Forced to Sell Myself to the Female Lead After Killing the Male Lead

”Please, I seriously don’t like that damn stallion emperor at all. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

After pulling Miss Yumo onto the balcony,

Mengxi immediately met those beautiful azure eyes filled with confusion and, without the slightest hesitation, stressed her point.

Having long since become deeply familiar with Yumo’s way of thinking, the moment Mengxi saw her tightly furrowed brows, peculiar expression, slightly stiff body, and felt the girl’s hand unconsciously gripping hers tighter and tighter, she had already more or less guessed what was going through Yumo’s mind.

As a result,

the Child of Destiny couldn’t help revealing an utterly speechless expression.

Don’t... don’t tell me Sister Yumo actually thinks... I dragged her out here because I’m jealous of Xue Tianao?

Damn it.

As if I’d ever get jealous over that bastard!

Sister Yumo, honestly, your imagination...

You’re way too clever for your own good sometimes...

Sigh...

Forget it.

If Sister Yumo weren’t like this, she never would’ve been so easily fooled by me in the first place...

Letting out a helpless sigh inwardly, Mengxi immediately began explaining, making it perfectly clear that she had absolutely no feelings whatsoever toward Xue Tianao. No matter what, she didn’t want Yumo to think she was interested in him. She didn’t want her to misunderstand.

That was why she hurriedly cleared everything up.

After hearing Mengxi’s declaration, Miss Yumo naturally froze in place, blinking those beautiful azure eyes in utter confusion.

Only after a long moment

did she slowly raise a hand to cover her lips in astonishment.

”Y-You... what you just said...”

”Hm?”

Seeing that a trace of unease and suspicion still lingered in Yumo’s eyes, Mengxi let out another helpless sigh. Then she put on an incomparably solemn expression and looked seriously at the black-haired girl before her.

”Fine. Then let me say it one more time. I have absolutely no interest in that narcissistic, attention-seeking, perverted, womanizing freak Xue Tianao! Not only am I not interested—I hate him!”

”Y-You... hate him?”

”That’s right! I hate him! I hate him! I really hate him!!!”

Mengxi emphasized loudly.

However,

after that emphatic triple declaration,

the unease and suspicion in Yumo’s eyes finally seemed to disappear. The black-haired girl gradually calmed down, standing there thoughtfully.

Meanwhile, after venting like that, Mengxi herself calmed down a little as well.

She raised a hand and firmly pressed it against her temple.

A hint of confusion surfaced within her own heart.

She merely misunderstood things a little...

Why was I in such a hurry to explain myself...?

Was it because I hated people thinking I had something going on with Xue Tianao? Or...

Sigh...

In the end,

Mengxi composed herself, her anxious expression disappearing as she once again wore that beautiful smile beloved by everyone.

”So stop imagining impossible things. I didn’t pull you out here because I was jealous.”

Even if I was jealous...

...it definitely wouldn’t be because of that beast Xue Tianao.

Mengxi silently added in her heart.

Still,

jealousy wasn’t the only issue.

There was also her safety.

And another problem that was even more serious...

Thinking of that, the way Mengxi looked at Yumo unconsciously became more complicated.

Dozens of minutes earlier, ever since Yumo had entered the banquet hall under the identity of the Black Rose Family’s young lady, Mengxi’s attention had almost never left her.

She had been wondering how she should approach Yumo and strike up a conversation under this new identity.

However,

while she was still considering the matter,

something extremely serious suddenly happened.

That damned stallion Xue Tianao had walked right up to Sister Yumo.

The obvious interest and greed in his lecherous eyes were something Mengxi saw through almost instantly.

That bastard... he’s planning to make a move on Sister Yumo!

The instant that conclusion formed in her mind, Mengxi clenched both fists tightly.

She even had the impulse to rush over and stop him immediately.

After all, Sister Yumo was so pure and kind. Such an adorable little bunny—if she ran into a seasoned womanizer like Xue Tianao, wouldn’t she be completely eaten alive?

The mere thought of her precious Sister Yumo being seduced away by Xue Tianao,

imagining Yumo leaning against his embrace,

was enough to send Mengxi’s blood pressure soaring.

In a sense, if she didn’t want her heart to explode, she absolutely had to find a way to separate Sister Yumo from Xue Tianao.

However,

before she could come up with an appropriate solution,

Mengxi was stunned to discover

a faint trace of killing intent appearing within Sister Yumo’s azure eyes.

Although it was hidden extremely well, to someone like Mengxi, who had spent nearly every day glued to Yumo’s side recently, it was impossible to miss.

?!!

At that instant,

Mengxi completely lost her composure.

Although she had no idea why Sister Yumo had suddenly revealed such dangerous emotions, she knew without question that the situation was becoming very bad.

Mengxi honestly didn’t care if Yumo showed killing intent toward Xue Tianao.

Even if she killed him,

Mengxi would probably applaud in delight.

But...

right now,

Sister Yumo absolutely couldn’t do that.

This wasn’t the Great Winter Forest!

Not to mention that Xue Tianao was now incredibly powerful and possessed countless trump cards—even if Sister Yumo attacked, there was no guarantee she could actually kill him.

And the moment she made her move, her disguise would inevitably be exposed.

At that point, the people she’d have to face wouldn’t just be Xue Tianao.

She would have to confront countless terrifying experts throughout the Imperial Capital—

the Snow Night Empire’s Grand General, the revered masters of the Holy Tower, even White Yama from Mengxi’s own side...

Sister Yumo was undeniably strong.

But against so many powerful opponents,

especially while fighting on their home ground,

her chances of survival would still be slim.

Mengxi absolutely didn’t want anything to happen to her Sister Yumo.

So, in that moment of desperation,

the instant Yumo clenched her fists,

Mengxi stepped forward directly under everyone’s astonished gazes.

Without another word, she rushed over, grabbed Sister Yumo’s hand, and pulled her away.

At that time,

Mengxi simply didn’t have the luxury of worrying about what the spectators might think.

At most,

she could only cast apologetic glances toward White Yama behind her and the Archbishop standing not far away.

But,

no matter what,

it seemed she had successfully resolved the crisis.

Looking at Sister Yumo now, seeing that the killing intent and impulsiveness had completely vanished from her eyes, Mengxi finally let out a long sigh of relief.

Just then,

Yumo’s hesitant voice softly reached her ears.

”Um... Miss Mengxi... your hand?”

”Hm?”

Hearing that, Mengxi lowered her head and looked at their hands, still tightly clasped together.

After staring blankly for a moment, she revealed a somewhat lonely smile.

Right...

The current me and Miss Yu don’t know each other.

Holding the hand of someone I’ve supposedly just met really is rather impolite.

Sigh...

So...

Sister Yumo? You’re pretending not to know me? Acting as though this is our first meeting?

Looking at the black-haired girl before her, whose face was full of confusion and obvious caution, Mengxi could only sigh helplessly inwardly.

Fine.

If Sister Yumo wants to pretend, then I’ll play along~

Who’s making me so considerate?

Thinking that, Mengxi deliberately put on an expression of sudden realization.

Deep apology filled her light-purple eyes.

”I-I’m sorry. That was terribly rude of me. Please forgive me, Miss Yu...”

As she spoke,

Mengxi reluctantly released Yumo’s hand.

Then she quietly clenched her own fist, savoring the lingering warmth left in her palm.

The corners of her lips unconsciously curved upward.

After Mengxi let go,

Yumo looked at the silver-haired girl with puzzled eyes.

”It’s alright, Miss Mengxi. But... what happened? Why did you suddenly grab my hand and bring me here? Wouldn’t doing something like this be rather disrespectful toward the Snow Night Empire...?”

”Ah, that? It’s nothing important.”

Mengxi waved her hand dismissively.

”Besides, I pulled you out here for your own good.”

”H-Huh? F-For my own good?”

”That’s right.”

Taking a deep breath,

Mengxi nodded with exceptional seriousness.

Then the silver-haired girl wore an incomparably solemn expression as she placed both hands firmly upon Yumo’s exposed, fragrant shoulders.

”Yes. It was for your own good. That emperor is absolutely not a good person! For your own safety, you absolutely, absolutely, absolutely must not get close to Xue Tianao!”

Yumo: Hm??
