New Ability Every Ten Days: Becoming a Vampire Made Me Too OP

An Archdevil possessed an extraordinarily resilient vitality. Even with Jin Dajun and Gong Qian joining forces, it took well over ten thousand punches before Deimos finally stopped breathing.

And that wasn’t even the worst of it. Throughout the ordeal, Deimos repeatedly entered states of apparent death. However, each time, the humans ignored those signs. Instead, they continued beating it until it woke up again. Then they beat it back into a deathlike state.

They repeated this several times until Deimos finally died for good. But even then, neither of them stopped. They pummeled the corpse until Deimos’s eyeballs literally popped out of their sockets. Only then did they finally call it enough.

Jin Dajun kicked Deimos’s corpse once and remained standing where he was, still unwilling to lower his guard. ”Is it dead?”

Not far away, Gong Qian was drenched in sweat. Her arms felt as though they no longer belonged to her. Yet despite her exhaustion, a deeply satisfied smile spread across her face.

It was the most enjoyable fight she had ever experienced. Every punch landed solidly. She didn’t need to worry about her surroundings, running around, or aiming. All she had to do was close her eyes and throw punches with everything she had.

In fact, only under such conditions could she perfectly align her posture, channeling her full weight and momentum into every blow. Deimos was probably the first opponent to experience every one of her punches carrying its full ten-thousand-ton force.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, the personnel responsible for teleporting General Zhao Yi and the other generals to the battlefield exchanged bewildered looks. Deimos is dead. Is there any need to continue?

The team leader immediately contacted his superiors, who in turn escalated the report up their own chain of command. Before long, new orders came down from the top brass: the teleportation operation was to be suspended immediately.

Qilin’s headquarters immediately began verifying the reports. After multiple rounds of confirmation, when the call finally reached Jin Dajun, the truth was officially established. The Dragon-rank threat, Archdevil Deimos, was dead. However, Jin Dajun hadn’t done it alone. Gong Qian and several others had played crucial roles.

Jin Dajun immediately recognized Gong Qian’s punches, but he had never seen Yu Xian’s bubbles before. As a result, he had no idea that the mysterious spatial ability belonged to Yu Xian.

It didn’t take long for headquarters to learn the truth. Through Gong Qian’s report, the higher-ups soon learned that Yu Xian’s support was the absolute linchpin of the entire victory.

At Qilin’s headquarters, the senior leadership gathered in a conference room. After ending a phone call, Director Yu Lie looked around at the assembled deputy directors and let out a sigh of relief. ”Everyone, we can now officially confirm that the Dragon-rank threat, Archdevil Deimos, has been eliminated through the combined efforts of Jin Dajun, Gong Qian, and Yu Xian.”

One of the deputy directors frowned. ”Gong Qian possesses Pangu Divine Strength, so it’s not surprising that she could participate in a Dragon-rank battle. But Yu Xian... wasn’t he only Ant rank?”

Back in Silver City, this deputy director had personally patted the young man’s head and verified his rank.

Yu Lie chuckled bitterly. ”Not only did he participate, but he was actually the key reason Deimos was killed. We should probably start discussing how to reward him.”

When Yu Xian had foiled the Aberrant Parasites’ plan and saved tens of millions of people in Silver City, they had already granted him every reward they could reasonably offer.

Moreover, just a few days ago, the young man had also discovered Zhou Tai’s ability to further awaken the bloodline of supernatural creatures. He had reported the information in time, exposing what could have become a future Dragon-rank catastrophe. The leadership was still debating whether that contribution deserved a First-Class Merit or a Second-Class Merit, but before they could even reach a conclusion, Yu Xian had gone and earned another major achievement.

The senior officials exchanged helpless looks before, one after another, breaking into bitter smiles. The annual supply of the Blood of Pangu was strictly limited. Qilin needed its share, but its sibling departments, Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, White Tiger, and Black Turtle, also required their own allocations. Headquarters simply had nothing left to squeeze out.

One of the deputy directors spoke with obvious reluctance. ”If nothing else works, we can reward him with a weapon. How about having a Dragon-rank weapon forged for him?”

Yu Lie considered the suggestion for a moment. ”Let’s have Jin Sheng ask Yu Xian what he wants first. We can decide after that.”

Although everyone was struggling to determine an appropriate reward, they all knew perfectly well just how many resources Yu Xian had saved them this time. Had it not been for him, headquarters would have been forced to expend enormous resources and assume tremendous risks to teleport several generals to the battlefield.

During this time, if an unidentified creature had slipped through the Abyssal Rift and entered the Blue Planet, it could have triggered another disaster on the scale of the Aberrant Parasites incidents. Therefore, if the supply of the Blood of Pangu were not already stretched to its limits, rewarding Yu Xian with another allocation would not have been unreasonable.

One could not retain talented supernatural beings, whose immense power belonged entirely to themselves, through trickery or empty promises. Qilin had always maintained a strict system of clear rewards and punishments. Meritorious deeds had to be rewarded, and the scale of the reward had to match the scale of the achievement. Only by doing so could they maintain loyalty, preserve morale, and keep everyone united in purpose.

After Deimos’s death, the Devil Cage gradually collapsed. The toxic swamp, however, remained. The terrain had been permanently transformed into a poisonous marshland. Currently, except for Jin Dajun, no one could safely enter the swamp. As a result, the task of dismantling Deimos’s corpse fell entirely to him.

The sealed-off zone would likely remain closed off for a very long time. Perhaps it would even be designated a permanent restricted area.

Meanwhile, Yu Xian, Zhang Shou, and Gong Qian returned to the military base outside Silver City. The entire base was in chaos.

When Gong Qian noticed that one of her squad members was missing a leg, she immediately bid farewell to Yu Xian and Zhang Shou before hurrying away to learn what had happened.

Before long, Yu Xian spotted Bluebird among the crowd. Her complexion was pale, and her eyes were red and swollen, as though she had recently been crying.

Yu Xian walked toward her. ”Bluebird, where’s the captain?”

Bluebird looked up at him, her eyes reddening once more as her voice began to tremble. ”Salted Fish... The captain is still in emergency care. And... our squad... there’s only us left now.”

Originally, the Wickedness Purging Squad had grown to seven members after Yu Xian and Zhang Shou joined. But following Deimos’s sudden attack the previous night, three members had lost their lives.

The moment Zhang Shou heard that, panic appeared on his face. ”Sister Bluebird... what about Brother Bo?”

Bluebird turned to Zhang Shou and silently shook her head. Zhang Shou froze. The previous day, Yu Xian had been assigned to the operation alongside Bluebird. Zhang Shou, meanwhile, had been partnered with Yu Bo.

Yu Bo was the oldest member of the Wickedness Purging Squad. He was socially adept but completely genuine, a smooth operator who lacked any cynicism. Along the way, he kept Zhang Shou laughing and talking, sharing a wealth of practical experience with the rookie.

When Deimos appeared, Yu Bo had ordered Zhang Shou to immediately retreat, while he himself had gone to find the captain. And that brief separation had become their final farewell.

The image of Yu Bo turning around with a smile lingered in Zhang Shou’s mind. Zhang Shou clenched his fists, his eyes red. You clearly said everything would be fine. Weren’t you supposed to be the experienced one? Hadn’t you faced thousands upon thousands of dangerous situations before?

After wiping his eyes, he looked up. ”Where is Captain? I’m our team’s healer.”

Bluebird immediately stood up. ”Come with me.”

Yu Xian followed behind them in silence, his mood equally heavy. By the time they arrived at the military base’s medical station, a large crowd had already gathered outside. Many people were waiting anxiously for news.

Spotting Yu Xian, four to five men and women carrying swords stepped forward and thanked him. These were some of the people Yu Xian had rescued with his bubbles.

After chatting with them, Yu Xian learned that they were members of the Evil Slaying Squad. They were waiting here because both their captain, Gan Jiang, and their vice-captain, Mo Ye, were undergoing treatment.

Among the four squads, the Evil Slaying Squad and the Demon Slaying Squad had been comparatively fortunate. Neither squad had suffered any fatalities. Although both captains had been seriously injured, all of their members had survived.

The unluckiest squad was Gong Qian’s Crime Eradication Squad. Aside from Gong Qian herself, only a single squad member had survived. Every other member of the squad had perished.
