Mind-Controlled by the Villainess? I’ll Turn the Tables and Make Her Mine!

After returning to reality, Ansu immediately took the check for one hundred thousand pounds and placed the entire bet on the horse named Radish.

Not only was Celia beside him surprised, but the casino staff also looked at each other in bewilderment.

Even the passionate gamblers all around were stunned, their eyes falling upon this young man who spent money so lavishly yet seemed to be making a joke.

Taking one hundred thousand pounds... to bet on that most useless slacker of a horse? And on an exacta, which was incredibly difficult to win?

Was this guy ignorant of the rules of horse racing, or did he just have too much money and was in a hurry to donate it to the casino?

”Ansu... you’re doing this on purpose just to spite me, aren’t you!” Celia tugged at his sleeve, speechless. ”In this exacta you picked, first place is Radish... and second place is Monster? You just have to try and one-up me, don’t you?”

No person in their right mind would think Radish could beat Monster, yet that was exactly how Ansu had bet. If that wasn’t trying to spite her, what was?

Ansu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry; he really hadn’t done it on purpose.

Once Monster went feral, Radish would easily stroll to the finish line. Meanwhile, Monster’s owner, facing a storm of boos and perhaps fearing being shot in retaliation, would be forced to drive the rampaging Monster to the finish line, nearly losing half his life in the process...

Therefore, by the end of this race, only two horses would remain. Ansu had decisively chosen the exacta play, and the final odds offered by the casino were a staggering 8.2 times! One hundred thousand pounds would instantly turn into eight hundred and twenty thousand pounds!

Was there any faster way to make money? Ansu’s heart couldn’t help but race; he was even starting to get a bit addicted to the game!

Going all-in really was wisdom...

”Hey, hey, hey! Once a bet is placed, it cannot be voided!” Seeing the two of them whispering with their heads down, a staff member quickly kept a close eye on Ansu and reminded him, ”This is your ticket, keep it safe!”

Ansu glanced at the staff member, thinking that he was certainly being proactive.

He picked up the ticket, glanced at it, and smiled with satisfaction.

Celia said gloomily from the side, ”Have you thought about how to ask for leave from school?”

”Ask for leave?” Ansu was startled. ”For what?”

”To ask for sick leave and then move into my Lawrence Manor, of course?” Celia had already planned it out for him. ”First, you’ll go to school every other day. Once everyone knows you’re ill, you can just process the withdrawal paperwork and live at my place permanently.”

The more she thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed. ”That way, your disappearance won’t raise any suspicions. You’ll just stay honestly under my nose and go nowhere else!”

This way, she would never have to worry about Ansu’s identity being exposed, and she could find a reason to keep him by her side...

It was practically a win-win!

Ansu muttered helplessly, ”Lady Witch, why are you still dwelling on that? Can’t it just be that the Radish I favor pulls off a massive upset and wins by overpowering Monster?”

Celia curled her lip. ”Please, if Radish can win, I’ll...”

Before she could finish her sentence, her gaze landed on the increasingly frantic and agitated Monster. It was growling lowly, and its owner was nearly unable to control it.

”See that? My bet was based on calm calculation.” Ansu lied without even blushing.

”That Monster, due to the injections of filthy blood and consecutive races, is almost on the verge of monsterization. I don’t think it can hold out through this race.”

”This...” Celia raised an eyebrow in surprise, suddenly feeling that... Ansu’s words actually made some sense.

”But that’s still no reason for Radish to take first place...”

She looked at the other contestants; which one of them wasn’t physically superior to Radish?

”It’s hard to say~” Ansu smiled confidently.

After buying another portion of fish and chips, Ansu and Celia returned to their original seats and waited for the race to begin while eating.

Under the excited gaze of countless people, a restless atmosphere pressed down on the racecourse. When the starting gun fired, the horses galloped forward, and the entire venue instantly reached a boiling point.

Celia seemed to be encouraged by this atmosphere as well. She cupped her hands around her mouth like a megaphone and let out a rare, loud shout: ”Monster! Go for it!”

Ansu, like everyone else around him, stood up in excitement. ”Radish! Don’t be afraid! Charge, charge, charge!!”

Even though he already knew the outcome, he wasn’t faking it. After all, the atmosphere on-site was truly too frantic; it was hard not to be affected.

At the same time, Ansu was secretly waiting.

When the horses reached the halfway point, a scene that made everyone’s jaws drop finally occurred.

The completely rampaged Monster first broke free from its owner’s control, then lunged forward, pinning down the horse beside it. Like a true magical beast, it bit through the other horse’s neck in a single mouthful.

The entire racecourse seemed to fall silent for a moment.

Under everyone’s gaze, that frenzied Monster began to ravenously devour the horse’s flesh, even making a cracking sound as it chewed through the hard bones...

”You were right...” Celia instinctively looked toward Ansu. ”Monster really did go feral.”

”It’s starting to attack the other horses now,” Ansu added quickly.

Celia looked back and indeed saw Monster starting to bite everything in sight. Because its speed was the fastest, it acted like a giant beast blocking the front of the track. Any horse that tried to pass it would suffer its attack.

Ansu silently watched this scene in the arena, and immediately, waves of boos erupted from the crowd.

The entire race began to move toward an ending that no one had expected. At this time, the slowest, slacking horse, Radish, slowly ran toward the finish line under the bewildered gaze of its owner.

”It’s a fix! The race is fixed!!”

Torn betting tickets flew through the air like snow. Many gamblers shouted with flushed faces, and some of the drunken ones began to smash things on the spot, acting even more insane than the horses on the track.

Several collapsed gamblers were near Ansu. ”It’s over, all over! I put all my savings on Monster! Those were the safest odds!!”

”If this isn’t a fixed race, what is? We’ve all been played!”

”That damn casino owner, get out here! A rematch! There must be a rematch!!”

Celia looked at a drunken gambler nearby who was constantly shouting and curled her lip in disgust.

Ansu shielded her, placing his arm around her waist as he led her out of the stands.

”It’s getting more and more chaotic. Let’s go redeem the prize money first,” Ansu whispered.

Celia instinctively glanced at the way he was nervously protecting her, and the corners of her mouth curved up slightly.

Although with her strength, the day would likely never come when she needed Ansu to protect her, having this qualified chivalrous protector by her side all day made her feel quite content.

Since she didn’t know when, she who chased power had never relied on anyone. However, Ansu’s ’care’ for her made her instinctively cooperate with him, deliberately acting ’weak.’

Celia suddenly discovered that she actually quite liked being protected.

”Ansu...” Celia said softly. ”Thank you for today.”

”Hmm? Why are you thanking me?”

Ansu looked at the Lady Witch who had suddenly turned soft and sweet, feeling that her delicate appearance was becoming more and more adorable.

Celia winked playfully but didn’t explain further.

Because he had truly succeeded in making her, who was originally anxious, feel very happy.

It seemed that as long as he was by her side, all that nonsense about the Chosen One didn’t need to be considered at all...

...

After redeeming the prize money with Celia, Ansu happily tucked away the check for over eight hundred thousand pounds.

But just as he was about to leave, he noticed more and more people gathering outside the office; it seemed even the gang’s high-ranking members had been alerted.

At this moment, a middle-aged man who looked like a casino manager was sizing him up with a dark expression.

As they walked on the road, Celia warned in a low voice, ”You’ve been targeted by the gang members. Be careful on the way home.”

”What? Do they want to steal the money that’s already in my pocket?” Ansu raised an eyebrow, but there wasn’t a hint of worry on his face.

”Not necessarily. The casino makes its money from the commission; they certainly don’t lack this bit of yours.” Celia laughed. ”They probably suspect you of cheating or something. After all, that race just now... was indeed a low-probability event.”

”Let them suspect all they want.” Ansu shrugged indifferently. ”I have a clear conscience, so I’m not afraid of shadows.”

A small cheat doesn’t count as cheating.

On their way out of the casino, they also saw Radish and its owner.

Ansu looked at Celia and suggested, ”Let’s go see the great hero who brought us this fortune.”

”Sure!” Celia nodded with a smile.

Radish was an entirely brown, quite stoutly built racehorse. At this moment, it was eating fodder from a trough.

As the two approached, Radish’s large head merely lifted to give them a glance before lowering again to continue eating silently.

Ansu felt the horse’s state was the same as it had been on the track—lazy, with an inexplicable office worker aura...

”So it was you two who won the exacta?” The horse owner sized them up in surprise, a smile appearing on his face as he said, ”I didn’t expect the race to turn out like that... but I expected even less that someone would actually think we could take first place.”

There was prize money to be had for winning a race. The owner was naturally very happy to have stumbled into first place, but he was even happier that someone had actually spent a large sum of money betting on him and Radish...

After all, this man and horse were basically the bottom-tier failure duo of the entire racecourse...

”Who could have expected this result?” Celia muttered, looking at Ansu helplessly. ”Are you really just lucky, or do you have foresight? You actually managed to guess such a low-probability outcome.”

Even though he knew she was just speaking casually, Ansu’s heart still felt a momentary, inexplicable tension.

He could only maintain a calm face, teasing her with a low laugh, ”Lady Witch, you underestimate me too much. Can’t it be that I just know a lot about horse racing? Look, didn’t I point out in advance that Monster might lose control...”

As he spoke, the expression on his face became increasingly smug.

”It seems that accompanying my gambling addict of an old man to watch horse racing since I was a child wasn’t without its benefits. Lady Witch, do you feel it? A God of Gamblers, a King of Horse Racing of Benalu, is rising?”

”Alright, alright, stop bragging...” Celia gave Ansu a speechless glance. ”I’ll count this as your win, okay?”

”Then our bet...” Ansu asked with a grin. ”That one thing you promised me?”

”I’m a woman of my word!” Celia snorted dismissively. ”I’m not a sore loser, and I value my promises very highly.”

”That’s good.” Ansu breathed a sigh of relief in his heart.

”So what exactly do you want me to do with this favor?” Celia narrowed her eyes, looking at Ansu suspiciously.

”I really haven’t thought of it yet...” Ansu gave her a helpless look. ”So I’ll just keep it as a debt for now. In any case, just make sure you keep your word when the time comes.”

Although that was what he said, Ansu already had some ideas. Such a crucial opportunity—

It naturally had to be used on his ’Escape the Witch Plan’!

Ansu was taking out insurance for himself and the people he cared about!

Life insurance!

But he couldn’t let her know now, otherwise, there would be big trouble...
