I Just Wanted to Be a Galactic Hunter—Why Am I on the Wanted List?

Loren stepped out of the spatial rift and scanned the area.

Seeing the many superhumans gathered at the entrance of the Bounty Hunters Guild, all maintaining a reasonable atmosphere, he nodded with evident satisfaction.

Good, it seems people have finally learned to like quiet...

I like quiet.

After his moment of reflection, Loren, wearing an expression of contentment, lifted his foot and walked toward the Guild’s main doors.

The spatial rift behind him was smoothed away by the ever-present power of space, leaving no trace.

......

In the deep-night hours, the Bounty Hunters Guild lobby was still brightly lit.

Human superhumans and alien superhumans mixed at the various mission counters, looking grave and hurried.

The staff behind the mission windows continued to maintain that half-dead politeness and professionalism. In a corner of the lobby, a few bounty hunters who had just submitted missions chatted idly, telling one another about their amusing experiences...

This familiar scene made Loren, who had just entered the lobby, feel momentarily dazed.

It felt... no different from the Interstellar Hunter Association... he thought to himself.

Standing in the mission hall, a rather amused smile tugged at the corner of Loren’s mouth.

Now he understood what Retab Collin, that salty fellow, had meant when he once said “the other organization created by the Chief.”

So all it took was a different name to open branches in the Beastkin Star Domain and the Land of the Gods?

That legendary Chief doesn’t seem all that honest either...

Loren chuckled and shook his head, then walked toward the newcomers reception counter at the far edge of the hall.

Although Loren’s reputation nowadays could make a baby cry, at this moment he was just an unremarkable “newcomer” who had just arrived.

After all, this was his first time entering the Bounty Hunters Guild.

......

“Hello, madam.”

“I’m here to join the Bounty Hunters Guild.”

Loren stood before the newcomers’ counter, smiling as he handed over his Hunter License.

“Please wait a moment, Mr. Loren.”

The female staffer at the counter took the Hunter License with practiced hands, her fingers flying across the computer as she registered his information.

The only regret Loren felt was that she had apparently recognized him before even taking his Hunter License.

That took a little of the fun out of it.

The pleasure of being a “newcomer.”

......

One minute later.

“All set, Mr. Loren.”

“From this moment on, all the permissions you hold in the Interstellar Hunter Association are equally valid in the Bounty Hunters Guild.”

“Your lounge is on the top floor, room 003. It has the best view and facilities.”

“The free cafeteria is on the second floor. Rest assured, the chef was recently hired and used to be an ardent follower of the ‘God of Cuisine Church.’”

“The Bounty Hunters Guild welcomes your membership. We wish you a pleasant journey in the Beastkin Star Domain.”

“Please take care~”

The female staffer smiled as she handed back Loren’s Hunter License; everything was flawless.

Loren tucked the Hunter License away with satisfaction, tipped his hat slightly, and returned the smile.

“Thank you, attentive madam.”

Such conscientious, responsible receptionists are rare in the Interstellar Hunter Association...

After expressing his thanks, Loren turned to leave.

As he walked toward the elevators in the right corner of the hall, he finally got a detailed look at the mission hall of this Bounty Hunters Guild.

Huh? No signs of embezzlement?

That was truly unexpected...

The materials of the floor, the ceiling, the pillars, and the fixtures all subtly exuded an expensive aura.

Loren could even detect the traces of magical array etchings on these otherwise ordinary decorations.

This was nothing like that salty fellow’s embezzling castle.

Realizing this, Loren quietly released his Spiritual Perception, sweeping it across the Bounty Hunters Guild.

His intuition told him there was a secret here...

A branch chief who doesn’t embezzle is a rare species in this Star Realm.

After a while.

Loren retracted his spiritual power and gave a slight shake of his head.

This seven-story Guild building resembled a defensive fortress constructed from a large number of high-level magical arrays.

Whenever his spiritual perception tried to enter certain non-public areas, it was completely blocked.

Satisfied his suspicions, Loren continued to act as if nothing had happened and sauntered toward the elevator in the corner of the hall.

Sure enough, there were secrets here...

I’m getting excited!

“Master, don’t you think it’s a bit presumptuous for us to start doing this as soon as we arrive?”

A voice sounded in Loren’s mind.

The Raven, who had been diligently studying spells in Illusion Space during Loren’s break, had glanced outside and noticed Loren’s snooping.

“...Shut up, stupid bird.”

Loren sent a thought back into his mind.

“Did you sense those decorations etched with magical arrays?”

“I’m trying to find out if there’s a way for us to earn Spirit Stones here...”

Raven: “...”

Don’t I know you, Master...

After muttering that silently, Raven returned to Illusion Space to study from Mr. Slab again.

Clearly, with an owner who was always looking for fun, the bird had no better option than to grow stronger.

......

Seeing Raven dive back into serious study, a satisfied curve formed at the corner of Loren’s mouth.

Stupid bird, I look forward to the day you become a mage...

With that pleasant thought, Loren calmly strolled to the elevator in the mission hall’s corner.

Immediately, the bounty hunters waiting nearby all unconsciously held their breath.

The elevator doors opened.

Loren stepped in calmly.

At the same moment, those bounty hunters who had tensed up all exhaled and resumed whispering to the people beside them.

Seeing such overblown acting, the corner of Loren’s mouth twitched slightly.

“Anyone want to come in?” he asked with rather perverse courtesy.

At his words, the air fell silent for an instant!

Then, the bounty hunters who had been whispering a moment before all shook their heads in unison the next moment!

They frantically signaled that they did not need to ride this elevator!

Clearly, with Loren’s current reputation across the Federation, very few were willing to share an elevator with him.

Loren shrugged.

One second before the elevator doors closed, he expressed his regret in a deliberately light tone:

“What a pity, I’m really not that scary~”
