I Just Want to Cultivate Quietly and Farm

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Fierce Battle in the Forest

Time flew by, and three days passed.

Near Little Liang Mountain, three middle-aged male cultivators with similar appearances were hidden on a hillside, discussing how to ’hunt’.

After two days of investigation and preparation, the Lei Brothers had already gathered intelligence on their target.

”Big Brother, that guy sells spirit talismans every day and has accumulated quite a fortune. Why should we follow Bao’s instructions? If we take him out, we might even gather enough Spirit Stones to buy a Foundation Establishment Pill!” said Third Boss Lei, the youngest, holding a hunting crossbow with a vicious expression.

”Exactly! Big Brother, that guy is only at Qi Refining Seventh Layer. As long as we handle it properly without leaving obvious traces, the Qing Xuan Sect won’t take the time to investigate the death of a servant disciple!” Second Boss Lei agreed.

Boss Lei furrowed his brows, weighing the pros and cons.

”Big Brother, what’s there to think about? That guy is just a servant disciple without any background. Otherwise, why would he be farming in a place where even birds don’t lay eggs? Let’s do it! Once you’ve purchased the Foundation Establishment Pill, you can establish your foundation, and then you can help us do the same. Otherwise, we have no hope in this lifetime!” Third Boss Lei continued to urge.

”Big Brother, let’s do it! We’ve scouted Little Liang Mountain, and it’s clear he lives alone. Bao’s intelligence isn’t accurate. That little guy is all by himself with no family support. If we swiftly get rid of him, no one will know.” Second Boss Lei said eagerly.

”Exactly, with the three of us acting together, we’re certain to succeed, especially since he’s in the open and we’re in the shadows,” Third Boss Lei said, getting more and more excited.

”I can’t stomach earning just a few hundred Lower Spirits. Big Brother, you don’t have to do anything. The two of us can handle it!” Second Boss Lei finally said impatiently.

Being constantly persuaded by his two brothers, Boss Lei was annoyed and responded impatiently, ”Alright, alright, follow the second hunting plan, don’t mess around!”

”Got it!”

Third Boss Lei and Second Boss Lei responded happily and got to work, setting up traps and poisoning the water, sparing no effort.

While the Lei Brothers were busy, they didn’t notice that every move was being watched by a puppet spider hidden in the grass.

In the evening, Li Mu, as usual, wrapped up his stall and flew his sword towards Little Liang Mountain.

However, just as Li Mu was about to land with sword control, he received a warning feedback from the sentry spider puppet, and his heart instantly tightened.

Previously, the sentry spider puppet’s alert had helped him avoid an attack from a Tier Two Demon Bear. This time, Li Mu took the warning seriously and quickly took a Tier Two Golden Armor Talisman from his storage compartment, holding it in his hand, while connecting his Divine Sense to the warning sentry spider puppet.

Soon, the disguised and ambushed Lei Brothers appeared in Li Mu’s mind.

Tribulation Cultivators!

Li Mu’s complexion turned extremely unpleasant.

However, Li Mu felt relieved. Recently, he had been a bit careless; a successful stall business was bound to attract attention.

Fortunately, it was discovered by the sentry spider puppet, otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

”Not good, we’ve been discovered. Go!” Boss Lei saw Li Mu hesitating and immediately signaled.

The next second, Boss Lei rose with sword control and charged at Li Mu.

On command, Third Boss Lei and Second Boss Lei aimed at the ’prey’ and fired the hunting crossbow,

With a unified sound, two sharp crossbow arrows broke through the air towards him.

Li Mu snorted coldly, gathering spiritual power in his hand and activating the Tier Two Golden Armor Talisman, while his Divine Sense locked onto the enemy approaching with sword control. In his hand appeared another spirit talisman - Tier Two Golden Sword Talisman, into which he infused spiritual power.

Golden light shimmered as the Tier Two Golden Armor Talisman transformed into a sphere of golden light, enveloping Li Mu in a golden light shield.

Immediately afterwards, the other Golden Sword Talisman transformed into countless golden spirit lights, instantly condensing into a golden longsword with a long golden trail, like a thunderbolt, sharply shooting towards the enemy.

Boss Lei’s eyes widened as he watched the golden longsword directly pierce through his body, and consciousness plunged into darkness.

There was a crisp sound as the two crossbow arrows struck the golden armor shield and broke off.

On the ground, Second Boss Lei and Third Boss Lei were horrified, witnessing the ’prey’ activate two spirit talismans, one forming a golden light shield around him, blocking two deadly crossbow arrows, and the other condensing into a golden longsword, instantly eliminating their big brother.

The golden longsword pierced through Big Brother’s body and deeply embedded into the ground with a loud boom, scattering shattered trees and stones.

Tier Two Spirit Talisman!

This is the power of a Tier Two Spirit Talisman.

Third Boss Lei and Second Boss Lei looked in disbelief at the ’prey’ flying towards them, finally realizing that the ’little lamb’ prey they saw had now turned into a ’tiger’ ready to pounce back and ’devour’ them!

”Third Brother, run!” Second Boss Lei stood firm, pulling out several flying knife hidden weapons from his waist to fend off the enemy.

”Fight him!” Third Boss Lei said grimly, taking a long knife from his storage bag, charging at the enemy.

”Bang bang...” one after another, flying knives shot at the golden armor light shield, all bouncing off powerlessly.

There was a loud bang as Third Boss Lei’s large knife struck the golden armor shield fiercely, the enormous backlash force causing his grip to rupture and his body to stiffen.

Just then, a sword light flashed across Third Boss Lei’s neck, his head flew high, with a fountain of blood spurting from his headless torso.

From the sudden ascent of his viewpoint, Third Boss Lei ’saw’ the ’prey’ using the rebound force to lunge at his second brother before his consciousness slipped into darkness.

”That guy intentionally let him cut him. Second Brother, it’s over!” The thought emerged in Third Boss Lei’s mind just before he died.

”Third Brother!” Seeing Third Boss Lei’s tragic state, Second Boss Lei shouted with grief and anger, only to meet the enemy’s more advanced sword.

Second Boss Lei managed to hold out for a few moves, but the opponent, protected by the golden light shield, wasn’t afraid to go blow for blow, and soon, he was pierced through the heart with a sword.

In less than ten breaths, the battle was over.

Looking at the enemy with wide-open eyes, dead and unyielding, Li Mu quickly calmed his emotions.

This was a fight where either you die or I perish, Li Mu felt no guilt towards his enemies and bent down to collect the spoils of war.

In the previous world, Li Mu, educated by modern civilization, had never killed a chicken or a duck, let alone a person.

However, in this harsh world, Li Mu had no choice but to fight for his safety. First, he slaughtered Yin Souls, then he borrowed a demon to kill, and this time he quickly counterattacked, personally beheading the enemy, anticipating the enemy’s moves and using Tier Two Spirit Talismans to create a good result.

Li Mu was quickly adapting to this harsh world where strength is respected.

Li Mu worked skilfully, aided by the Innate Divine Power - Recognition of Ten Thousand Spirits, and in less than half an hour, he had collected all the spoils.

As for the bodies of the three, they didn’t require special handling. At night, the mountain beasts, mountain ghosts, and poisonous insects would naturally dispose of their bodies, leaving no bones behind.
