Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1603 Cry for Justice ”Punish the vile traitor!” ”How dare he set foot in our city!” ”Enemy of the Empire!” ”Off with his head!”

Adam never got the chance to even speak.

The moment Almansour finished asking his question, the crowd erupted in a frenzy.

Shouts erupted from every corner of the square. Angry voices overlapped with curses and accusations, forming a roaring storm of rage directed at the man standing on the stage.

Hatred burned in their eyes.

Adam stood still as the boisterous noise washed over him.

But inside... something twisted.

There was a quiet turmoil in his chest, and beneath it was a slow, burning anger.

He had come from nothing.

No noble blood. No powerful family.

Everything he had achieved had been painstakingly earned through blood, sweat, and tears. Every step of his rise had been carved through hardship.

And through it all, he had always tried to remain a good man.

He had never forgotten those who had shown him kindness. He had always shown gratitude to those who had helped him. He had protected the innocent whenever he could. He had fought for this very city, for these very people.

Yet now they bared their fangs at him.

They cursed him for crimes he had never committed.

Adamʼs fingers slowly clenched tightly at his sides.

However, the anger burning within him was not directed at the crowd before him. These people were not his true enemies. They were victims as well. They were misled and manipulated.

No. His hatred was reserved for those truly responsible.

Aldo Wagner and the Cult of Bones.

They were the ones who had twisted the truth, altered memories, and turned the world against him.

Almansourʼs voice boomed across the square, cutting through the roar of the crowd. ”Tell us, Adam Constantine!!” he demanded. ”How do you plead to the charges brought against you?!”

For a brief moment, Adam felt like his vision was engulfed in crimson.

There was just so much anger burning in his heart.

He clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white. He took in the hatred burning in the eyes of the crowd. Oh, how much they wanted to see him punished for the crimes he didnʼt even commit.

Adam gnashed his teeth in frustration. Even he hadnʼt expected himself to be so overwhelmed by emotions. He had planned to remain calm and composed, and explain his side of the story.

But the look in these peopleʼs eyes... it snapped something inside of him.

I dedicated my life to the pursuit of magic, he thought to himself. And along the way, I fought relentlessly for the people I loved and cared for.

The fight with the vampire in Hannes City, the war against the orcs in the Southern Federation, the battle against Stratford, the Blackshore Incident... All of it culminating in the Battle of Ravenfell.

I fought to protect the people of this land...

Yet this is what I get from the people I tried to protect...

Oh, how miserable this all feels...

I hate this! ”Why donʼt you answer, Adam Constantine?!” Almansour roared at the top of his lungs. ”Why are you quiet?!!”

Adam lowered his head, his eyes slowly turning bloodshot.

He recalled his days of madness and all the times he had been so close to death.

He had endured all of that... for what?

Just for his own people to continue labeling him a traitor?

Just for the Cult of Bones to succeed in its schemes? ”How do you plead, Constatine?!” Almasnour screamed again.

The roar of the crowd got louder and louder.

And then...

Adam raised his head high and screamed at the top of his lungs: ”I PLEAD NOT GUILTY!!!”

Adamʼs voice thundered across the crowd.

A faint shockwave rippled outward from the platform as his declaration rang in the air, carrying the full weight of the emotions behind it. The sound rolled over the massive crowd like a physical force, reaching every corner of the packed square.

For a brief moment, the angry uproar continued.

Then slowly, the noise began to fade.

One by one, the voices died down as people sensed the raw conviction in his words. The rage that had filled the square began to falter, gradually replaced by... uncertainty.

Soon, the crowd fell quiet.

Tens of thousands of people stared at the man on the platform, watching him with stunned expressions as the echoes of his declaration faded into silence several seconds later.

On the stage, Nylian, Lovelace, and Almansour were visibly shocked by Adamʼs cry.

Mentor... Eleiney watched with tearful eyes as Adam stood on the platform. Beside her, Arthur and Aiden were also taken aback as they had never seen their teacher react in such a manner.

For a long time, the crowd remained silent.

On the viewing platform, the various representatives of all the major factions in Acadia watched with conflicting emotions.

Anna had a concerned look on her face as she clenched her fists. She had known Adam for a long time since he was but a child. Yet she had never seen him lose composure like this. ”Myu...” Nestled in her arms, Valerianʼs ears drooped as he felt the grief, anger, and helplessness in his brotherʼs heart.

Standing somewhere within the packed crowd, a towering figure cloaked in a dark hooded robe watched Adam in silence.

Beneath the shadows of the hood, a pair of golden eyes flickered softly with solace. Adam took half a step forward and clenched his fists. The veins on his neck visibly bulged, and he continued in a loud, defiant voice: ”I have never betrayed this land! And I have never betrayed its people!”

Sometimes, only a few words spoken with raw emotion and from the depths of oneʼs heart are enough to move people.

Long speeches were not always necessary. Carefully crafted arguments and endless explanations often fell short of what genuine conviction could achieve. When the cry for justice rose from deep within a personʼs soul, people could feel it. And when it did, even the loudest crowd fell silent.

This was the plea of the proud Count of Ravenfell. This was the plea of the Dark King of Ravenfell.
