Cultivation Starts with Rejuvenation

Knowing that Ning Sujin has the hope to further advance by devouring a soul cultivator’s divine soul, Li Ji’an is glad for her, and also because this will solve the Nascent Soul threat of the True Monarch of Ten Thousand Laws.

However, in a split second, Li Ji’an looked up at Ning Sujin, ”Sister Jin, does this method have any hidden dangers?”

Ning Sujin looked at him calmly and replied, ”There are no particular hidden dangers, but devouring the divine soul origin of others still makes me feel uncomfortable!”

”Yet, even if it weren’t for the matter of the True Monarch of Ten Thousand Laws, I am considering it because if the Nascent Soul is hosted in Yutan’s Sea of Consciousness, it temporarily safeguards the primordial spirit, but if Yutan cannot advance further, her physical body will eventually perish, the Sea of Consciousness will vanish, and by then, I will have no choice but to resort to body possession.

And body possession violates the natural order and is fraught with challenges. Even with my current primordial spirit power, I am not entirely confident. If I could further strengthen my primordial spirit, I might increase my chances by a few percent.”

Li Ji’an nodded silently. Ning Yutan lived in the Desolate Land of the Immortal Dynasty until the age of eighteen before entering this place, significantly affecting her spirit root, all of which are lower grade.

Even though her body was nourished by spirit marrow and frozen for decades, and thus her spirit root was nurtured, it was just slightly better than Xiaoqiao’s. With nourishment from Ning Sujin’s primordial spirit and Li Ji’an helping to enhance her body, along with Li Ji’an’s gift of an upper-grade Foundation Establishment Pill, the Foundation Establishment First Barrier was easily overcome.

Over the 130 years, living in a superior Spirit Vein Dao Field with a plentiful supply of spiritual talent made it barely possible to reach the late period of the Foundation Establishment Stage.

However, the Core Formation barrier is a bit too challenging for her.

After all, her magical power is weak and her foundation unstable. Even if all of Li Ji’an’s heaven-defying Core Formation spiritual talent was given to her, she might not withstand it, possibly exploding and dying at the first step!

At that time, Ning Sujin’s primordial spirit would have nothing to rely on. She would either need to find something like a Soul Nourishing Wood to store herself, or be forced to seize a new body as the True Monarch of Ten Thousand Laws did; otherwise, she would ultimately fade away in this world, her soul shattered.

And for body possession, hindered by the Celestial Dao, only a Nascent Soul spirit body can enter the Sea of Consciousness of cultivators below the Foundation Establishment Stage to possess them.

The stronger the opponent’s divine soul, the lower the chance of possession success.

Additionally, if the targeted person has poor talent, with no hope for the Dao path, it simply means wasting another lifetime.

Only by possessing someone of outstanding talent is it considered continuing the Dao path.

And in general, those of exceptional talent already have talents that surpass ordinary people, with possibly extraordinary aspects of the divine soul. Thus, for possession, having a stronger primordial spirit is naturally better.

”Hmm!” Li Ji’an nodded again silently.

”I need to go into seclusion for a month. On the day I come out, I will resolve the Nascent Soul of the True Monarch of Ten Thousand Laws. However, during this time, it would be best to make multiple arrangements.” Ning Sujin’s face carried a resolute expression as she gently instructed.

”Alright!”

The following morning, Ning Sujin parted ways with Li Ji’an.

After returning to the Peach Blossom Forest Dao Field, she immediately awoke Ning Yutan and informed her that she needed to devour divine souls during her seclusion.

”Are you crazy?”

”Didn’t you say that such a demon technique definitely has tremendous hidden dangers?”

”How is this different from cannibalism? Once you consume him, there’s probably no turning back?”

”Moreover, today you can consume him, who can guarantee that next time you won’t be consumed by someone else!” Ning Yutan immediately expressed her opposition upon hearing this.

Ning Sujin smiled faintly, ”Have you not seen the true nature of this cultivation realm? It is merely the law of the jungle, the strong devour the weak; today I am strong, I can consume him. If someday I am weak, what harm is there in being consumed?”

”Moreover, how confident are you in forming a core? If you cannot form a core, you will have only seventy or eighty years of life left. By then, once you perish, I have no physical body to depend on and can only resort to body possession, is that not akin to cannibalism?”

Upon hearing this, Ning Yutan was instantly stunned.

In the next moment, her resolve scattered.

After a moment of contemplation, she suddenly asked out of nowhere, ”Sister, what do you think... is the purpose of our cultivation? Why do you cultivate at all?”

”The purpose of my cultivation? What do you think?” Ning Sujin paused and then asked in return.

”Yes, I know, your initial goal was just to prevent the old villain of the Liu Family from devouring my essence blood, so you cultivated desperately. After that, it was to retrieve your body. And now? Is it to become stronger? To possess another body? To live longer?” Ning Yutan’s expression was wooden.

”Tell me, if we just continue to live for decades or hundreds of years, what meaning does it really have?”

”Every day is monotonous cultivation, every seclusion lasts for months or years; in contrast, the truly happy times were back when we were ordinary mortals.”

”Sister, to be honest, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t want to continue this way at all.”

The emotions Ning Yutan had suppressed in her heart were suddenly stirred, revealing her true feelings.

In her heart, whether it was a Core Formation True Man or a Nascent Soul True Monarch, they seemed no different; apart from living for a few more hundred years, eventually, everyone turns back to dust. If one cannot do what they want, they cannot be happy.

And although she had lived twice as long as ordinary mortals over these hundred years, she was not really happy.

Ning Sujin fell silent. As Ning Yutan said, after she came to the cultivation realm and realized the true nature of it, she too had felt despair and frustration. But initially, to prevent Ning Yutan from being devoured for essence blood by the old villain of the Liu Family, she made a deal with him and began cultivation.

Later, after ensuring Ning Yutan’s survival and repairing the Sea of Consciousness that was searched by the old villain of the Liu Family, her only goal became revenge.

Afterwards, the old villain of the Liu Family perished. Initially, she had no more desires or demands, with the greatest hope of returning to the mortal world of the Immortal Dynasty to end her remaining life. But unexpectedly, her body was again taken away by the Ten Thousand Laws Palace.

From then on, her aim was to retrieve her body. However, facing the restricting effects of the Liu Family’s Spirit Vein Land on her primordial spirit and the immense power of the Ten Thousand Laws Palace, she too had experienced despair, even wanting to give up.
