Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 502: Chapter 226: Beehive Incident, Lin Ye Is Dead_2

The Hive Station is underground, with a total of twenty-seven channels. Only No.1 Channel leads to the main area. Normally, you enter through a certain numbered channel and must follow the sequence from largest to smallest before reaching No.1 Channel to access the main area.

For instance, if you enter through No.9 and want to reach No.1 Channel, you need to pass through No.8 to No.2 Channels in sequence; missing one will prevent you from reaching No.1.

This was part of the protective design for the main area when the Hive Station was originally built. However, during the initial design, due to concerns about unforeseen circumstances in the future, a contingency plan was included.

The contingency involves channels No.7, No.11, No.18, and No.21, which actually intersect with No.1 Channel underground.

As long as the intersections are cleared, you can rush to No.1 Channel and then proceed to the main area in the fastest possible time.

The initial purpose of this design was concern over unexpected incidents in the underground space, such as encounters with powerful Cold Beasts or other major disasters, so people could be evacuated quickly through these channels, allowing them to escape to the surface as fast as possible.

However, now it has become a convenient route for Zhaoyang’s attack on the Hive Station.

”There’s a traitor, but it’s too late to deal with that now!”

Fewer than ten people in the entire Camp know about these four channels. If there was time to investigate, finding the traitor would not be difficult. But with Zhaoyang’s forces already at the door, there’s no time for that.

Thinking about the traitor, Chen Yingba looked furious, but he quickly composed himself, pondering the next moves.

”No.21 Channel has already fallen, and channels No.7, No.11, and No.18 have been breached too. Zhaoyang’s large force is about to enter No.1 Channel and attack this side of the main area.

The advantage is that our people are more familiar with the channel layout. Setting up signal fires, changing the channel number plates, coupled with my ambushes inside the channels, have not only seriously injured Lin Ye but also killed many of Zhaoyang’s people; the only question is how many more are coming!”

This is the advantage of building the Hive Station underground.

No matter how many Zhaoyang sends, they can only advance through the channels.

Moreover, due to the narrowness of the passageways, archery is impractical. Zhaoyang’s few Cold Resistance Level fighters initially didn’t understand the channel layout and were wary of causing collapses, so they didn’t dare to use full force.

But it’s different for our people, who know all the details of the channel layout inside-out, such as ventilation points, which parts are sturdy, and which are fragile, thus reaping the full advantage of the terrain.

Unfortunately, despite reaping the full advantage, we only managed to delay them for two days.

”Based on the reports received and my own efforts, I’ve likely killed over three hundred from Zhaoyang, all Earth-digging Realm. Our own losses are at most just over a hundred. The main area still has over six hundred Earth-digging Realm and more than three thousand Logging Realm. With the iron gate and the terrain advantage of the main area, if Zhaoyang hasn’t sent too many, there’s hope we can hold, and moreover...”

Chen Yingba looked back toward the position of No.11 Channel on the west side, a hopeful expression in his eyes.

”Lin Ye has been seriously injured. As long as Old Wu can kill him, Zhaoyang will only have three Cold Resistance Levels left. Along with Old Wu and over three thousand others, the chances of holding them off by lying in wait are significant; as long as we can hold out until Big Brother returns, this crisis will be overcome!”

Previously, when hiding in the shadows of No.11 Channel, he discovered Lin Ye was injured and knew without guessing it was Wu Tianxing’s doing. He had delivered a follow-up blow, and if not for Hou Ming’s appearance, he would have killed Lin Ye.

With Lin Ye severely injured, Wu Tianxing should still be in the channel and, barring accidents, should be able to kill him.

Rendering one less Cold Resistance Level would stabilize the situation greatly tonight.

”Chen Yingba, where do you think you’re going? Stop right there!”

A furious shout came from behind; Chen Yingba’s body trembled, not daring to hesitate for a moment. He madly dashed toward the iron gate of the main area, shouting angrily at those behind the gate as he ran:

”Close the gate, hurry up and close the gate!”

The people behind the iron gate heard the shout and immediately began to move.

Two thick iron chains were connected to the top of the large iron gate, each pulled by a hundred people. Hearing Chen Yingba’s shout, all of them began pulling back with all their might.

Scrape...

As the iron chains slowly moved, the originally three-meter-high iron gate began to rise gradually, soon enough to seal the channel.

”The second leader and the others haven’t come back yet. Leader, should we close it now?”

Upon hearing the voice from behind the iron gate, Chen Yingba frowned; the others could wait, but Wu Tianxing couldn’t afford not to return.

”Leave a gap, don’t close it all the way!”

While giving the order, Chen Yingba also led people through the gap in the iron gate into the main area, where everyone set up longbows aimed at the final one-meter gap in the iron gate.

Bam...

A large knife slashed in from outside the gap, with the fierce wind swept from the blade forcing all the Earth-digging Realm near the iron gate to stagger back continuously.

The power of this strike was evidently considerable.

Yet, even so, the silver-bladed knife only managed to cut half a centimeter into the iron gate; the blade was even bent.

”Are the bows in your hands just ornaments? Fire!”

Chen Yingba roared angrily; all three thousand people behind the iron gate immediately released their bowstrings, which had been taut for a long time.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

Wave after wave of iron arrows rained down like a storm, shooting accurately towards the person behind the gap.

”Hmph!”

The person behind the iron gate snorted coldly, choosing neither to dodge nor evade the dense rain of arrows, and instead attempted to squeeze through the gap in the midst of the arrow storm.

”Hou Ming, face your death!”

Unfortunately, as soon as he poked out half his head, he felt a fierce blade flash, his neck slightly cool. He immediately recoiled.
