A Foodie Transmigrated into the Palace

Chapter 731: Chapter 731 Someone is Helping Them

Two ships, bringing up the rear, immediately lost courage when they saw the fire raging ahead and turned to flee.

However, with forty-eight ships lost, it was considered a complete annihilation.

The Great Chu Dynasty claimed its first victory!

...

On the night of annihilating the enemy forces, Zhao Junyao ordered a banquet to be held to celebrate the victory with his soldiers.

The morale and enthusiasm of the soldiers surged to the skies.

The tents of the Great Chu Army were brightly lit all night long.

However, inside the main tent, Zhao Junyao was somewhat displeased.

He even looked at General Xiao with a rather cold gaze.

Why?!

Because he had already chosen his horse and had not yet had the chance to leave.

General Xiao had already surrounded the enemy forces and started fighting, thoroughly enjoying the battle.

Zhao Junyao and Xia Tingfeng couldn’t bear to watch, itching to join the fray.

But they were confined by the people sent by General Xiao.

Zhao Junyao was so anxious that he was rubbing his hands together and even put on the airs of an Emperor.

But the other side simply wouldn’t let them go.

Their stance was resolute, as if to say, ’Our lives are on the line, but you are not leaving!’

Zhao Junyao was so furious that his veins bulged, but he couldn’t make a move.

There were too many of them, all elite soldiers and skilled commanders. The two of them wouldn’t have been able to defeat them anyway.

So...

Zhao Junyao and Xia Tingfeng had no choice but to stay cooped up in the tent until now.

No wonder they were anything but happy!

What was even more irritating was that they had won the first battle.

In front of all the soldiers, he still had to heap praise on Xiao and Liang.

General Liang was one thing; he led his men in capturing the enemy leader’s head and deserved commendation.

But as for General Xiao, truly, Zhao Junyao was not only far from praising him but also had the desire to beat him up fiercely.

Zhao Junyao stood by the window with his hands behind his back, his heart burdened with complex emotions.

Xia Tingfeng’s mouth twitched slightly as he consoled him, ”Emperor, it is good that you didn’t go! After all, nothing is more important than your safety!”

Although Xia Tingfeng was also quite regretful.

He could only comfort himself with these words and, of course, comfort the Emperor as well.

Zhao Junyao thought for a moment and sighed deeply.

”I...”

”Forget it!”

For an instant, he truly felt how suffocated he was.

Other men could fight across the lands, shedding their blood gloriously and righteously on the battlefield.

But what about him? At the age of twenty-something, he could only hide under the protection of others.

In the shadows, engage in scheming and stir up trouble!

This feeling is truly damn awful!

Zhao Junyao slammed his fist down on the imperial desk.

Then, that poor desk shook for a moment before breaking apart.

Looking at the fragments of redwood scattered on the ground, Zhao Junyao finally felt some of the tension in his heart ease.

”Enough! I won’t dwell on it any longer!”

Having dealt with those old officials for so many years, Zhao Junyao was well aware.

There were some things that they wouldn’t allow him to do, not even if it cost them their lives.

Thus, Zhao Junyao truly had no recourse.

I am truly not free!

After the first victory, it was time to reward meritorious service.

General Liang had always been upright and righteous; naturally, he wouldn’t vie for credit with a younger person.

Therefore, Ye Tang received the highest merit.

Zhao Junyao personally awarded her the title of Fifth Rank Valiant General, and additionally, One Hundred Taels of Gold.

The rest of the people were also rewarded according to their contributions, and no one was dissatisfied.

After the rewards had been distributed, the entire army once again entered a state of readiness.

The Monarch of the Southern Ocean, Arubasi, had two sons.

The eldest son, named Min Zhuo, was already dead.

The second son, Min Tu, still followed by his side.

Arubasi had campaigned far and wide for many years. Yet, no matter how brave and skilled in battle he was, he could not have become the monarch alone.

Therefore, his two sons were particularly important!

During his years of campaigns, they were like his own left and right arms.

The eldest son was brave and skilled in battle, truly a renowned tiger general.

The second son, Min Tu, was skilled in planning.

Every time they went to battle, he was there by his side, strategizing.

It was the close cooperation between father and sons that led to their achievements today.

Now, the eldest son had suddenly met his end.

Besides feeling heartbroken, Arubasi grew fierce once more.

”If I don’t bring down these damn weak chickens, I’m not Arubasi! I’m not the king of the Southern Country!”

After roaring out his frustrations, he sought Min Tu’s counsel on how to turn the tide on the battlefield.

As Min Zhuo’s younger brother, Min Tu suffered almost as much as their father over his death.

After pondering for a long time, he finally spoke.

”Father, I have been studying the writings of the Great Chu Dynasty these days!”

”There is a sentence in their books that I find very sensible!”

”To know your enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles...”

He had not finished speaking when Arubasi, with a look of distress, abruptly cut him off.

”Son, you don’t need to teach me how to read and write! Just tell me, what should we do?!”

Min Tu’s forehead began to ache, throbbing twice.

He could only say helplessly,

”Father, it means we need to know who the opposing generals are!”

”Only by knowing the opposing generals can we devise a targeted plan, knowing where this general likes to set traps!”

”We were too careless this time and suffered from underestimating the enemy!”

Arubasi frowned, lost in thought.

”To know the enemy generals is to know where they like to set traps...”

”Hmm... that’s quite interesting!”

Come to think of it, that does seem to be the case!

”For example,” Min Tu elaborated, ”some are skilled archers and prefer to attack with arrows. Others favor the broadsword; they certainly wouldn’t take up archery!”

”Right, that’s exactly the logic!” Arubasi exclaimed.

For the first time, Min Tu felt that his old father could still be taught.

”Good!”

Arubasi was delighted.

He immediately commanded his men:

”Go and find out how many generals the enemy has, who is the main commander, who is the deputy commander, and who is the military advisor?!”

”Yes!”

A soldier responded and quickly set off.

Arubasi thought for a while but was still a bit vexed.

”Son, knowing who they are isn’t hard, but what’s difficult is to know their personalities, preferences, and specialties! That is the hardest part!”

Min Tu offered a subtle smile.

”Father, don’t worry about that. I will surely take care of it for you!”

Arubasi was somewhat skeptical and sought reassurance repeatedly. Seeing that his son did not seem to be lying, he laughed.

”Good son! When we win, firstly, we’ll avenge your brother, and secondly, all this land will be ours!”

”At that time, all our people in the Southern Country will be superior, making those weak chickens our slaves, holding our shoes!”

”HAHAHA...”

Hearing this, Min Tu also laughed.

”Father, it’s not as simple as you say!”

This battle truly is a formidable one! If it weren’t for that person over there helping us, I’m afraid we wouldn’t even have the slightest chance of winning. Now... there’s still some chance, but it all depends on that person’s sincerity. If their sincerity is genuine, this battle will naturally be won.

As he thought, a cold, inscrutable glint flashed in Min Tu’s eyes.

...

In the following days, Arubasi again led his men to provoke the enemy near Xiahe Town a few times.

However, he discovered that no matter how they provoked, the enemy simply would not take to the sea.
