Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1725 Reinforcements

On the ground, Osbert watched the carnage around him in sheer horror.

If it wasnʼt for the undead knight grabbing him at the last moment and hurling him away, he would have turned into a gory paste.

Just... just what the hell was that thing? He thought to himself as he rose to his feet.

All around him, the orcs had begun to visibly panic. The formation had become chaotic, and some of them at the rear had even begun to flee. If this continued, then the entire army would soon scatter.

He quickly retrieved a skull-shaped artifact from his inner robes. With a desperate look on his face, he bit his tongue and spat blood on the skull. A moment later, he infused it with mana. Following that, the movement of the orcs stilled.

”What the fuck do you think youʼre doing?!” He roared at the top of his lungs.

With a simple mental command, he forced all the orcs to fall back into formation. Goroʼs rampage earlier had only killed a small fraction of these ores, maybe a couple of dozen or so. It was but a drop in the bucket. The vast majority of his army remained.

He turned toward the city in the near distance. The undead horde was still relentlessly clawing its way to the top of the northern wall. Osbert squinted his eyes and noticed that the barrier still remained.

”Those pathetic things,” he spat through gritted teeth. ”They had one job. One job!”

Although not all the node chambers had been destroyed, Osbert could tell that most of them had. After all, he could see that the barrier had dimmed significantly compared to before. That meant the orcs hadnʼt completely failed. With the sudden emergence of Goro, Osbert knew he had to move quickly. He didnʼt know how his allies fared in the aerial battle. He had to send his ore army to destroy the city. He infused more mana into the artifact and was just about to send the command to advance, when suddenly...

Rumble!

The ground beneath his feet started to vibrate. It was faint at first, but slowly, the vibrations intensified. And soon, he could feel the distant sound of hooves thundering across the ground.

Osbertʼs heart caught in his chest. He slowly turned around, shock and fear gleaming in his eyes. In the far distance, he could faintly see a large number of silhouettes rapidly approaching. The dim glow of the twin moons cascaded on the ground, faintly illuminating the newcomers.

He first saw the approaching silhouettes, then the giant curtain of dust rising behind them.

Thousands of soldiers on horseback surged forward in formation. Armors caught the faint light of the moons, and their banners snapped in the wind. The sound of hooves filled the air as they advanced toward the battlefield.

They were finally close enough for Osbert to make out the insignia on the fluttering banners.

”The Union!”

Almost ten thousand Magi from the Sovereign Union had arrived! And that wasnʼt all...

From the east, another sound rose. A line of riders broke into view, then widened, then multiplied until it stretched across the horizon. Thousands of horsemen thundered across the lands. Cloaks snapped behind them, and their lances and blades caught the light as they rode.

Dust rose in thick clouds beneath the pounding hooves. Their advance was swift and direct, cutting across the land without hesitation. They rode straight into the battlefield, and they carried more than just one banner.

The second tide closed in from the east, their numbers almost reaching five thousand. The soldiers from the neighboring kingdoms had appeared.

Reinforcements had finally arrived!

Osbert dismounted and scanned the battlefield in fear and panic. Behind him, ten thousand soldiers closed in, and from his left, another five thousand. Despite Goroʼs brief attack earlier, he still had enough orcs in the army to deal with the relief force. And he still had the undead horde.

”I... I can still do it!” His sheer hatred for House Fireborne made him unwilling to give up. He had patiently waited for this day, biding his time for so many years. Now victory was finally within reach. How could he give up now?

Just when he was about to bark out orders, a figure wreathed in flames descended from the sky. A chill crept down Osbertʼs spine when he realized who it was.

Prince Anna Fireborne descended from the heavens like an angel of fire and judgment!

She glanced at the reinforcements in the near distance and decided not to engage with the orc army. Instead, she flew toward the undead horde at the base of the northern wall, her spell ready.

Brilliant streams of Immortal Flame spewed from her hands as she buried the undead monsters underneath the fire.

Her fire magic was the bane of the undead. The moment they came in contact with it, they writhed miserably. One by one, they fell to the ground in a lifeless heap. Regeneration no longer worked on them, and they continued to be bathed in the brilliant flames.

Even from a distance, Osbert noticed how the undead fell rapidly under her mysterious flames. With his biggest trump card now rendered useless, the unwillingness in his heart was quickly squashed.

He commanded the orc army to split in two, forcing them to clash against Amberfallʼs reinforcements. Their lives would pave the way for his escape. A cunning light flashed in his deranged eyes as he quickly slipped past their ranks and headed toward Beryl Woods.

This is not the end, he screamed in his heart.

He had waited once. He could wait again. No matter what, one way or another, he would make sure to see the downfall of the Fireborne family. Under the cover of night, Osbert had finally managed to slip away. Princess Anna was busy dealing with the last of the undead monsters, while the orc army had already begun engaging with the relief force.

His heart was filled with hatred and bitterness as he slipped through the

shadows of the trees.

Damn it! He cursed inwardly.

Damn it all! I was so close!

So close...

Just as heʼd thought that heʼd managed to escape unseen, a towering figure abruptly landed in front of him with a thunderous boom.

Dust and debris were scattered in all directions, and Osbert was swept off his

feet. When the winds settled, the figure in front of him finally came into view. And he recognized the man instantly as fear engulfed his heart.

With a sour expression, Goro Tsuitsui grumbled.

”Where the hell do you think youʼre going?”
