The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 46: Chapter 46: The Demon Hunting Bureau’s Mission and the Mysterious Organization

New Star Martial Arts Hall.

Inside Training Area 5.

Lin Yu, Li Long, and Qian Zhigang were sitting on the floor, resting.

The other students were scattered about. Some were hitting the striking posts, some were practicing shadowboxing, and others were working on their basic fist techniques...

”That match just now between Senior Zhou Qi and the sparring partner was so intense! I still can’t get that scene out of my head!” Li Long said, his face full of admiration.

As soon as he said that, Lin Yu glanced back at him.

His brow furrowed involuntarily.

Qian Zhigang nodded as well. ”Did you guys notice? I feel like the sparring partner threw the match at the end. Senior Zhou Qi was at the end of his rope; there’s no way that last punch should have won!”

”Qian Zhigang, you really are too naive, you know?

Don’t you understand how the world works? He obviously let Senior Zhou Qi win at the end!” Li Long said with a laugh.

The few others present also nodded in agreement.

”I think so too. Senior Zhou Qi could barely fight anymore. How could he have won? The guy definitely threw the match!”

”Speaking of which, which high school is that guy from? Is he even from Xinghai City? I’ve never seen him before!”

”Logically, a genius like him, someone who even defeated Senior Zhou Qi, couldn’t possibly be a nobody!”

”Maybe he’s not from Xinghai City at all? What if Coach Yang hired him from out of town as a genius sparring partner?”

”Yeah, that’s very possible. That guy is incredible...”

Sitting off to the side, Lin Yu listened to them discuss the recent sparring match.

He especially heard all the praise and admiration for Lin Yi.

A growing discomfort twisted in Lin Yu’s gut.

The person they were discussing was, after all, the older brother he had always looked down on.

He had always acted high and mighty in front of Lin Yi.

Whether at home or at school.

Lin Yu always had to have the upper hand.

It had always been that way...

’Who would have thought? The quiet, unassuming Lin Yi has actually grown this strong?’

’He reached the One-Star Realm, and now even Senior Zhou Qi is no match for him?’

’Just what kind of monster is he?’

’How can he be this terrifying?’

Panic increasingly consumed Lin Yu’s thoughts.

He even began to wonder if Lin Yi would seek revenge on him in the future.

’Given how terrifying Lin Yi is now, if he really decided to come after me...’

’Would I even stand a chance against him?’

’No... not at all.’

’Even Zhou Qi, recognized as the strongest in the Martial Arts Hall, was no match for him.’

’Me, fight him? What a joke.’

Lin Yu’s heart was completely occupied by fear.

He thought about all the things he had done since his mother had married into the Lin Family.

Especially the things he’d done to Lin Yi... The thought alone sent a chill down his spine, making his hair stand on end.

”Lin Yu? Lin Yu?”

Just as he was completely lost in his fear, a voice from the side pulled him back to reality.

”Huh? Don’t... don’t hit me...”

Lin Yu’s face went pale with fright, and his body instinctively recoiled.

But when he got a clear look at his surroundings, he saw Li Long and Qian Zhigang standing before him.

They were both looking at him as if he’d lost his mind.

”Hey, who was going to hit you? What’s wrong?”

”PFFT... What’s with you? Were you sleeping with your eyes open? Having a nightmare or something?”

The two of them couldn’t help but laugh and tease him a little.

Lin Yu, his face pale, shook his head and got up from the floor.

”It’s nothing...”

With that, he walked toward the training area.

Li Long and Qian Zhigang exchanged a look.

”Something’s off with that guy. He’s definitely got a problem,” Li Long said in a low voice.

Qian Zhigang nodded. ”He’s definitely hiding something from us. Come on, let’s go ask!”

And so, the two of them ran after Lin Yu.

...

Martial Arts Hall Cafeteria.

Lin Yi finished his meal.

The food filled his stomach, and only then did he feel like he’d come back to life.

Zhou Qi had already finished eating and left, leaving Lin Yi sitting there alone, digesting the Demon Beast Meat he had just eaten.

He took this opportunity to pull out his phone.

The moment he logged into his chat app, a slew of messages popped up.

They were all from the [Fifth Demon Hunting Team] group chat.

There were over 99 unread messages. Curious, Lin Yi tapped it open to take a look.

Veteran: Everyone saw the news today, right? Be more careful when you’re out Demon Hunting.

Mystic: Boss, what’s the news about? Are there really demon beasts capturing people who practice Martial Arts?

Little Shrimp: It might not be demon beasts. It could be people!

Mystic: What do you mean? Are you saying some organization is behind the disappearances?

North Nether Wanderer: Let me share a little rumor with you guys. The Demon Hunting Bureau from the New District sent three teams to our Old District, supposedly for some mission. Then today, this news breaks. You can connect the dots...

Mystic: Ranger Bro, now that you put it that way, I get what you mean.

Veteran: Anyway, everyone be extra careful recently. This string of disappearances is definitely not that simple. Whether it’s demon beasts or some organization, their targets are Martial Artists like us. Make sure you all stay safe!

Mystic: Yes, Boss!

Little Shrimp: Roger that.

Lao Gao: Wait, so are we still doing our Demon Hunting missions or not?

Veteran: We are, of course we are. We make our living from Demon Hunting. I’m just telling you to be as careful as possible, not to lock yourselves indoors.

Lao Gao: ...

After reading the chat history for a while, Lin Yi exited the group chat.

All two hundred-plus messages were related to the news he’d seen this morning.

Now, everything was starting to add up.

He remembered Veteran mentioning that people from the Demon Hunting Bureau rarely came to the Old District.

Even though the Old District was teeming with demon beasts and posed a significant threat to its residents, they wouldn’t easily come to the Old District just to clear out those demon beasts.

It was like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

They would never waste resources and manpower on the Old District.

But for people from the Demon Hunting Bureau to show up in the Old District, it meant a major case had occurred.

Previously, neither Lin Yi nor Veteran could guess what kind of case would be big enough to alert the Demon Hunting Bureau.

Today’s news seemed to provide the answer for Lin Yi.

’If it’s really like they said in the group chat,’

’that the Demon Hunting Bureau came to the Old District on a mission targeting those kidnapping organizations?’

’Then it would all make perfect sense.’

Furthermore, based on Lin Yi’s own speculation, whether it was an organization or demon beasts, they weren’t originally from the Old District.

They had likely escaped from the New District or a Restricted Area.

That would explain why the Demon Hunting Bureau was taking it so seriously, chasing them all the way to the Old District to make an arrest.

”Looks like I’ll have to be more careful walking at night from now on!”

Lin Yi muttered to himself.

Just then, Tong Ye hurried over.

He was all smiles as he said, ”Lin Yi, Coach Yang wants to see you in his office!”
