Child of Destiny

Chapter 853: A Form that almost lost and the Key to achieve Perfection

...…

Swoosh!

On the main battlefield, Arthur was already close to reaching Lupus. He only needed to travel a few more meters before reaching the werewolf.

But before reaching his target, he first needed to get through the armored wolf standing between him and Lupus.

The air of that armored wolf was not any weaker compared to what Lupus had. In fact, Arthur was even sensing more threat coming from this wolf than the werewolf itself.

If only Arthur didnʼt have a clear goal right now, then he wanted to fight this armored wolf instead of facing Lupus. Unfortunately, their current situation couldnʼt let him choose his opponent.

In terms of fighting and survival capabilities, it was pretty clear that Shin and Arthur were now definitely on equal terms.

Shin even had a slight edge if it was about prolonged battles since he could continuously grow in battle with the help of his Battle Genius talent.

But the role that needed to be filled when fighting Lupus was not only about holding it in place and battling it on an equal footing. It was about pinning it in place while dealing constant damage and enduring all of the heavy blows from the werewolf.

Shin might be able to fill that job. His speed, which was also much faster than Arthurʼs, could also help him catch up with Lupus and constantly chase after it.

But Arthur could also do it. And much better than Shin since he had a higher defense than Shin to endure the attacks of the werewolf.

On top of that, as a knight, Arthur naturally had a higher STR stat than Shin. It would help him push Lupus back during battle – or at least, hold his ground and not lose in a contest of strength.

Arthur would be able to force Lupus to fight him in an intense melee and stationary battle instead of a contest of speed where they needed to constantly move and keep flashing all over the place.

This way, the other members of the group who were stationed at the backline were going to have an easier time dealing more damage both to Lupus and the wolf generals.

In terms of overall qualifications, Arthur was still the better candidate for the role of holding Lupus in place.

Having a clear goal right now, Arthur suppressed his urge to fight this armored wolf in front of him and decided to leave it to Shin to deal with.

Naturally, the wolf didnʼt know what was running inside his head. It started sprinting forward while glaring sharply at him.

Unfortunately for the armored wolf, Arthur didnʼt have a plan to fight it. When he was a few meters away from it, he suddenly took a step to the side, revealing the powerful energy wave from behind.

Swoosh!

ʼSlayer Skill: (Modified) Eclipse Slashʼ

Since Arthur perfectly timed his move and the armored wolf was completely occupied with him, the wolf failed to notice the surprise attack coming from behind.

On top of that, this particular energy wave was not the same as the previous ones that Shin usually had since this particular skill was executed under the influence of the Reality Manifestation State.

Awoo~!

The armored knew that it was already too late to dodge this attack, so it decided to face it head-on after activating one of its defensive skills.

The black armor protecting its body suddenly released a faint glow before forming a spherical barrier around it, blocking the incoming attack.

Boom!

The energy wave of the Eclipse Slash immediately scattered in the air right after it collide with the barrier. It was like the flowing water in a river after encountering a huge boulder blocking its path.

The armored wolf successfully blocked that attack with ease. But despite that being the case, this wolf still didnʼt dare to lower its guard since the real threat was just about to arrive.

Swoosh!

When the energy wave finally exhausted its last bit of power, a moving shadow suddenly flew right behind and charged straight at the armored wolf.

Shin, who was now under the influence of a two-fold berserk skill and Reality Manifestation, was carrying an immense threat that could never be ignored.

In the circle of assassins from the real world, there are two types of assassins known to every expert in the world that could achieve reach the peak in this profession. One has the ability to hide their killing intent and only would release it at the very last moment while the other was constantly releasing their killing intent to the fullest.

The former type of assassin was said to be the most dangerous one. It was because they could appear as ordinary people from the outside and approach their targets without being noticed.

And when they finally revealed their intent to kill, then it was already too late for their prey to react. They were already dead before they could even have the chance to know what just happened.

Coupled with the assassination technique where they could completely hide their presence, this type of assassin could eliminate without being discovered. They would be like poisoned air that could kill without being discovered.

Dying without knowing how they died was the most terrifying thing that anyone could experience.

Faker fell into this category of an assassin. He possessed this gift that made him a perfect assassin. Once he mastered this ability, he would surely be one of the most feared assassins in the world.

On the other hand, the other type of assassin was completely the opposite. Instead of completely hiding their intent to kill, this type of assassin openly showcased their hostility.

A killing intent of an individual could also be used as a weapon if it was used properly. It was also another form of ʼAura Manifestationʼ in a sense. The only difference that it had from it was its nature itself. A killing intent, as its name suggested, was pure hostility.

If honed to the fullest, this could become a ʼDeath Auraʼ.

All disciplines had their respective ʼweaponsʼ unique to them just like Martial Artists had their ʼMartial Prowessʼ and ʼCombat Instinctsʼ and Swordsmen were wielding their ʼSword Senseʼ and ʼMindʼs Eyeʼ, Assassins possessed their ʼTraceless Presenceʼ and ʼDeath Auraʼ.

It was hard to sense the Death Aura of the first type of assassins since they could completely hide them.

On the other hand, the second type of assassin was using this special aura to confuse the senses of their targets.

By constantly spreading their Death Aura and completely filling the surrounding area with it, their target would have a hard time sensing when and where the attack was coming from.

These kinds of assassins were not afraid to show themselves in front of their opponents. This was also the reason why they were being called ʼBerserk Assassinsʼ, they more looked like engaging in a brawl than doing an assassination.

Though, there was also a saying that said ʼa true assassin could turn a brawl into an assassinationʼ.

Shin, as a trained agent of the Black Serpent Mafia, was also familiar with this. It might be long, but he still knew how to utilize his killing intent and turn it into a lesser Death Aura.

He might not be able to hone his assassination techniques before since he already became Professor Plumʼs disciple. He became a little rusty when it came to this.

Thankfully, he got a chance to explore this discipline once again when he joined this game. Here, he was able to train his assassination techniques and regained his previous form, especially when he became the ʼEmperor of the Nightʼ.

Then, just recently, some of his memories returned. His encounter with Uno awakened something within him that he had almost forgotten. He might not have a chance to explore it in the real world since his Martial Arts were suddenly been sealed.

But in this world, with the help of Reality Manifestation, he had gotten a chance to see what he was capable of with his assassin techniques. It was not his usual style, but a more refined assassination technique than he had before.

Moreover, his physical quantities, his Wolfkin Form, were perfectly fitted for this idea.

From what he had glimpsed in those memories, Shin was aware that Uno was the one who mostly spent his time in Black Serpent Mafia Training Camp after he thought Alyssa died. But his body could still remember those experiences and training.

The Reality Manifestation came at the perfect time for Shin for many reasons. He could train his Martial Arts inside the game, he could understand more about his innate talents, hone his swordsmanship, and now had a chance to get his form back to the tone where he could perfectly execute top-class assassination techniques.

Earlier, Shin just gained enlightenment about his swordsmanship and achieved the state of being one with the sword. This greatly affected his Yin-Yang Swordsmanship positively.

Just like the Yin-Yang Arts, Yin-Yang Swordsmanship possessed two styles and Shin already mastered one of them, the destructive and straightforward style of the ʼYang Bladeʼ, which also focused on the discipline of ʼLifeʼ.

The Yang Blade was mostly what Shin used since it fitted his style more. Or to be more precise, the set of skills taught to him by Professor Plum greatly supported the Yang Blade.

On the other hand, Shin didnʼt have many skillsets to complement the ʼYin Bladeʼ. Old Plum told him that he needed to first learn the depths of ʼDeathʼ before he could understand the real strength of that style.

And at this very moment, Shin, who now remembered some of his memories, could learn more about ʼDeathʼ through his past assassination techniques.

Swoosh!

Shin released all of his killing intent without restraint and spread it to his surroundings while charging forward.

A few moments later, his pure killing intent turned into ʼDeath Auraʼ that surround the area where the armored wolf was standing.

His control over the ʼDeath Auraʼ might look a little clumsy and incomplete, but it was more than enough for him to fool the senses of the wolf for a brief moment.

Shin arrived before the armored wolf right after his previous attack exhausted its powers. He then swung his sabers at the barrier set up by the wolf earlier, slicing through it like a hot knife through butter.

Sha!

The armored wolf managed to jump away from Shin at the right time since it was keeping its cautiousness since earlier. But despite how fast its reaction was, the tip of [Dusk Blade] still managed to graze its right eye, wounding it.
