Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1509 - 472_6

.........

”What, the Headquarters actually sent over a Heavenly King Level expert?”

”So fast!”

”It really worked?”

About fifteen kilometers north of the Su Field District of Hekou Village, the more than ten thousand rebel soldiers who had been rushing south suddenly came to a halt.

In the very front row, twenty-four Cold Resistance Level protectors wearing red-faced, fanged ghost masks lifted their heads to look at the Hei Character Heavenly King in midair. After hearing the news he delivered, their pupils shook violently; several of them couldn’t help but cry out in shock.

”Enough, stop babbling. The Lu River Camp has already been breached, there’s no need for you to rush over as reinforcements. Inform the eight Squad Leaders: those who are confident they won’t be traced by the County City can return to their villages; those who are worried about being traced by the County City should flee first. In this uprising, all of you have rendered great merit. The rewards from the Headquarters will be fully distributed in a few days; no one will be shortchanged.”

After Jiang Xinfan finished speaking, he continued, ”As for you twenty-four, immediately head to the Su Field Districts of the villages you were previously responsible for and mess up all the coal stone in the Su Field ravines.”

Hearing this order from Jiang Xinfan, the pupils in the masks of the twenty-four Cold Resistance Level protectors suddenly tightened, and they couldn’t help swallowing hard.

The coal stone in the Su Field ravines burned year-round. To mess them all up clearly meant they were going to set the fields on fire.

”Heavenly King, may I ask, is this an order from the Headquarters?”

”Burning the Su Fields will bring consequences far more serious than rebellion.”

”There are only three Su Fields in all of Chen Cang...”

”Does this Heavenly King’s word no longer count for anything?”

Jiang Xinfan’s voice dropped sharply as he looked at those in the crowd who had raised doubts, cutting them off. He then sneered and said, ”In any case, this Heavenly King has already given the order. Whether you carry it out is your business. When the Headquarters comes down to hold people accountable, don’t say I failed to pass it on.”

”Your subordinate will see it done!”

Four or five protectors had already stepped forward to respond. Clearly, they held a deep fear of the Headquarters, and with Jiang Xinfan’s identity as the Green-faced Heavenly King right in front of them, they naturally had nothing more to say. One after another, they all stepped out to acknowledge the order, then scattered to carry it out.

......

”The uprising ends here, this...”

Leading the two Cold Resistance Level protectors under Liu Wang, Zhang Yuchuan quickly found Hong Xicheng, the Squad Leader of the Qingwu Village branch, and passed on the order just given by the Green-faced Heavenly King. He paid no attention to Hong Xicheng’s shock and terror, simply turned on his heel and left.

After taking a couple of steps, something occurred to Zhang Yuchuan. He turned back and moved close to Hong Xicheng, smiling as he whispered, ”Leader Hong, since you kept people in the village and emptied the warehouses, you must have known long ago this uprising would end like this. You’re a smart man, I don’t need to spell it out. First figure out how to avoid the County City’s investigation, and be careful in the future. With that large hoard of wealth, you can still live quite a decent life. Rest assured, the rewards from the Headquarters won’t be small. Of course, that’s on the condition that you don’t get caught by the County City.”

Hearing this, Hong Xicheng’s face alternated between green and white. He didn’t dare say anything more and turned to the loyal diehards behind him, saying, ”Go back with me first. Bring everyone in the village, don’t leave a single one behind!”

Having said his piece, Zhang Yuchuan didn’t waste any more words. With the two protectors under Liu Wang, he sped forward and quickly arrived at the Su Field District of Qingwu Village.

The three of them busied themselves for a while and soon piled up more than a dozen bundles of straw, spreading them all over the Su Field. Zhang Yuchuan then made three torches and handed one each to the two protectors under Liu Wang.

”This Rice Field took Chen Cang several decades of effort to finally nurture into existence. We’re really going to burn it all down with one fire?”

The protector surnamed Liu took the torch from Zhang Yuchuan, his voice thick with doubt. He hesitated, not daring to toss the torch into the straw pile.

Sizzle sizzle sizzle......

Zhang Yuchuan had no patience for nonsense. He directly extended his torch to ignite the first mound, then quickly moved away, starting fires all around.

Seeing how straightforward he was, the two under Liu Wang exchanged a glance, gritted their teeth, and also began setting fires all over the Su Field.

Because coal stone provided constant warmth in the Su Fields, they weren’t the ice-bound world outside; the temperature here was higher even than in ordinary indoor living spaces. On top of that, it was the end of the harvest season, and there was almost not a drop of water left in the fields.

In such a dry environment, once the flames started, the result was predictable.

Boom......

The blaze suddenly roared up. There were no strong winds in the Su Field District, but precisely those small currents of air gave a terrifying boost to the flames.

As a result, the fire instantly spread out in all directions, and thick smoke surged straight into the sky.

Even worse, within just three or four breaths of the fire breaking out here at Qingwu Village, heavy smoke rose rapidly to the north and south as well.

”Sixteen villages ablaze at once—give it just a few minutes and the fires will merge into one. Those Chen Cang dog officials are going to suffer a huge loss...”

There wasn’t the slightest fear in Zhang Yuchuan’s eyes, only excitement and a deep sense of vindication.

”Chief, shouldn’t we head back to the County City now?”

The two protectors under Liu Wang were looking somewhat uneasy at this point. Watching the flames grow higher and higher, they even asked whether they should return to the County City.

Zhang Yuchuan shook his head and said, ”Lord Heavenly King instructed us earlier to head to Windless Valley first and regroup.”

The two under Liu Wang were taken aback, but quickly realized he didn’t mean everyone was to regroup, only the three of them. They immediately understood.

”Could it be the Little Dragon Head has some other instructions...”

The two muttered inwardly, but still quickly followed behind Zhang Yuchuan, heading toward Windless Valley.

Unlike the other Cold Resistance Level protectors, the two of them and Zhang Yuchuan were all trusted confidants and direct subordinates of the Little Dragon Head. They even knew that the Hei Character Heavenly King, who had newly joined the Yanling Headquarters this year, had also been recruited by the Little Dragon Head.

So it was common that after finishing an assignment, they would gather privately again.

Sometimes it was to carry out the Little Dragon Head’s orders, sometimes for other matters.

Of course, there were also times when some extra benefits were being handed out!

Thinking of this, the two of them suddenly felt their blood heat up.

They’d pulled off something this big this time; the Little Dragon Head ought to reward them with quite a lot of good stuff.
