Chapter 1605

The laws in this world are really troublesome.

Unlike the Great Chu Dynasty, where whoever is the Crown Prince inherits, and if you’re not, you don’t.

In this world, as long as there’s a legally recognized familial relationship, the rights and obligations are exactly the same.

Really a headache.

Of course, what troubles him even more are the issues of company management and operation.

Everything here is different from the Great Chu Dynasty.

Personnel can freely resign, both parties in a contract have the right to terminate it at any time, clients can choose their partners at will, and people can freely choose the work they love.

From a legal perspective, people here are much freer, and everyone is equal.

Even if you’re an official, or however wealthy you are, you’re the same in terms of social rights and responsibilities.

No one is superior to others.

Similarly.

In the group, if you don’t have the ability, you won’t have much support.

Even if you forcefully hold the majority of the company’s shares due to family connections.

You’re merely a shareholder, without management rights, and your words carry no weight.

This is obviously not what he wants.

In his past life, it was the empire, in this life, it’s the group.

Anything that belonged to Zhao Junyao has never been handed over to others.

Moreover, it’s his father’s wish, so he should go all out to fulfill it!

It’s not easy to acquire management rights and become a rightful chairman; at least your capability needs to be recognized by the shareholders’ meeting.

Even though he was an Emperor in his past life, and his governance and personnel methods were extraordinarily adept.

But the systems and laws in this life and the previous are vastly different.

It’s like asking a bird that flies in the sky to swim in the sea.

His past methods and ways are all useless here.

Everything has to be learned anew, and you never know when you’ll make a mistake, possibly even a fatal one.

Thus, he has to learn desperately.

…

On Zhao Junqi’s side.

Though demoted to work at a subsidiary, this doesn’t affect his steps to plan for the future.

In fact, he’s working harder than before.

Unable to reach Xu Corporation’s contacts via email, he switches to the phone.

In the presidential suite.

Lady Xu is organizing materials retrieved from the police station, preparing to find her daughter’s whereabouts when the phone rings again.

The caller ID boldly shows it’s local, and… she recognizes it’s Zhao Junqi’s.

“This person!”

She frowned, momentarily at a loss for words.

“Mom, I just want to know, how did this person get your private phone number and private email!”

Xu Wanning calmly smiled at her son.

“There’s a lot you don’t know!” Xu Jingyu said, feeling annoyed.

“Nothing surprises mom anymore, there are many more such tactics, I’ve seen plenty!” While speaking, she already hung up the phone, not intending to answer.

“But what do they ultimately want?”

Xu Wanning raised an eyebrow.

“We’re here for cooperation, also to discuss investment!”

“For businesspeople, securing a deal represents capability, which is very needed in the workplace!”

Xu Jingyu no longer spoke.

Since business management isn’t his specialty, and he’s not skilled in it, he makes no further inquiries.

He turned, grabbed a bottle of drink, and sat on the sofa, starting to help his mother go through the materials.

Both hoped for nothing else, just to find the person they needed quickly.

…

Over the next month, Zhao Junyao didn’t go anywhere, only learning business management from Xia Yu.

He’s very smart.

Combining his knowledge of law with social systems, he quickly comprehends many things.

Xia Yu was simply gratified, praising him to Zhao Zongqing more than once. Sometimes, he praised so much that Old Master Zhao felt embarrassed.

If Xia Yu weren’t usually so meticulous, he wouldn’t believe it.

That day, as usual, when the two met at the company, Xia Yu praised him again.

“You don’t know, that child Ah Yao is too smart!”

“I even suspect that he has already regained his memories!”

“Claiming he can’t recall the past, might be a lie!”

True or false, the old man was happy nonetheless.

“Hearing you say this, I can be at ease with next year’s shareholders’ re-election!”

“Otherwise, I would’ve really been anxious!”

Though everyone knows he has only one biological son, and Zhao Group only has one rightful heir.

But unfortunately, the law doesn’t allow it!

Even though Zhao Junqi is not biological, he still called him dad for so many years.

Moreover, his household registration has been moved here; he has inheritance rights!

Of course, it’s merely an inheritance right.

Now the shares in his hands are still his; he has the freedom to gift them to anyone; no one else can intervene.

In other words, he can freely gift all shares to his son.

There’s no suspense regarding the shares; now it’s just the shareholders’ meeting left.

The shareholders’ meeting holds the power to elect and appoint the chairman.

If Ah Yao lacks capability and isn’t elected as chairman, he can only hold his inherited shares as a shareholder.

The company’s chairman would fall into someone else’s hands.

This is clearly not what he wants to see.

The plan he envisions for his son is… to be both the company’s largest shareholder and the rightful chairman.

Zhao Zongqing sighed.

“Let’s leave it at that!”

“Hope Ah Yao’s election goes smoothly next year!”

Xia Yu, full of confidence.

“It definitely will!”

“I’ve been in the company for half a lifetime, with a sharp eye for people, so rest assured!”

Zhao Zongqing’s expression returned to happiness.

“That’s good!”

“Now I can be relieved!”

Their conversation moved to other topics, discussing Zhao Junyao’s wedding plans, before they each departed.

…

Winter was halfway through in the blink of an eye.

After being busy for over a month, Zhao Junyao finally eased up.

Watching the fluttering snowflakes outside the window, he thought of Xia Ruqing again.

“It’s the second snowfall, I wonder if she’s well, what kind of life she’s living!”

Despite being apart for so long, his longing hasn’t diminished with time.

On the contrary, it increases daily, leaving him tormented, almost unable to bear it.

“It’s time, isn’t it!” he murmured to himself.

‘Yes, now is the time, go see her, do it now, don’t hesitate!’

A hurried voice echoed in his mind, and Zhao Junyao was surprised.

Without thinking further, he instinctively took a step.

As if driven by irresistible forces, he went to the underground garage to fetch the car, and then called for his assistant and driver to follow.

Due to unfamiliarity with machines in this world, he never dared to learn to drive by himself.

Indeed, despite his skilled horseback riding and archery, he cowered before this large iron box.

This is something he really doesn’t want to admit.

…

The driver and assistant quickly arrived, and they drove to Xia Ruqing’s rented Lantian Garden community once more.

It’s not considered high-end, surrounded by ordinary residential buildings, but fortunately, it’s near the city center, so the traffic is fairly convenient.
