Child of Destiny

Chapter 1765: Final Raid of the Trial (Part 3)

...

Bang! Bang! Bang!

After a few more intense clashes against Kardama, Shin finally understood why defeating this monster was an optional and not a main clear condition of the trial.

Looking at the remaining supply of Health Points in his inventory, Shin knew that he would only last a dozen more minutes if he still not force the opposing party to enter his second phase.

”Tsk!” He could only click his tongue as he also sensed that his concentration was also somewhat being burned at an even faster rate.

Fortunately, his control over the surrounding energies, particularly the Brilliant Flames, was also growing stronger. This made it easier to execute a more complicated technique despite how advanced they were. He only needed a small part of his concentration to execute them, lessening the burden provided by the strong consumption of his moves.

He was also getting more familiar with the moves of his opponent, which was becoming a little more predictable and easier to withstand.

”Hu~!”

Taking a deep breath, Shin adjusted his position midair, assuming his familiar stance.

Click!

All of a sudden, he unsheathed the [Yamato] and threw a series of slashes before him, which then turned into a group of intertwining sword flashes that left a stunning scene.

Shing!

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The sword flashes cut the massive cluster of dark energy sent by Kardama, making it explode.

Whoosh!

But not long after, the Humanoid Dragon suddenly broke through the cloud of smoke produced by the explosion and flew straight to Shin with a flying kick.

Shin, on the other hand, swung the blazing sword down in a calm and composed manner.

Shing!

This action left a shining vertical cut in the space between him and Kardama, which swiftly turned into a blazing storm that spread in two different directions.

Shriek!

A pair of blazing wings was first to appear before a huge bird made of fire suddenly appeared and met the incoming attack from his opponent.

Boom!

Yet another explosion erupted, causing the surrounding energies to ripple violently.

This time, Shin had gotten Kardama and landed a good hit, which caused the Health Bar of the latter to finally fall to 5-million-mark.

Roar!

A deafening roar suddenly rang as the blazing storm before Shin burned more violently alongside the rapidly expanding cloud of smoke and fire.

Shin swiftly retreated when he saw this, flapping his wings as hard as he could to create as much distance as possible.

Swoosh!

Boom!

Not long after, Shin saw a colossal silhouette forming behind the huge blazing cloud of smoke.

Shin did not have to guess what it was as he could already tell it at a glance. ”Tsk! His second phase is a straight-up transformation into his true form!? This is going to be a little trickier.”

As Shin mumbled those words, he swiftly initiated Racial Berserk Skill, activating all the necessary requirements and undergoing his version of transformation.

Boom!

Roar!

As he completed his transformation, which was slightly different from the previous forms due to the lack of Elemental Spirits forming a circular formation behind him, the colossal body of the Evil Dark Dragon was also finally revealed.

For the ʼopening moveʼ, the dragon concentrated its mana into its throat while looking so serious.

”F*ck! Dragonʼs Breath right from the start? Are you serious!?” cursed Shin as he saw the signs of the skill from a distance.

He could normally prevent that kind of move with such obvious signs, but it would be difficult with the current distance between him and the evil dragon.

Roar!

ʼEvil Dragonʼs Breath: Dark Annihilationʼ

Boom!

Seeing the rapidly approaching dragonʼs breath, Shin swiftly took his signature sword-drawing stance as his wings were set ablaze by the Brilliant Flames that he had pulled from the surroundings, turning them into a huge pair of blazing wings.

At the same time, the other batch of energies suddenly gathered toward his sheathed sword, accumulating as much flame as possible.

Click!

When the fast-approaching breath of the evil dragon was almost upon him, Shin suddenly unsheathed the blazing [Yamato] and swung it horizontally, releasing all the accumulated energies out and sending it forward.

Shing!

ʼJade Kirin Scripture: Quick Drawo (Blazing) – Pheonix Wrathʼ

Shriek!

A loud cry of a phoenix suddenly reverberated in the entire place as an apparition of a flaming bird manifested behind Shin and merged with him and his blazing wings.

It opened its beak and breathed out a blazing beam that collided against the incoming breath of the evil dragon.

Boom!

As a massive explosion was created upon the collision of the two powers, a huge cloud of blazing smoke immediately spread in every direction, which even reached the sky of the dungeon.

Swoosh!

Not long after, a hole was created amid the blazing cloud of smoke, revealing Shinʼs figure that was flying higher in the sky.

He was flying upwards with all his might, trying to create as much distance as possible from the center of the explosion.

Roar!

Not long after, the evil dragon also broke through the huge blazing cloud of smoke, flapping its pair of gigantic wings as it chased after Shin.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The surrounding smoke was immediately dispersed by the violent gust of wind that the dragonʼs wings were creating.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

After seeing that Shin was getting further away from it, the evil dragon suddenly opened its huge mouth and started firing a series of beams at Shin.

Shin was then forced to slow down a little, focusing on dodging each beam of light that was flying in his direction.

Those beams might be noticeably weaker than the earlier dragonʼs breath, but their destructive powers were still enough to kill Shin within an instant.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Doing his best to dodge those energy beams, Shin could not help but slow down greatly, letting the evil dragon catch up to him.

Roar!

Right after it reached Shin, the evil dragon swiftly swung its claws at him, creating a series of shockwaves in the air that indicated how powerful it was.

Boom!

Seeing that, Shin swiftly did a spin-roll in the air, skillfully maneuvering his body to get away from the trajectory of the attack.

He did this multiple times until he got away from the barrage of attacks from the evil dragon, which varied from claw swipes, tail strikes, and dragon bites.

Due to the colossal body of the evil dragon, it became easier to target despite its overwhelming strength and physical power. But this did not mean that dealing damage would be easier. After all, a dragonʼs body was famous for its toughness and well-rounded defenses. Its scales alone were more than enough to be called the best natural armor of all living beings.

Shin did not waste his time and energy on throwing any random attacks at it unless necessary. He would only be throwing a counterattack to redirect the trajectories of the claws, or when he was targeting the vital points of the dragon, like its eyes, or whenever it opened its mouth.

This way, he could save his energy and lessen the burden on his concentration.

But what made Shin a little frustrated was that he could not find any opening at all. Even the wings of the dragon, which were mostly one of the weaknesses of some, were as tough as the hardest steel due to the dark energy that was constantly protecting them.

”Tsk! So, this overgrown lizard is not that stupid,” mumbled Shin as he realized that Kardama still had sharp battle senses despite being sealed in this place for a long time.

He first thought that due to the union of the soul of the original Kardama and the fragment of the divine apostle, its mind would be a little chaotic, especially when he put the seal into consideration.

But from the look of it, this evil being might have lost its mind and personality but still retained its overwhelming power and sharp senses for battle.

It could be said that it was an innate ability of dragons or any other beings on the same level. It was something called the hereditary lineage.

As his line of thought passed through this topic, Shin could not help but have a sudden enlightenment.

Time seemed to have stopped when he thought about this.

At the same time, a flood of ideas flowed toward his head. One of them was about the trial that the Fifth Envoy of the Church of the Sun and Moon had prepared.

”It is not just for the [Ring of the Brilliant Sun] or the understanding of the Brilliant Flames. This trial must have also been targeted to tell the successors of the church about the real capabilities of the Nephilim Race.”

”If that is the case, then this trial is just one of the many that I have to clear along the way.”

”No wonder there is a clue about the [Ring of the Abyssal Moon] among the rewards of this solo dungeon,” he mumbled as he thought about this.

This also reminded him about what Arthur had mentioned about evolving his Dragonkin Race into a True Dragon despite already being a Transcendent Race.

”This must be the path that will point us beyond the Tier 5 Class and surpass being a Sovereign Being of this plane.”
