Divine Monarch: Specifically, how many Soul Fragments does it take to max out 1 Skill Level.

Xing Shi: For Professional Skills, 1 fragment for Levels 1–3, 2 fragments for Levels 4–6, 3 fragments for Levels 7–9, and 4 fragments for Level 10. In total you need 22 Soul Fragments.

Xing Shi: That’s the consumption for Legendary Level; Hero Level costs a bit less. After all, Hero Level Skills are all Basic Two-star. Even though you can use an Advancement Card to raise the Star Level, the actual strength isn’t that high, so the consumption will also be a bit lower.

Xing Shi: Universal Skills are purely based on Tier. Three-star takes 10 Soul Fragments, Four-star 22 Soul Fragments, Five-star 55 Soul Fragments to max.

Xing Shi: Why are you asking me this?

Xing Shi: Don’t tell me... your Professional Level actually isn’t Legendary Level?

Divine Monarch: It is Legendary Level, but... relatively speaking it might be a bit special.

Xing Shi: Makes sense. Your Basic Attributes are already that insane, so it’s completely normal for your Profession to be a bit special. If it were a Divine Profession, I’m guessing the teachers would’ve already dragged you off as a national treasure for research.

Xing Shi: Is the upgrade cost huge?

Divine Monarch: After the Level goes up to 11, the Soul Fragment consumption becomes 2.

Xing Shi: !

Xing Shi: So maxing out costs 55 Soul Fragments?

Xing Shi: That’s 2.5 times a Legendary Level?

Xing Shi: You’ve got a Five-star Skill? No wonder...

Divine Monarch: That’s how it is. I need a massive amount of resources right now, and what I can trade points for is nowhere near enough.

Xing Shi: Hold up, I’m gonna go flip through the school rules.

Divine Monarch: ?

....

So it really is because of the Profession!

Is the Doomsday Tyrant Profession strong?

This Profession is insanely strong. Whether it’s Skill strength or Basic Attributes, they’re all ridiculously high. On top of that, with a permanent Tyrant Form, it has even higher numbers than a Divine Profession.

But...

There are side effects to having such a powerful Profession. The stronger the Profession, the more resources it takes to raise its Skill Level, because its foundation is simply too strong; you can’t even compare its consumption to those weak Professions.

I thought Tier Two would already be strong enough. Never expected I’d still be part of the disadvantaged group.

The good news, though, is that the Soul Fragment consumption for Universal Skills isn’t as bad as I imagined.

But...

The number of Soul Fragments needed to raise a Specialty Level is downright terrifying. Before officially reaching Tier Two, Ye Mingqiu had already heard a bit about this.

They say Technique Powerhouses are broke as hell, and the main reason is that Technique Abilities eat up a huge amount of Soul Fragments.

How huge?

Maxing to Level 20 takes 210 Soul Fragments!

Looking at his twelve Skills all crying to be fed, Ye Mingqiu suddenly felt an enormous pressure, like a mountain pressing down on his chest.

Also...

There’s a saying in the mortal world: the most profitable methods are all written into the criminal code. It’s pretty much the same for Spiritualists; the most profitable ways to get resources are all written into the explicitly forbidden school rules.

However, Ye Mingqiu’s strength is special, so maybe he can break some of those explicitly forbidden conditions. That’s why Xing Shi figured she could go check the school rules and see if they could somehow scrounge up more resources, and she could conveniently get a cut as well.

”Sigh!”

With a sigh, Ye Mingqiu turned to look at Tang Ruobing and asked, ”Right, didn’t you say before that you had twelve Abilities? Do those Abilities... need Soul Fragments to upgrade?”

”No.”

”Oh.”

Ye Mingqiu felt a bit disappointed. If those twelve Abilities all needed Soul Fragments to upgrade, he’d actually be really happy, because high resource consumption means high Skill strength. This was a genuine prayer.

Generally, any Skill that can burn through massive resources won’t be weak in the late game. If it’s weak, that’s only in the early stages. No matter what Ability it is, as long as the numbers stack up, the final Effect will definitely be brutal.

”But...”

Tang Ruobing’s expression turned slightly sad. She looked at her own hand and said, ”The amount of Soul Fragments needed to upgrade my Professional Skills... is 2.5 times that of a normal Legendary Level Profession. You’ve probably noticed that already, right?”

”Yeah, we’re way too poor.”

Ye Mingqiu sighed.

The only consolation is that even though their Professional Skills cost 2.5 times what a normal Legendary Level Profession does, twenty-five Legendary Level Spiritualists of the same level put together still couldn’t beat them.

”Ding!”

A crisp Spirit Realm notification sound rang out.

Short-tailed Cat: Advancing to Legendary should be no problem, right? Don’t embarrass our group! Go get ’em!

Lu: Should be fine. My accumulation is actually pretty solid, plus there’s the team buff that further boosts my Body Basic Potential. Add in the Advancement resources I’ve been saving up for a long time, and it shouldn’t be an issue.

Lu: If it were just about Advancing, I already hit the cap requirement a long time ago. I just kept feeling that my Legendary wasn’t stable enough and that I needed an extra breakthrough opportunity, so I held off until now to Advance.
