Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 718: Chapter 294: Empty-Handed, Slow on the Uptake (Part 3)

The Cloud Dragon Army also has quite a presence, but compared to the three thousand troops from Longyou before us, there is still a significant gap.

”We cannot confront them head-on. Even for me, once surrounded by these three thousand men, even if not dead, I would still be severely injured. After being a hegemon for over forty years, Long Mountain’s resources truly make one envious...”

Xia Hong wore a solemn expression, and just then, Li Xuanling spoke up again.

This time, her voice clearly carried a tone of threat.

”Xia Hong, Wushuang has no barriers; breaking the surrounding boulders is easy for us. You have only four thousand people in your camp, it is impossible to fend off my three thousand Longyou Army. I offer you one last chance: the terms I proposed earlier are still valid if you agree now.”

Li Xuanling, are you planning to persuade Great Xia to withdraw from Longyou with mere words?

After repeated persuasion, a strange look appeared in Xia Hong’s eyes.

But soon, he understood Li Xuanling’s intentions, his expression slightly tense.

”This woman is not foolish!”

Li Xuanling must be aware of the hidden danger of the White Dew Gu and doesn’t want to expend too much vital force on Great Xia, hence her repeated attempts to resolve the matter without bloodshed so that Great Xia would exit Longyou.

Too bad!

In this world, nothing comes so easy.

”Li Xuanling, I’m curious to see how your three thousand Longyou Army plan to breach Wushuang Camp. I...”

Whoosh...

Before Xia Hong could finish speaking, he suddenly furrowed his brows and retreated abruptly.

A terrifying silver blade sliced through dozens of meters of snow from the northern sky, slashing fiercely towards him.

Bang!

The blade struck the spot where Xia Hong had stood, cleaving the earth open with a groove half a meter wide and three to four meters long, sending snow fog soaring over ten meters high.

Xia Hong had already retreated over ten meters away, and Xia Chuan along with other Cold Resistance Level warriors followed suit.

”Stop wasting breath, Wushuang Camp was emptied long ago. Great Xia’s troops are retreating via secret paths towards Beehive. He is purposefully stalling for time!”

Within the snow fog, an urgent and elderly voice rang out.

Li Tiancheng, clothed in white and with hair like silver threads, broke through the snow fog and pursued Xia Hong yet again.

The Cold Resistance Level warriors from Long Mountain all froze, yet to react to the news revealed by Li Tiancheng.

”Advance troops, attack!”

Li Xuanling commanded sharply, her tone clearly carrying a hint of rage.

They had all been deceived!

Xia Hong never intended to fight at Wushuang against Long Mountain, instead he retreated everyone!

”The three thousand Longyou Army traveled far, they cannot return empty-handed. Let Wushuang be under your management for a few days; I take my leave!”

Like Li Xuanling and Hou Hu, Li Tiancheng’s strength had also increased considerably, but stopping Xia Hong was evidently not possible.

While entangled with him, Xia Hong created opportunities for escape for Xia Chuan and others. Turning to those yet to catch up, he laughed aloud at Li Xuanling and others and then fled swiftly towards the east.

”Conniving with a tiger will have bad outcomes. Li Xuanling, heed these six words: those who play with fire will get burned.”

Li Xuanling had already reached above the giant rocks on the western side of Wushuang Camp, gazing at Xia Hong’s retreating figure, her willow-leaf brows trembled slightly with anger, her face full of wrath.

Bang!

Li Xuanyan led a group to break through the western rock wall, and the massive Longyou Army flooded through the gap, looking at the vacant Wushuang Camp, filled with fury with no outlet.

”Thief, Xia Hong the thief, we’ve all been deceived, all been deceived.”

Li Xuanling was exceedingly furious, immediately casting her gaze towards Li Xuanping, Li Xuanqiu, Cheng Guang, and Meng Ying, the four responsible for scouting enemy positions.

These four had confidently assured during their recent regrouping that no one had entered or exited Wushuang, particularly Li Xuanping and Li Xuanqiu, who had declared that reinforcements from Beehive and Hanqiong were bound for Wushuang.

If not for this intel, she wouldn’t have been so sure that Great Xia would staunchly defend Wushuang.

The four realized their mistake, looking rather flustered, not daring to meet Li Xuanling’s eyes.

”Leader, shall we pursue directly? They have four thousand retreating towards Beehive, their marching speed must be slower than ours, we should be able to catch up.”

Upon hearing Song Kang’s words, Li Xuanling’s face grew even angrier, she rebuked: ”Do you know exactly how many there are? How far they have fled? Or if they have indeed retreated to Beehive?

We’ve already traveled four hours; with continued pursuit, what if they set an ambush midway? Not even understanding how to act as a scout, embarrassed to this point, and still thinking to pursue, stay put here and rest!”

Li Xuanling looked down at the three thousand Longyou Army soldiers below, more than half were frozen in place, their morale completely deflated since reaching Wushuang, her expression turning ever gloomier.

”Deliberately feigning defense of Wushuang to weaken our morale, Xia Hong, what a cunning thief, Great Xia has only three strongholds in Longyou; I want to see where you retreat next!”
