Child of Destiny

Chapter 276: Lending a Helping Hand

...

”Leave now and I will spare your lives.”

Shin swept his gaze at the members of the Minotaur Guild and made them take a few steps backwards unconsciously . Just by standing on his spot, the opposing side could tell that this guy who was starting at them was not a simple player that they could easily provoke.

But just like any other places, there were always some guys that could not understand the difference in strength or just chose to ignore it.

”Heh! Such arrogant words you have there. Do you even know who we are? You should mind your own business and better get lost now while we are still in a good mood,” sneered by Bover after a few seconds of getting off-guard.

When Shin heard that, he could help himself but release some chuckles since he couldnʼt believe what he had heard. Even if he was quite new in the gaming industry, that didnʼt mean that he was someone that could be trifled with easily.

After all, he was already a Maverick Ranker. Even if it was his other identity, it was still him. Whatʼs more, this ʼNameless Swordsmanʼ persona of his was currently much stronger than the other one due to the set of Legacy Skills in his arsenal.

When Bover saw that Shin didnʼt have an intention of listening to him, he immediately became agitated and gave out some orders. ”Take down that guy first! He is underestimating us much and not putting the Minotaur Guild in his eyes at all!”

When the members of the Minotaur Guild heard those words, they couldnʼt help but release some groans as they were hesitant at fighting Shin. All of them could tell that he was a top-class expert after all.

But an order was an order, they needed to follow it even if they were unwilling to do it. Whatʼs more, they also needed to defend the honor of their guild since their group was one or the main groups of the ʼMinotaur Guildʼ, which also meant that they were all Rankers.

Plus, Shin was currently alone. So, they might still have a chance of defeating him.

Or so they thought.

Because on the very next moment, Shin suddenly raised his head a little more and let them see the [Nephilimʼs Gemini Mask] that he was currently wearing. And since this mask was the trademark of his ʼNameless Swordsmanʼ identity, the opposing side immediately knew that they hit a metal wall this time.

Even if this guy was alone, he still had some reputation of defeating some Rankersʼ Group under his belt.

And without further ado, Shin immediately teleported himself in the middle of his opponents with the help of ʼDeath Travelʼ equipment skill.

”Since you guys donʼt want to resolve this in a peaceful way, while I am still in a good mood, then letʼs clean this place up immediately. I am quite in a hurry after all,” said Shin as he thrust the blazing [Yamato] on the ground.

And on the very next moment, a pillar of black flame suddenly rose from the ground while having a radius of 5 meters.

ʼSelf-Created Skill (Personalized): Solaris Pillarʼ

Boom!

All of it happened a little too fast for the members of Minotaur Guild to respond in time. And before they could even process what just happened, a horizontal Sword Qi suddenly appeared at the other side of their ranks, where all of their supports and range players were located.

The length of the Sword Qi was quite large as it covered a 10-meter distance from its source and almost formed a full circle when you looked at it from above.

ʼSelf-Created Skill (Personalized): Full Moon Slashʼ

And it turned out that Shin actually teleported him to that area with a consecutive use of ʼVoid Stepsʼ and ʼPhantom Stepsʼ.

Just like that, Shin already attacked each side of the opposing group, making them suffer a huge amount of losses. Not only their melee players were either killed or heavily injured, but also their supports and range players were actually killed in that sword wave that Shin had sent.

In just an instant, Shin was able to reduce the 50-member group of Rankers into a 10-member group with 9 members having critical health.

Bover was too dumbfounded at the sight of his miserable subordinates and couldnʼt believe what just happened. In fact, he was actually unable to fully understand what he had witnessed. ”What the heck was that?”

Meanwhile, Camille and the others in her party also couldnʼt keep up at the sudden turn of events. They were facing a 50-man group of Rankers just a few moments ago. But now, that very group has actually become some group of insects that were either burned into dust by a black pillar of flame or cut down by a silver sword wave.

And whatʼs even more shocking in this sight, it actually only took two skills from Shin to almost eradicate that Rankersʼ Group. Well, aside from the blinking skills that he sneakily used of course.

”You-!... You!” Bover didnʼt know what to say as he spouted out a single word repeatedly while pointing at Shin with his trembling hands.

Shin turned his head at the trembling ʼleaderʼ of the group and said. ”You are the one that asked for this. I already said earlier that I can still spare your lives if you leave this place peacefully. But alas, you rejected such a kind of offer from me,” while putting his sword in its sheath.

At this point, the surviving members of the group immediately regroup together while looking at Shin with cautious eyes. They positioned themselves in front of Bover as they planned to protect him and buy some time for their leader to activate one of the Tier 3 offensive magic scrolls that they had.

From the looks of it, they already forgot about the existence of Camilleʼs Group as the main threat that they currently had was this ʼmonsterʼ in front of them.

Unfortunately, things didnʼt go to what they had expected.

In fact, Shin even chuckled and thanked them when he saw that they suddenly group together. ”I should be grateful for grouping together and not wasting anymore of my time.”

When those words left his mouth, it suddenly sent some chills at the back of the opposing group as they knew that they f*cked up. And before they could even do anything more, Shin was already turning into an illusionary figure that suddenly rushed towards them while leaving a trail of silver light on his path.

Swoosh!

And before he passed through the bodies of his opponents, Shin quickly pulled the [Yamato] out from its sheath before swinging it rightwards.

Shing!

ʼClass Fighting Style: Moonlight Splitterʼ

When Shin materialized once again, he was already standing at Boverʼs back while re-sheathing his sword.

”Next time, make sure that you know who you are talking to. Or at least, make sure that you possess enough strength to back-up your words. Hiding behind the reputation of your so-called powerful guild is not going to be enough all the time,” said Shin at Bover while facing their backs with each other.

Bover wanted to say something but he was already turning into specks of lights that immediately disappeared a moment later.

After that, Shin started cleaning up the battlefield by looting up everything that his opponents had dropped.

At the same time, Camilleʼs Group was looking at him with dumbfounded faces as he picked up his spoils in a leisure manner.

When he was done looting everything and making sure that he didnʼt miss anything, he finally turned his attention to Camille and others. And when Camille and her teammates saw that Shin was looking at their direction, their nerves couldnʼt help but become tense as they were thinking that there were going to be next.

But contrary to what they were expecting, Shin didnʼt attack them unlike what he did to the other group.

”Did he really help us? I honestly thought that he is here to steal the monster boss from us,” said Mason as he turned his head slightly towards the trapped Blue Demon Kong not far from them.

The scroll that Bover had used earlier was something special as it would not get disabled even if the caster died.

When Hodgson heard Masonʼs words, he couldnʼt help himself but agree as that was also the logical thing that he could think of since he was sure that they didnʼt personally know who this monster player was at all.

Seeing that they were acting like that, Shin couldnʼt help but shook his head with a bitter smile. ʼI knew that helping them like that will cause some misunderstanding.ʼ

He released a helpless sigh before saying to them. ”Donʼt worry, I am on your side. I just happen to have some old beef with those guys from the Minotaur Guild. So, I give them a free ride back to their City,” while raising both of his hands in the air.

But he also added in his mind. ʼThough I really intend to steal your monster boss at the very beginning.ʼ

At this point, Camille finally recovered herself and unconsciously blurted out. ”Ah! You are the guy that bartered the skill books that I am selling before!”

When Shin heard that, he waved his hand a little and said. ”Good thing that you still remember me, Miss.”

”So, it turned out that you really are the ʼNameless Swordsmanʼ. But at that time, I really thought that you are a different person when I am trading the skill books with you,” mumble Camille with a soft voice.

Shin didnʼt have much extra time on his plate so he decided to cut off the chase. ”Alright, I need to go back to grinding now. You guys better finish your business now before those guys from Minotaur Guild come back.”

And when the group heard that, their mood suddenly turned back on being solemn while having a bitter look on their faces.

Shin knitted his brows when he looked at them and asked. ”Whatʼs with that look? Those guys are still going to take some time before they get back here. So, you donʼt have to worry much about that.”

When Hodgson heard that, his smile became even more bitter and said. ”That is not our main problem here. What we are concerned about is us being too weak after that fight.”

”We already exhausted most of our main skills, as well as our mana and potions. So, taking down that monster boss might take some time. Whatʼs more, that Bover-B*st*rd use a scroll with double curse on us, which puts us in a very weakened state.”

Reaching this point, Mason suddenly chimed in. ”Given that, we are afraid that it was pretty much impossible for us to take down this monster boss before those guys could return here.”

”Whatʼs more, we are currently trapped in this magic cage. So, escaping here is also another problem for us,” added by Camille.

And immediately after that, the Master Archer beside Camille suddenly said. ”That was not all. Our main purpose here is to make Big Brother a little stronger before the Shadow Ranking Cup can start. But since he used a sacrificial skill, leveling up is going to be even more difficult for him.”

Pointing out these bad news that they had, the mood of the group turned even more solemn and made them to become much more hopeless.

Seeing the dejected mood of the group, the lips behind Shinʼs mask suddenly curved into an evil grin as he said to them. ”What if I tell you that I have a good solution to all of your troubles?”

The ears of each member of the group couldnʼt help but perk up the moment they heard what he had said. They simultaneously turned their heads at Shin as they were waiting for him to continue.

When Shin saw their reactions, the grin that he was wearing curved even more upwards as a bunch of ideas entered his mind. ʼSometimes being lending a helping hand to others is actually not that bad.ʼ
