Child of Destiny

Chapter 852: A Chaotic Battle and an Isolated Duel

...…

Shin and Arthur stared at the werewolf Lupus and the four wolf generals surrounding it like loyal guards.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Ta-ta!

It was at that moment when Zero, Faker, Simba, and Lawless arrived one after the other.

Shin quickly turned to them and asked. ”What happened?”

Leonard shook his head. ”We are still not sure. We are properly holding them in place when the surrounding wolves start to die one by one, then these four suddenly ignore us and start running towards here.”

”We tried to stop them, at least until the barrier is fully built. But when we thought we are successful, a void rift suddenly appeared out of nowhere and swallow them up. And then, they suddenly appeared here,” added Lawless with a deep frown.

”And with their current appearance, it is pretty obvious that they have a complete upgrade,” commented Arthur before continuing. ”Well, our job still hasnʼt changed. We just need to beat them just like our original plan.”

Hearing his optimistic remarks, the others couldnʼt help but chuckle a little since he was not wrong about it.

Then it was Shinʼs turn to give his instructions. ”Given that they are together, we canʼt ignore the possibility that this going to be a group battle.”

”This going to be completely different compared to our previous battles. We may be battling against an organized group of Monster Boss.”

Shin looked again at the opposing side and checked the ʼcompositionʼ of their team once again. ʼA huge wolf that seemed to be a heavy unit of an army, a wolf with an ability to manipulate the Elemental Mana, a wolf with a regular size but giving off a dangerous scent like an expert assassin, and a wolf donned with a set of special armor and possessed the air of a seasoned fighter.ʼ

ʼNo matter how I look at it, this is definitely a well-balanced team composition that mostly covers every role, except healers. Or one of them may even have the ability to support the others just like an auxiliary type monster.ʼ

ʼThen there is also the main boss who also has a huge upgrade of its own. This is definitely going to be a systematic group battle.ʼ

The wolves from the other side didnʼt immediately attack the group as if they were waiting for their opponents to make the first move.

The others found it ridiculous when they saw the wolves seemingly inviting them to take the initiative. But since it looked like the case, then the group was more than happy to comply.

Shin gave quick instructions to the group as he charge ahead alongside Arthur. ”Arielle and Black Hand, give us buffs. Range group, wait for us to stabilize the aggro and have full control of the frontline before making your move. S.Tigris and Seven protect them and be on guard to any kind of unexpected development.”

Cloe and Black Hand complied with his swords without any hesitations and quickly cast a series of buffs on the group. Then the others organized themselves getting ready for what was about to happen next.

After that, Shin turned at the others who were running alongside him. ”We are going to use Reality Manifestation now and go all-out from the get-go.”

”You will be able to enter it without problem, right, Brother Lawless?” he asked as he turned to the Tigerkin who was still under the effects of his special bloodline within the game.

”Hah! Such thing as simple as that is not going to be a problem,” answered Lawless confidently.

”Then I will trust you in that, Brother Lawless,” he responded he charged ahead alongside them,

Each of them, who would act as the frontline of the group, had a dedicated role that they needed to fill. Shin didnʼt even need to tell them about it since they were already aware of what they needed to do.

Whoosh!

Having the tacit understanding, Arthur quickly accelerated his speed and charge ahead of the group. His body and spear were entirely covered by a golden flame that had some hint of electricity in them.

During his charge, the trail of light that he was leaving behind resembled the body of a serpent dragon as he executed his foot technique.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Running right behind Arthur was a pair of Beastmen of different subraces, a Tigerkin and a Lionkin. The former was not carrying any weapon aside from his fist while the latter was carrying a pair of battle axes.

Lawless was covered with a steam-like aura that was continuously being released by his body. The trail that was left behind might not be as flashy as Arthur but if someone looked at him from the front, then they would see an illusion where a huge tiger was running alongside him.

On the other hand, Leonardʼs aura was in no way inferior compared to theirs. The seemingly Qi surrounding his body was similar to what Arthur had at the moment, but it had a crimson color instead of a golden one.

At the same time, the flame-like aura that he had was dancing alongside the air and resembled a mane of a lion. If Arthur possessed a majestic and ferocious aura of a dragon, then Leonard had a dignified and savaged nature of a lion.

Awoo~!

Seeing the three running towards them, the wolves from the other side howled towards the sky before making their move.

Swoosh!

Bang!

The first to move was the giant wolf as it charged ahead with its massive body. The ground seemed to be shaking violently for every step that it took, signifying the strength that it possessed behind its size and weight.

Seeing the incoming wolf, Arthur made a few curves during his charge, creating an illusionary movement that confused the senses of the wolf.

Grr!

A low growl could be heard from the giant wolf as it squinted its eyes while watching Arthurʼs movement closely. Despite how confusing he was moving, the wolf seemed to be able to see them very clearly.

Then Arthur suddenly paused on a single point for a brief moment, making the giant wolf accelerate its speed and pounce at him.

The sudden burst of speed from the giant wolf was insanely fast as it was able to reach Arthur with a single jump. It opened its mouth widely, trying to devour the little human in a single gulp.

Bang!

But unfortunately for it, Arthur was able to see through everything. His innate talent not only gave him the ability to predict his opponentsʼ moves by reading the slight movements of their muscles, but he was also able to use it to bait them to come after him.

After fooling the senses of the giant wolf, Arthur successfully baited it with his sudden pause. Then the wolfʼs instincts couldnʼt help but see that scene as a perfect opportunity to launch an attack.

Hu~!

After completely erasing the threat that Arthur had, he suddenly kicked the ground and launched himself forward. His sudden burst of speed was not inferior to the giant wolf, and since he perfectly timed it, he suddenly flew past it and continue moving forward.

Bang!

Swoosh!

Arthur had a clear goal in this battle, and that was to reach the Lupus as fast as he could. The werewolf was the one with the greatest threat among their enemies, and it had a very high AI and was pretty cunning too.

As the main tank of this expedition team, his main job was to stick to it like gum and donʼt ever let go.

Their backline already had capable people to protect them, so he didnʼt have to worry about them and dedicate himself to his current role.

Swoosh!

The giant wolf slid to the ground to prevent its massive body from going further. Then it immediately took a turn and planned to chase after Arthur who continued to run forward without turning his head.

Bang! Bang!

”-649,552”, ”-700,234”

But before it could even execute its plan, a pair of powerful attacks landed on its body successively.

The first attack was from a battle-axe that forced the giant wolf to stop moving to endure the impact. It successfully withstood that attack and perverted its body from falling.

But immediately after that, the giant wolf felt like it was hit by a massive boulder as Lawless arrived running and rammed his shoulder at the huge body of the wolf.

His body and weight might be insignificant compared to the massive body of the giant wolf, but the momentum that he had during his charge was not something to be ignored. He flew like a bullet as he slammed his body toward the wolf.

Leonardʼs previous attack also help Lawless since it made the giant wolf completely stationary. And by borrowing the residual force from the previous impact, he was able to successfully push the giant wolf to trip over.

Bang!

A loud sound could be heard as its massive fell on the ground, creating a shockwave that cleared the snow on the ground.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

When Leonard and Lawless were about to continue to attack the now defenseless giant wolf, a barrage of elemental spells suddenly flew towards their direction and forced them to take a step back a little.

But when the two felt that they were already out of the range of those elemental spells, they suddenly took an unexpected curve in the air and continued to chase after them.

Leonard and Lawless were slightly surprised at that scene, but they didnʼt lose their composure. Then they resumed charging toward the giant wolf instead of concerning themselves with those elemental spells.

Now that those spells changed their course, the path toward the giant wolf was not cleared. And those two took that opportunity to go back to their main target.

That was not because they thought those spells were weak, but because there was already someone who would take care of those spells for them.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

A barrage of wind blades flew in the air and accurately hit each of those spells, without missing a single one.

Zero, who was running a few distances away from the two earlier, showcased his accuracy by sending those wind blades from a distance.

He didnʼt even stop in there as he took the initiative to throw more wind blades and send them towards the direction where the wolf that could manipulate the elemental mana was located.

Seeing the swift and accurate attack from Zero, the mage-like wolf started summoning more elemental spells and sent them forward to block the incoming wind blades.

...

In meantime, away from that battlefield, a lone wolf was moving at an insane speed. Its speed might be fast, but each of its steps was not even making a mark on the snowfield.

An extremely fast speed yet still moving sneakily, this was the specialty of this particular wolf. When the chaotic battle broke out between Shinʼs group and the other wolves, this wolf was already making its way to where the rest of the group was located.

Its vicious eyes were even locked on Cloe and Black Hand who were constantly giving buffs and steadily healing the members of the group who were fighting at the frontline.

But before it could even execute its perfect ambush, the wolf suddenly sensed the danger looming in the area ahead of it.

It suddenly halted its steps and cautiously glared in front of it.

It was at that moment when Faker suddenly showed himself. He walked out from behind the dense fog without making a sound. ”This wolf is really interesting. Not only it has an assassinʼs temperament, but its habits and cunning plans are also similar to what a real assassin will do.”

Grr!

The wolf couldnʼt understand what Faker was saying, but it was still extremely angry as it was blocked by this human once again.

Swoosh!

It suddenly disappeared from its current position. It was planning to rip Faker apart.

”If only I can capture and make you my pet, then I am willing to swap the one that I currently have,” said Faker as he couldnʼt help but feel amazed at this wolf.

He then turned into a blur as he dodged the claw that was about to hit his head.

Then a pair of shadows flashed and clashed in this place as Faker engaged in an intense battle against the wolf.
