*Ding*

System: A surprise may be waiting for you.

…

Seeing the system messages, Shin could not help but smile bitterly for a moment. He first thought that he would directly gain the clue about the [Ring of the Abyssal Moon], but he was wrong.

It seemed like he needed to look for Cardinal Ronald to help him on this one. Fortunately, his relationship with this old cardinal was quite close, so it would not be hard to ask for help for something like this.

Moreover, Cardinal Ronald was also very trustworthy, so he would not have to worry about anything else.

”It looks like this priestess and the Fifth Envoy of the Church have some special and ambiguous relationship. I wonder what it is,” mumbled Shin to himself as he put the mysterious letter back into his inventory bag before suddenly pausing as he thought of something.

He then started laughing out loud immediately. ”I hope that it is not an affair or something.”

Even though the rules of the Church of the Sun and Moon were quite unique and allowed the paladins, priests, or priestesses, and clerics to have a relationship with one another, there were still some special positions that forbade them from committing such an act.

For these positions, the Holy Maidens of certain Churches and the Envoys or representatives of another were forbidden to have such a relationship with one another.

He was not sure about the exact reason, but he knew that it had something to do with the Divine Commandments that the respective churches were worshipping.

Those Divine Beings seemed to be afraid of another ʼZepthus,ʼ the First Nephilim and the founder of the Church of the Sun and Moon, to appear once again.

”The Second Holy Maiden from the Temple of the Moon Elves and the Fifth Envoy of the Church of the Sun and Moon. Suspicious. This is very suspicious,” mumbled Shin as his imagination ran wild for a moment. ”Even if there is a good relationship between the two factions due to the Moon Goddess that the Elves worship is somewhat related to the Sun God, there are still rules that are set by these Divine Beings.”

”Moreover, there is also the Atlas God, who is the God of Humans. He has also contributed a lot to building the Church of the Sun and Moon, which is why the churchʼs believers are dominated by Humans and Elves.”

”I wonder what the relationship between these two Church Representatives is,” he mumbled before sighing. ”It is useless to guess it right now. I will naturally learn about it after deciphering the contents of the message.”

After setting aside this thought for a moment, Shin then looked around and saw the silver-white flames filling the entire dungeon.

”Tsk! It is a pity to leave this place just like this. After all, this is another isolated dimension. I wonder if I can combine it into my Reaperʼs Realm,” he mumbled as he found this matter a little tricky.

When this though crossed his mind, all the Brilliant Flames filling the entire dungeon suddenly started rushing toward his direction before being sucked by the [Ring of the Brilliant Sun].

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Seeing this happen, Shin could not help but feel a little shock, especially after sensing that the ring was slowly growing stronger.

It might not affect the stats that the ring was providing him, but he could still feel that the power sealed within it was rapidly growing.

This could only mean that he was not strong enough to wield such power, which was very understandable, especially when the seal placed on the [Ring of the Brilliant Sun] only let him use the Tier 3 abilities that also reflected his current tier.

It was quite a while before the ring could absorb all the Brilliant Flames within the dungeon. But once it was done, the patterns that the ring possessed became more noticeable, making the runes engraved into it shine a little brighter.

At the same time, Shin was now emitting a hot aura, which significantly affected the surrounding space and mana.

Fortunately, he could turn that aura off, which was provided by the ring. If it were passively active all the time, then it would be tricky for Shin to sneak in anywhere due to the sudden rise in temperature wherever he went.

Not long after, the entire dungeon turned into a desolate place, where there was nothing but an empty space.

It became something like a void.

At the same time, the seal on the rest of his Elemental Spirits was also released, letting them communicate with Shin once again.

Immediately after, Hanzoʼs voice suddenly rang into his ears. As an Ancient Void Spirit, this old elemental knew the elements of space and void more compared to anyone else. [Brat, throw the Dimensional Token in the air. We will help you transfer this place to expand our independent realm.]

Shin did not even hesitate as he took out the Realmʼs Key from his inventory space and threw it in the air.

Swoosh!

Right after the token appeared, it released a multiple colored light, which represented each of the Elemental Spirits that Shin had contracted with.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

He did not have to wait that long before the entire dungeon to be sucked by the token, which then turned into a small black hole.

*Ding*

System: You have cleared all the conditions of the trial. You are now being teleported back to the main world.

Right before the space where Shin stood by the dimensional token, the system had informed him of the transfer before he was sent out of the dungeon.

Grabbing the token, Shin then left the void, sending him back to the Atlas World.

Swoosh!

Shin did not waste that much time right after he returned. He immediately headed to Divinity City and quickly went to the Church of the Sun and Moon, looking for Cardinal Ronal, whom he had not seen for quite a while.

”A rare visitor. What does our youngest envoy need for this old cardinal to be worthy of your visit?” greeted Cardinal Ronald right after Shin entered his study.

Given the tone the old cardinal had, Shin could tell that the latter somewhat foresaw his visit. ”It has been a while, Sir Ronald. I indeed need your help about something.”

Shin did not waste any time on formality as the old cardinal seemed to be quite in a rush to finish his work.

”Oh~!? Is that so? I just hope that this time, you will not give me a troublesome job as bailing you out of jail,” said Cardinal Ronald jokingly.

Hearing that, Shin could not help but suppress the twitching of his mouth. ʼArenʼt you the one who gives me the more troublesome job of ʼinterrogatingʼ that Ancient Demon?ʼ

After complaining inside his head, Shin immediately took out the letter that he had gotten from the dungeon before saying. ”This letter is something I have gotten from a dungeon. It is written in coded message, so I hope Sir Ronald can help me decipher it.”

Cardinal Ronald did not immediately respond as his eyes were locked on the ring on Shinʼs finger, ignoring the letter completely.

He only gave out a sigh after having a good look at the ring. ”So, our youngest envoy indeed found the inheritance of our Fifth Envoy and successfully passed his trial.”

Hearing that, Shin could not help but become a little surprised, not expecting that the old cardinal knew about this.

Seemingly understanding what Shin was thinking, Cardinal Ronald chuckled. ”There is no need to be surprised. Sir Third Envoy briefly sensed the aura of the Fifth Envoy when you entered and exited the isolated dimension earlier.”

”Sir Third Envoy has already informed us about this, so I somehow expected that you would be coming to me for consultation,” added the old cardinal before continuing. ”But I still do not expect that you will get the final letter of Holy Maiden Qilué of the Moon Elves from that place as well.”

He paused for a moment before turning his gaze to Shin. ”I can see that you want to know what the relationship between the Second Holy Maiden of the Temple of the Moon and our Fifth Envoy is.”

”But can reassure you that it is not something that you are thinking,” he added with a chuckle before continuing. ”The two of them are siblings.”

Shin could not help but raise his brows higher when he heard those words. He then nodded as the expression on his face became a little serious. He knew that it was going to be a long story time with this.
