Chapter 140: Chapter 117: Beast King’s Teaching! Momentum! (Part 2)

But...

The Old Beast Monarch smiled, letting go of the giant sword, and then punched hard at Ye Mingqiu’s chest, making his wide eyes bulge and tremble in dry heaves.

”I understand your urgency, but battle is not child’s play; you can’t just focus on your opponent’s weapon. You must consider what techniques they might use besides their weapon. Foreign powerhouses are different from our Beast Race; they will use unexpected skills in battle, then kill our people.”

The Old Beast Monarch released his grip and looked down at Ye Mingqiu, who had been struck at a critical point.

Next, what Beast God Continent will face will not be internal beastmen but powerhouses from beyond the continent, so he felt it necessary to teach the new Beast King how to counter foreign invaders.

He continued, ”Years ago, I saw a human dominator wearing a white magic robe and holding a wooden magic staff. We met on a narrow path.”

”I thought he would use magic, but he sprinted to me at the fastest speed and swung a sharp sword at me. That sword... almost slashed my eye. After defeating him, I realized he was not a mage but a sword master disguised as a mage.”

Ye Mingqiu stood up again, his gaze extremely calm, without a word, and directly struck at the Beast King with his blood spear.

The Beast King blocked it casually.

And then...

”Clang!!”

A terrifying sound crackled, and the Old Beast Monarch immediately felt an irresistible force coming from the giant sword. In an instant, his expression changed dramatically.

Are you kidding?!

This is the mystical technique I’ve researched for decades!

You learned it in just a few moves?

”How did you do that?”

The Old Beast Monarch asked incredulously.

”I just felt I should cut like this.” Ye Mingqiu answered honestly.

In the next moment, the Old Beast Monarch deflected his attack with skill, launching a rain of offensives again, forcing Ye Mingqiu into continuous retreat, unable to resist.

He forced back the new Beast King with a sword and said, ”Don’t use brute force. In battle, feel your momentum when wielding a weapon, apply the momentum, and integrate it into your attack.”

”Momentum? What’s that?”

Ye Mingqiu could understand, but not entirely. This kind of mysterious concept was hard for him to grasp. He only knew how to fight by instinct. He tried to use the momentum he had just displayed, but couldn’t replicate that kind of attack.

It felt like a sudden inspiration, an urge that he should just do it that way, and so he swung his weapon, delivering a strike infused with momentum.

But this was just a coincidence, not a real understanding of the meaning of momentum.

”Don’t rush, try to savor the feeling of using momentum.” The Old Beast Monarch said.

”Okay.”

Ye Mingqiu sat down, closed his eyes to recall the sensation of restraining the Old Beast Monarch with one spear. The feeling of using momentum was wonderful, indescribable, only that when using his weapon, it was like some special power was assisting him silently.

Ten minutes passed, and he still had no clue, so he opened the Spirit Realm friend interface, chose Tang Ruobing, and tried to get some external assistance.

Divine Monarch: Curiously asking, what is momentum?

Broken Star: ?

Broken Star: Where did you hear about it?

Divine Monarch: The Old Beast Monarch told me, every one of his attacks has this strange enhancement, very hard to fight, I can’t overcome the suppression attribute.

Broken Star: Huh?

Broken Star: Are you kidding? A Beast King from a Level 4 World can control momentum? What’s his level?

Divine Monarch: Level 5 Dominator.

Broken Star: ....but still, that’s not right.

Tang Ruobing sat in the rest area, brows furrowed, looking at the information. She felt she might have underestimated the strength of dominators and legendary-level beings.

In normal circumstances, momentum is only something you might encounter at Level 10. Only a few Level 10 Hero Level spiritualists could access the domain of momentum, and that Old Beast Monarch, he mastered it at Level 5, it’s unbelievable!

Can a dominator be so overwhelmingly strong?

That doesn’t seem right, does it?

Divine Monarch: This thing seems quite powerful. I inadvertently used it once and then couldn’t find the feeling again. I can’t recall it, do you know what to do? How do you train this thing?

Broken Star: This is something only a Level 10 spiritualist might grasp, you’re only Level 2, finding it uncontrollable is normal. Training momentum requires mastering combat skills to the extreme, meaning elevating a specialty to Level 10.

Broken Star: I can’t understand, how did you use momentum?

Divine Monarch: Just, by feeling.

Broken Star: ....that’s absurd. The probability of you deploying momentum by feeling is like guessing the answers to advanced mathematics application problems by intuition.

Broken Star: Regarding momentum, I don’t have any training methods for below Level 10, looking for others won’t help either, all training of momentum is based on Level 10 specialty, before that, it’s simply impossible to master.

Divine Monarch: Alright.

Regarding the chat box, Ye Mingqiu felt a bit gloomy. Now, he roughly understood why he always felt off when mastering momentum. Without a Level 10 specialty, mastering momentum felt akin to solving a physics problem without formulas, completely unanswerable.

However, if that’s the case, then it means the Old Beast Monarch very likely already has a Level 10 specialty. This Old Beast Monarch is also above the mark.

”So, how’s it going? Did you feel anything?”

The Old Beast Monarch came closer, asking with concern.

”No, I don’t feel anything, it seems like something crucial is missing.” Ye Mingqiu responded.

”That’s perfectly normal, after all, this is the fruit of my hundreds of battles and honing my skills for decades, it’s impossible for you to grasp these insights so shortly, that’s more reasonable.” The Old Beast Monarch slowly revealed a smile.

[Tip: Your Long Weapon Specialty Level has increased to Level 5]

”However, I feel like my skill level seems to have improved a bit.” Ye Mingqiu replied.

Training under a Level 5 Dominator is indeed formidable; it took just a while to improve the specialty level. If he trains more, maybe he can elevate the specialty level further.

Then, new combat guidance unfolded. Although the Old Beast Monarch was shocked, he didn’t hold anything back, sharing everything he had about momentum control and understanding.

Unfortunately, the teaching space on momentum that the Old Beast Monarch offered was vast, greatly promising for the future. Even though he laid it all out, Ye Mingqiu still couldn’t comprehend anything.

Of course, this might be because he didn’t have his specialty level raised to Level 10, so there was a lot he didn’t understand. Primarily, if he could raise his specialty to Level 10, maybe he would understand everything.

....

Five hours later

The Old Beast Monarch’s one-on-one training ended, and Ye Mingqiu felt he gained a lot; the one-on-one training with a Level 5 Dominator powerhouse was indeed beneficial. He could feel a change in his understanding of many techniques.

The Long Weapon Specialty Level didn’t increase, not due to insufficient gains but because the higher the specialty level, the more accumulated experience and knowledge required for advancement, making it more difficult to improve.

”King of Ten Thousand Beasts, I’m very curious, how did you hone your power to this extent? Aren’t beastmen supposed to become stronger with battle experience? You haven’t fought in decades, right?” Ye Mingqiu asked with great curiosity.

”Actually, I often cross borders, disguising as an ordinary human powerhouse to challenge other powerhouses, slaying giant dragons. Over the years, piece by piece... I’ve killed about twenty to thirty powerhouses of the same level as me.” The Old Beast Monarch said while recalling.

”Twenty... twenty to thirty?”

”Yes, it’s top-secret information, but since a new war is about to begin, hiding it is meaningless. I hope other continents will send more dominator powerhouses, my sword hasn’t tasted blood in a long time.” The Old Beast Monarch smiled with confidence and arrogance, a pride unique to kings.

”I hope so.”

Ye Mingqiu also smiled, seemingly seeing the future victory of the Beast Race. But... he doubted whether the Old Beast Monarch had truly avoided discovery by foreign powerhouses.

Better to prepare for the worst-case scenario first!
